This is a killer Idea.... I am down, only have 30k ppd but I'll move these over if this is a go! Nice thinkin bob!

I gotta ask you all....
Build cost estimate for a crunching version of this rig, you know the stuff...... processors that will get to 4.0, enough ram to do it justice but no more and the quality/speed needed just to crunch 100k
No worries about a case I will go upmarket and use plywood instead of cardboard ;) (It would live in a server rack really)
EDIT: I'd throw a rig on Jon's account and be happy I could!!
Congrats MM, looks like a beautiful build. Glad to see it's running so well for you! Enjoy :)
Jeez, was I that transparent? I thought I was sneakier than that....Oh well, I tried...:up:
OK, back to business. I'll see if I can get Jon's key from the WCG folks. It worked before, so I think I may be able to come up with it.
4gig of 24 threads is awesome. Any idea what the power draw is now at that clock? Temperature drop is nice too.
My Harper rig is.............is so yesterday.....:(:yepp:....:ROTF:
Nice rig jcool. Got an idea of the build cost on that beast?
Regards,
Bob
vcore is 1.4v,VTT is 1.35v, same at 4000 as at tested 4200 and 4400
Temps at 100% load at 4200= mid 60's, at 4000= mid 50's
X5680's.. The top ones!:D 26 multi on turbo
Board:$600.00
Chips: $ varies but not cheap,$1000.00-$3000.00+
Memory: 6x2 gig PC3-10700 or better: maybe $500 and up..
PSU: minimum with as small vid card is a 1000W top unit: $380-$550
HS: TRUE's or better;$150.00
Case: At this point in time just the Mountain Mods will work..varies
Thank you!
app 680w at 100% load with 8 big fans and the GTX260 card
Lets see this thing play crysis on everthing wacked full with two 5970's. I know its not what its really for... but would be interesting to see nonetheless.
oh yeah...this rig is the answer to the ageold question
"But can it run Crysis?"
The answer
"And then sum"
Even if they only consume 200 watts at load, it would be a little hard me thinks ;). That's an extra 600 watts :p:. He'd have to rewire to get everything loaded on a single circuit...
Yeah nobody needs 4 x GTX 480 unless you want to use it for GPGPU, but maybe some smart PR-agents in EVGA could borrow a few GTX 480 to you for benching?.
The CPU-score of your setup + 4 x GTX 480 should break a few WR. It will get the EVGA GPU and MB on the top of the list. Were are those smart PR-people when you need them?
Movieman: i`ll fix one thing, you forgot to add this link to the thread, lets see The Thing get up to speed:shocked:

SHHH..Damn you. Do you want to scare all the AMD guys off the forum?
I mean they will look at that link in a couple days and take a sledgehammer to their systems!
You do realise they are nice folks too and this is just nasty to have them see the numbers this will do! :sofa:
I wonder what it would take to wedge this board into one of my ATCS 840 cases?
//goes to chat with Cooler Master
Not bad for it's first almost 1/2 day on WCG!
Essentially 11 hours and 21 minutes work...:hrhr:
Statistics
Date.... Total Run Time.. Points Generated.. Results Returned
3/17/10 0:011:21:33:56.......... 48,124............... 76
and the killer is it's getting almost all of what it's claiming..
Maybe IBM's servers are looking at this and going WTF?:ROTF:
I think it is called a Dremel :)
I can't believe the prices I found even for the L5640...here in UK $1257 is average it seems
I wonder how many gpugrid points could be pulled off with 4x295's? It would be great to break 100,000ppd for wcg and gpugrid on the same machine.
I know a single GTX275 is about 20k / day for me. 4*GTX295 = 8*GTX275 = 8*20k = 160k ppd? Rough estimate!
