I don't know if it "needs" one, but I put one on just to be safe.

Thanx for the screens! :)
However u got me confused. I see no prob with 4300 and P5N-E. These are some descent clocks for this cpu on air.
One more question. I've seen posts about pci-e reverting to 8X for no reason. Have u experienced this?
can someone make a pi 1M with a E6400 @ 3.7 ram sync 4/4/4/12 please ?
i did one @ 3.7 with ram unlinked 520 (4/4/4/12) and 550 ( 5/5/5/12) and i just try the same cpu on P5B-Dlx @ 3.7 sync 462 ( 4/4/4/12 ) and i won nearly 1 second !
I'd like to know if unlinked ram performs bad or if it's N650i which is a lot slower ...
Thanks for the help !
Quite a big (40€ here) for my 2nd rig...
Plus with the upcoming April price cuts, 6300 will lose less than both 4300 and 6400. This is not my final cpu. I can upgrade it whenever i like... ;)
you're right, i bought a E6400 for my 2nd ring too and i'll sell it before end april :D
Let us know what you can do with this E6300 ;)

4. Fix CPR might fail when overclock too much.
thanks a lot John !
I'm actually on P5B-Dlx so as soon as i'm back on P5N-E i'll try this new bios ;)
Anyone had time to try the new bios yet?
Mine is awsome. I never thought this thing would be able to get to 3700mhz. You need to remember that the same cpu can perform totally diffirent on diffirent boards. You should be able to get to 3500mhz if your chip has no fsb wall like my first one did. Even at 400mhz it was still a good chip. Cool the NB and you will be fine.
Good good, I don't have the energy to switch mobo again if the stability issues aren't resolved with the new bios
OK. I've found that the "magic vcore" is 1.443v for 3.5ghz stable. 0505 BIOS didn't do anything noticeable on first impression. I'll have to do more testing to see if there are any benefits over 0401.
I am going to update 0505 too ^^
Can you still change multipliers on 0505? Someone tried it and said it lock his multiplier.
OK. I changed out memory and now I can't boot to windows. It freezes after about 15sec. Not very happy. Any suggestions? I don't think it has anything to do with the BIOS. I think my board has had a problem from the beginning. I've never been able to do an Orthos blend. No matter the settings. Now it is just broken. I love this board, but what a headache. I'm getting closer to RMA. If I can't find the problem this weekend the egg gets it back.:slapass:
This bios is really weird and unorganized...I'm too used to DFI. I have to go back and forth between ~6 different pages to change OC settings and it gets really confusing.
Also, whats up with the DDR2 clock needing to be one half the FSB clock in bios? You would think that setting 1:1 would actually make it 1:1 and not 1:2 :slapass:. So I spent 30min trying to figure out why it kept failing POST and only booting every other boot until I went into CPU-Z and saw that setting it to half the FSB was actually 1:1 . Yea apparently my RAM doesn't like to post at DDR1066 533mhz .
So far people with a E4300 have reported locked multipliers with the 0505 bios. Let me know what results you get if you flash to the new bios and what chip you have.
Thanks
EDIT: That would be a downward multiplier only.
