In HWBot's OC Challenge August, that ended two days ago, our team member PcCI2iminal and chew* placed 3rd and 6th respectively! Good work guys!
Started out with the new P45 board today testing a lapped Q9450.
Still figuring out how it plays with the DDR3 ram and the small settings but I think I'm starting to remember how to clock this old setup again. :D
Tested it on a good pifast OS. SS was on fire with the hot days here in Alabama running in the -30s after an hour or so...
Will resume testing tomorrow on another OS trying for higher clocks in Superpi 1M and 32M and Wprime 32M and 1024M.
I found found some old runs from july I saved to a usb key and forgot about them.
tonight I was going through them and cant believe what I found. its been sitting there the whole time. I remember just scewing around with the mem slacked so I could see what the 655k max cpuz was.
2x 6ghz wprime runs. And they couldve been a lot better. look at my mem. I never submitted during a 655k tpower i55 session.
better late than never.
Quick question guys, I'm going to install XP, is it worth to strip the intallation disk, or just disabling services later would do?
Also what else beside 3dmark2001 and SuperPi will get me better results than W7?
TIA
EDIT - Daniel already PM'd answer - thanks!
If anyone of you has been using my sig template, I wasn't able to repair it after the image got lost, so I made a new one, feel free to use it!
Guys, Hardwareluxx is getting really really close.
What happened to JMax-Hardware? They are at 16622.70 now... Keep pushing it out guys! 10th is closer its been in a long time!
Luk997 posted some great scores today pushing his three GTX 480s in single, dual, and triple SLI mode to the max! Very strong 980x clocks on water and GTX 480 overclocks!
Great work!
Very nice scores luke997!
Benching is so much more fun than modding, right? :ROTF:
PS: Thanks for the update Daniel!
Haha ;) yeah, at least till I burn this CPU :D
I'm a little bit dissapointed with my Vantage x3 score - although an improvement, I was hoping to brake 50K but my 3rd card disappeared from the system for 2 reboots and when back I couldn't get her more than 875Mhz... and that's with max volts which forced me to lower CPU OC a bit too :(
But hey, I can't complain too much considering it's water :-)
Yeah, better be careful, it's a great clock for water cooling, don't challenge your luck. :)
Or get some LN2! ^^
Hardwareluxx had a team session this weekend, they passed JMax....
Our team member SteveRo has broken the PCMark 05 WR!
You can congratulate him here!

Big props to Marco André as well for taking two golden cups in the X6 1075T category.
Great work SteveRo and Marco Andre!
Guys with gt220's I need some help here. I cant do this all by myself.

Represent team XtremeSystems in this month's Single Core comp! :D
http://hwbot.org/competition/hoc_oct10
In the most recent stage of the ASUS 1156 Overclocking Championship three of our members managed to enter Top Ten!
Congrats to FUGGER, chew* and ZenEffect and good luck for the next stage!
Well I just signed up... maybe HWBOT is a bit out of my league, not sure. I figured SuperPi was a simple enough benchmark, but I find myself a little baffled. Am I supposed to write down the checksum? I can't copy it because there's another window in my way, so I'm not sure what to do. I'm just trying to find out my ranking with a Phenom II X4 955 at stock.
Is there like a list of programs that I should download? I'm thinking benchmarks, specs, heat/load monitors, etc... that are commonly used for benching.
Hwbot is temporarily down again but no worries. Just the domain name is this issue.
Need your daily hwbot fix? http://62.182.59.107/
You can find the download links for all the benchmarks on the page I linked, apart from that you only need CPU-Z, GPU-Z, MemSet/CPU-Tweaker + a program for changing GPU-clocks, many options available for this. I'm not using a temp monitoring program when benching, it either passes or it crashes... :yepp:
PS: HWBot is back!
With my Phenom, I haven't even moved off of stock voltage... I'm just very unsure of what to do. I'd love to add some of you to instant-messaging programs so I can figure out what I'm doing.
:bows::worship:NameGT:worship::bows:
Sick speed, namegt! Congrats for taking down the AMD 1M WR!
Amazing job NameGT! I am getting some more computer crap for the October single core contest but before I go any further I need to apologize to the team.
...
About 2 months ago I was benching a 665k on my th55xe and tpower i55. PcCI2iminal did a submission for wprime 32 and 1024 at 6ghz. During my benches I took a shot of the screen with my powershot so I could use as a reference while I was clocking. Well I forgot his shots were on my camera and days later when I was submitting scores I accidentally uploaded the reference image thinking they were mine from the session. Since I was also using a biostar board I got confused. I couldn't find screenshots I saved off my hard drive so I assumed it crashed before I could take any and save my results so I uploaded just the pics from the camera still thinking they were my scores. Then 2 nights ago don_dan and chew brought it up and I was accused of cheating. I know it looks really bad but I had only good intentions. So that's the story. I’m sorry to my team and I will be more careful. It will never happen again.
It was an honest mistake and I’m sure it will make some of you guys laugh at me. I’d rather you laugh and call me an idiot than a blatant cheater. I would never put the only thing that brings me this much joy in jeopardy. Although this might be amusing that for the last 2 months I thought I was a wprime genius on 655k and only until 2 days ago I found out they were actually PcCI2iminal’s results.
Its funny but its also very serious. I need to be more careful. I don't want to be called a cheater. But more importantly I don’t want to ruin it for the XS team. You’re welcome to start flaming me.
I probably deserve it.
bah that's what I'm up against with my Phenom 955 haha
All I want to say that if I had a buck for every mistake I'd made we'd all be millionaires.
Crap happens, learning from those mistakes is the important part.
Thanks everyone. I can only hope the admins are as understanding you guys and give me the benefit of the doubt. I am going to make it up to my team. I think I have a good chance of making some good team contributions this month.
Hi, its a very tough time for all of us in the sport, lots of mud slinging,
but as a team we stick together and support our friends.
You explanation is fine and i look forward to your contributions to the team, nuff said, :yepp:
rock the house, team XS is rockin! :surf:
You're welcome Capt. BTW, congrats to your new position as our team captain. You are already doing a very good job of getting us into shape. If not for you I wouldve never known about what I did.
Its crazy. I'm kicking myself in the balls still.
Mistakes happen, now enough yappin and figure out a way to tag along with msimax next trip up here or some other means of travel.
I will whip you into shape really quick :)
Brian is right, give yourself a break. No harm was done and the issue was taken care of. It's all good! :)
Now get back to benching! :D
PS: Thanks!
Okay thanks guys for being good friends. the ups man just left. this is what we're dealing with:
http://i239.photobucket.com/albums/f...h/IMG_2845.jpg
these are for the single core contest for oct.
the boards I have are 1 intel p5k3 dlx. its old. Its buggy as hell, posts half the time and im trying to flash the bios atm.
for amd boards I have the trusty TA790GX A3+ and the TA880GB+ should be here tomorrow. I need to get my os's set up tonight and then figure out why pc2005 never completes the tests.
you made me smile BZ bone. I was so down about this. It really affected me and I'm just grateful to have you and the rest of the boys to support me. I really thought I was gonna see a bunch of mean posts telling me "we want you off the team" and "we cant take chances with this guy." its been totally the opposite. I'm really glad you guys are being understanding. it means a lot to me. :)
I just want to come back this month with some heavy points to make up for it all.
Hit me up on MSN/AIM if you need any help ( especially with my only Asus love, the P5K3D, treat her right and she'll show you her bright smile :D )
man I remember back in the day you and I sold our souls to this board and those early micron D9 kits. ;)
Trans am
Hey...buddy, things happen !
Let's forget the bad & strive for the good ;)
I can see the goodness of brotherhood here in XS, nice, very nice !
On behalf of the team I would like to thank hwbot staff for the following.
In lieu of recent events I just want to thank the hwbot staff for bringing this to our attention, and handling the matter both quickly and professionally whilst also being understanding and a big  for great communication in this matter.
Thx guys.
Going out to get 55L of LN2 for the 980x 3003B475...
Wish me luck!
Good luck!
Many nice scores have been posted today, especially Linuxfan has been very busy! Good work everyone! :)
http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/3...ber6th2010.jpg
LN2 is here are waiting. Prepping OSes and insulating in the morning then BENCHING! :D
Thanks for the update Daniel.
The laptops were fun to test. Actually still have some more CPU testing to do.
Friends don't let friends use kneaded eraser.
3 layers of Conformal spray & vaseline.
Much better in every single aspect.
Whats wrong with eraser?
And btw linuxfan, lovely looking setup :)
What pot you using?
Linuxfan, you hear about the new Mushkin sticks? It's like gluing a Redline to a Ridgeback... because they are... REDLINE RIDGEBACK!
Gotta do conformal just haven't jumped on the board yet. ;)
Thanks George!
Eraser doesn't insulate the board as well as a complete coating of rubber and you have to install it each time you want to bench.
The CPU pot was made by Ryba.
Here's what I was able to get today... I'm sure there's more clocks in the CPU though still feeling it out.
Superpi32M, 1M, and pifast next.
Kneaded eraser is good for "low" temp benching, as in temps being hold nearly statically in the -70 to -90C range.
For any kind of long term benching with seriously low temps ( -120 and higher ) kneaded eraser is only going to cause issues, it's going to get moist, and in an hour or so you'll be having water dripping in every corner of it.
Ah fair play
Even in the -30 to -40 range I sometimes get bleeding, but othertimes I don't, not sure why
Haven't got that cold yet (sadly :( ) so I guess I'll just have to find out.
xs is coming up on the single core challenge! great job you guys!
What are you running Linuxfan ?
Was running a lapped Q6600 G0 with some Crucial Ballistix D9 mem in a EP45-UD3P rev 1.0 board but had a CBB. Wasn't sure where the hot gas bypass valve was so I just had to shut 'er down. :(
Found it and am ready to roll today.
Will either test out the Q6600 on Cascade, Q9450 for the gold(and hope it doesn't CB at -120oC) or slap a Ceader Mill CPU in my DFI P35 T2R board to try for some 7ghz+ CPU-Z action on LN2(either the 347, 356, one of the 631s or a 651).
Too much to do and too little time. ;)
Try lowering the CPU PLL Voltage ( sub-specs ) it may lower the CBB & CB.
In the most recent stage of the ASUS 1156 Overclocking Championship, two of our members entered Top 10, chew* and FUGGER came in 5th and 7th respectively. Zeneffect made 15th place in this stage!
Good luck for the next stage!
In HWBot's OC Challenge October, thanks to some excellent submissions by chew* and G.Foyle, the team is currently ranked 2nd in the overall ranking, while still holding the record in the 3DMark Vantage stage. Nice work! :)
Tested the Q9450 on my EP45-UD3P rev. 1.0 board with the cascade...
Seems like the chip doesn't like to be overfrozen, didn't get much farther with clocks than my runs with the EP45T-UD3LR board and the SS unit. Seemed like it had a coldslow or something though, results started getting super slow at high speeds.
Might try on air tomorrow and see what I can figure out.
Cascade runs great. :D
me and chew this past weekend. massman wont let me submit in the oct. contest with his card. but for the record.
http://hwbot.org/community/submissio...870_9827_marks
The score Chew* got was higher so it wounldn't make a difference at all if you posted that score.
Its great that you were able to bench with Brian this last weekend, I'm sure it was a good experience.
Why don't you try some PCMark sometime with your three SSDs? I"m sure that'd be fun. :D
It's not just massman just the rules, you could submit to contest but not for HWbot points......but for contest only highest score counts.
That chip was looking promising till we found out the IMC was weak, and also killable with high vdimm :(
I almost killed my chip trying to match your chip for core clocks and still shy of 100 mhz :(
Your ram being higher on your 5850 means little in vantage, when we pretested the 5870 was worth over 500 points more stock versus your 5850 card clocked ;)
Plus i'm willing to kill my card ;) would hurt far less than if we killed yours.
Good job guys  I can't wait to be back for more PCM05.
So I bought 50l of LN2 today, and finished installing OSs and insulating the first board about an hour ago... The first board I wanted to give a spin was the Commando...
I entered Win with the pot mounted, but still at ambient temps, pulled it down to 100°C, everything was fine, so I rebooted at higher voltages. SetFSB'd my way up, crashed, CPU INIT error.
After heating up to about 70°C and unmounting everything it worked again, so I started again, pulled it down to 150°C, and used SetFSB again. At about 5.3GHz it crashed, CPU INIT error, and now I can't get rid of it. So far my LN2 session is a complete failure. :(
I'm open to new ideas...
If I can't get rid of it I'll stop for today, and try the REX tomorrow.
Right when I thought I had figured it out, CPU INIT again. Every second crash results in this stupid error, then I have to heat up to less than -70°C, then it will boot again.
I learned a lot today, and burned only 7 liters... could be worse.
Thanks for the post! :)
Yeah, that's what I figured out as well, it seems like some strap changes prevent me from going higher using SetFSB if I boot at low FSB. I'll try putting all the stuff on ignore tomorrow, thanks a lot for the tip.
I hope all this will help to get rid of that error. :shakes:
I read some threads about that error in the past hour, but it seems like there is no real solution.
I think it did crush this chip. It seemed like it was too cold for this CPU, I don't think it liked it.
Tried on stock cooler yesterday and it booted right up and did Wprime32M on at 4080mhz...
I'm on vacation now so I"ll play with it more in a few weeks.
Hope you get those commando LN2 issues figured out Daniel. It can be a real PITA to get stuff up to speed and figure out settings.
Yeah that was the plan. I had the lsi and my vertex 2s at brians but we never got around to the pent 430.
all I can say is I tried the pentium 430 in a sli 680i and the asus p5k3 dlx and the ddr2 sli 680 seems way faster than the ddr3 p5k3 but I cant seem to get the fsb on the 680i up.
Ill try it again.
Thanks Daniel, enjoy your vacation!
This took longer than expected, but I'm quite happy now, this should be the limit of an unmodded Commando, Vdroop is horrible...
Click for high frequency! ;)
At first I spent some more time with the 347, and managed to get up to 6785MHz, but after changing chips it turned out the 352 is a lot better.
----
NameGT posted an impressive AMD 1M score and the team broke 15800 points today.
PS: We are back in the lead in HWBot's OC Challenge October!
Nice run Don_Dan you hit the 7s! :D
I gotta try my luck with a few cellys and P4s when I get back from vacation....
Does anybody have a 980x they'd like to sell? Need a retail chip.
ahh ok.
I just finished my LN2-adventure and I've already checked and posted my validations. The E6300 was a very crappy chip, but the E8400 was rather nice.
In the end, 50 liters were too much for a first-timer like me, after testing the whole day I still had almost 10 liters left, with nothing more to do. I didn't want to change CPUs yet again as the air was very humid today and a lot of ice was already building up around the pot, so I tested some other stuff like Maxxmem and max FSB, but I just couldn't burn more LN2. Since I have to return the dewar tomorrow morning, there was no other possibilty than pouring it away. :(
I was very sad to see the rest of the LN2 go to waste, but the giant LN2-cloud that was wafting through the garden was a nice view, I've to admit that. ;)
I'll post the results tomorrow when I had a chance to look through all the screenshots, unfortunately WPrime did no longer work when I was on LN2, and when I noticed that it was already too late to install another OS. It doesn't matter much for the E6300, but the E8400 will have to be revisited in due time.
:up:great work with the e8400
i wanna see you freeze some rams :D
To freeze memory first you must have a purpose, second you must have an imc worth the time.
A good purposed would be say 32m pi at 2000 c6.
A bad purpose would be for say high mhz without having tested for a good IMC first and even then its more so to run tighter timings, not get higher mhz. ;)
I downloaded RealTemp 3.6 in a .rar and even after unzipping, all .exe's aren't compatible with the 955BE? What's going on here?
Are your running it as admin?
Yep, it just gives me a dialog box saying AMD Phenom II X4 955 is not supported.
isn't realtemp intel only?
