Any idea why they pulled the 0501 bios off the site and replaced it with 0410?

i had a few liters of LN2 left over after my CF HD4850 session today so i figured i would see how my solid E8400 would handle the cold. cold bug right around -120C so not bad. the volts were un-necessarily high and i think the 630FSB limit was a board limit. like i said, only a couple liters of LN2 to play with so i stayed safe. as it turned out, the 32M was only loop 20 when i ran out and temps dropped to -60C by the time it finished, gonna stick the single stage phase on and see if i can get close on it tomorrow sometime.
here are the results from a quick 40 minute session :up:
as for the GPUs, well, i didn't have temp probes for them so it was more of a "see if i can get anything" session and it went pretty good, except my E8600 didn't want to bench at even 600*10 so the numbers weren't that good. i did squeeze out a 114K 01 at 1075MHz core but the ORB didn't upload properly and i froze getting the screenshot ready. here is a 111K at lower clocks and no tweaks or run order...man 1000+ in nature on these cards is fun ;)Quote:

these cards have to go back sometime and with the E8600 not wanting to clock past 6GHz anymore, i might not waste my time trying to bench them again. next is a single GTX 280 then maybe HD4870s will be next or some HD4870 X2 action ;)

Planing to remove the passive cooling on the board and replace it with some Thermalright mosfet cooler, but i dont know which i should choose from sidewinder. Hope someone can help me here :)

I see quite a few people opting for third party cooling. Is the fusion block not up to scratch? Is it too restrictive because of the silly little connectors/barbs? Why do they go for these small barbs(right word?), I don't get that?

Really puzzled now.
I can run 10x450 ram at 900 7-6-5-18 fully stable, tested up to 100% with memtest 3.7
9x500 with the same timings is also stable in memtest.
8x563 ram at 900 7-6-5-18 throws the odd error in memtest.
7.5x600 is freaking unstable with ram at 900 7-6-5-18, no matter the NB and RAM voltage, no matter the RAM speed or PL.
At cas 8 it's fully stable at 600 FSB again.
Everything is at auto, except Vcore and Vddr.
I've tried up to 1.76V on the NB, it did not exceed 52ºC, no joy. :(

the fushion block is just fine and works quite well, but...getting correct pressure for the whole assembly is hit and miss. if you have high temps, you will want to do the nylon washer trick which adds more mounting pressure to the whole heat pipe assembly. dropped temps 10C to 15C across the board for my NB temps.Quote:

Well, mine just arrived as well and it's sad to hear that the watercooling portion of this motherboard is not adequate at 1.7v. The barbs on the NB are rediculous to say the least. Damn, I don't want to remove it and find an alternate solution to cooling that eternal_fantasy had to do.:(
Mike - Sorry if you have already posted this but what kind of NB temps are you getting with your 24/7 settings?
I think you should try the nylon washer method some are having success with. 3oh6 seems to be doing great with the fusion block cooling his RE northbridge. Then when you think you are getting instability caused by the northbridge being too hot then replace with custom coolings.. saves you time and money you may not need to spend :up:Quote:

you can see the results of the nylon washer mod in the Heat & Acoustical Testing in the full review. the testing was done at 1.50v but to be honest, anything higher really isn't necessary for most if not all 24/7 setups. with that said, the Fusion block has no problem benching at 1.7v...trust me ;)

Guys, are the thermal tape on the mosfet coolers re-usable? Or are there better alternative to those if your keeping the stock cooling? I didn't take them out when I replace the thermal paste on the NB and SB. TIA....
You can reuse the thremal tape i dont think you will find any other thats any better. make sure you work zone is really clean that way it wont get contaminated and you should be good to go :up:Quote:
