Exactly, I didn't started...
I ask my apologies, I also wanted to edit my post,but U did it.
Thankl U and my apologies again.:stop:

Any idea why they pulled the 0501 bios off the site and replaced it with 0410?
410 ? New bios again ??? :eek:
EDIT : 410 is the new bios for rampage formula . 501 is still on asus website.
Of course... my appologies his avatar brought back memories for me. Took it to PM now.
Now back to the motherboard - anyone else running 8GB with it?
I have Diablo in 8GB config the maximum speed it will let me choose is 1600MHz while the memory is 2000MHz (well 1866MHz for Intel chipsets).
i had a few liters of LN2 left over after my CF HD4850 session today so i figured i would see how my solid E8400 would handle the cold. cold bug right around -120C so not bad. the volts were un-necessarily high and i think the 630FSB limit was a board limit. like i said, only a couple liters of LN2 to play with so i stayed safe. as it turned out, the 32M was only loop 20 when i ran out and temps dropped to -60C by the time it finished, gonna stick the single stage phase on and see if i can get close on it tomorrow sometime.
here are the results from a quick 40 minute session :up:
as for the GPUs, well, i didn't have temp probes for them so it was more of a "see if i can get anything" session and it went pretty good, except my E8600 didn't want to bench at even 600*10 so the numbers weren't that good. i did squeeze out a 114K 01 at 1075MHz core but the ORB didn't upload properly and i froze getting the screenshot ready. here is a 111K at lower clocks and no tweaks or run order...man 1000+ in nature on these cards is fun ;)
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9414963
and the 101K 03 i managed to squeeze out, this time i lost the screen shot transferring over the network or something. i might have just saved it to the wrong place...
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=5932641
these cards have to go back sometime and with the E8600 not wanting to clock past 6GHz anymore, i might not waste my time trying to bench them again. next is a single GTX 280 then maybe HD4870s will be next or some HD4870 X2 action ;)
Nice results there 3oh6. :up:
Maybe a subzero cooling solution on the NB will raise the limit?
I think you made a typo at the 32M score 18 minutes instead of 8. ;)
hehe, yeah, i caught the 18M killer E8400 typo and made the edits...thanks.
yes, i am hoping a colder solution on the NB will raise that. i had such a little amount of LN2 left that i didn't even have time to confirm the NB was the limit by upping tRD. will do some more testing before the next fill. i just knew this E8400 of mine was a killer chip...just need to find more FSB from this board. imagine if only my 790i could have run this guy this fast :eek:
Planing to remove the passive cooling on the board and replace it with some Thermalright mosfet cooler, but i dont know which i should choose from sidewinder. Hope someone can help me here :)
* Thermalright HR-09U Type 2 Mosfet Cooler
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thhrty2moco.html
* Thermalright HR-09S Type 2 Mosfet Cooler
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thhrty2moco1.html
* Thermalright HR-09U Type 3 Mosfet Cooler
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thhrty3moco.html
Then some lowprofile chipsetcooler for SB. Any tips there from sidewindercomputers.com ?
Im using the Thermalright HR-09U Type 2 & HR-09S Type 2 and they fit great :)
Looks like Bitspower will be making a block that covers the NB VRM as well as the NB/SB similer to this design;

:up::up:
Just picked up my rampage extreme. Nice one:D
I see quite a few people opting for third party cooling. Is the fusion block not up to scratch? Is it too restrictive because of the silly little connectors/barbs? Why do they go for these small barbs(right word?), I don't get that?
I'll have another read through this thread, but dare I ask what is the best bios to date?
Cheers
RLM
Glad you jumped in...the water is fine!:) In other words, I think you will be impressed on water or air.
Are you going to use your Quad or go with the ever so impressive E8600?
Swiftech's NB block is overdue and we can't seem to get any updates from Gabe. I just sent a PM to ViperJohn to see if he is going to produce a NB block for the RE as his work is consistently good. Someone else posted that EK and Bitspower where also going to come up with cooling solutions for the NB. I haven't tried the stock solution and don't plan to. Like you said, those itty bitty barbs...why Asus?
Looking forward to your contributions as well.
Cheers Shonuff,
I was very close to picking up a BlackOPS instead, but I think this is the right choice. Helluva board.
I might have to order some more stuff from Eddy then.Quote:

Really puzzled now.
I can run 10x450 ram at 900 7-6-5-18 fully stable, tested up to 100% with memtest 3.7
9x500 with the same timings is also stable in memtest.
8x563 ram at 900 7-6-5-18 throws the odd error in memtest.
7.5x600 is freaking unstable with ram at 900 7-6-5-18, no matter the NB and RAM voltage, no matter the RAM speed or PL.
At cas 8 it's fully stable at 600 FSB again.
Everything is at auto, except Vcore and Vddr.
I've tried up to 1.76V on the NB, it did not exceed 52ºC, no joy. :(
WTF?? :shrug:
There appears to be a new bios, 0503, linked by pmp on his thread;
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=201035
Anyone happen to catch the BIOS? the link is dead at the moment...
the fushion block is just fine and works quite well, but...getting correct pressure for the whole assembly is hit and miss. if you have high temps, you will want to do the nylon washer trick which adds more mounting pressure to the whole heat pipe assembly. dropped temps 10C to 15C across the board for my NB temps.
i have been absolutely throttling this board with the CPU under LN2 and phase for the better part of two weeks and been on the Fusion block the whole time. yes the barbs are too small and they make for a bloody mess going down from a 1/2" loop in that area so i am all for another block at this point and that swiftech one looks nice...when it comes out. i may also go the route of others here and go straight custom for the NB PWM and NB cooling. i tend to be cheap so i will likely make something out of old AMD heat sinks and MC/14s along with a water block...just need to find time.
as for BIOS, the consensus is still 0403 but i have been benching with 0206...it likes sub zero temps better. HTH
Well, mine just arrived as well and it's sad to hear that the watercooling portion of this motherboard is not adequate at 1.7v. The barbs on the NB are rediculous to say the least. Damn, I don't want to remove it and find an alternate solution to cooling that eternal_fantasy had to do.:(
Mike - Sorry if you have already posted this but what kind of NB temps are you getting with your 24/7 settings?
I think you should try the nylon washer method some are having success with. 3oh6 seems to be doing great with the fusion block cooling his RE northbridge. Then when you think you are getting instability caused by the northbridge being too hot then replace with custom coolings.. saves you time and money you may not need to spend :up:
yeah i gotta agree, the Fusion block is pretty solid and should satisfy most peoples needs...with good mounting of the heat pipe assembly as EF said. here is a pic from my review of the nylon washers...
http://images.hardwarecanucks.com/im.../re/heat-8.jpg
you can see the results of the nylon washer mod in the Heat & Acoustical Testing in the full review. the testing was done at 1.50v but to be honest, anything higher really isn't necessary for most if not all 24/7 setups. with that said, the Fusion block has no problem benching at 1.7v...trust me ;)
all credit goes to Maxxx, he was the first to do the plastic washer trick...i just copied and got great results ;)
i am sure direct contact is far superior but to save some of the hassle of cooling the rest of the components, a few nylon washers at $0.10 a pop sure does a great job and about 80% of the cooling performance.
@3oh6: hehehe, thanks. Credit goes to everyone here. Looks like you did find a better solution. I need to find those stuff here. :)
Guys, are the thermal tape on the mosfet coolers re-usable? Or are there better alternative to those if your keeping the stock cooling? I didn't take them out when I replace the thermal paste on the NB and SB. TIA....
