Machinus: I am using 2x2gb GSkill pc2 8500 at the moment.
Still working on 4.4ghz, looking better.

4hours (or close enough) Prime blend 4.4ghz. I took my OCZ LV1.8v ram out and put my GSkill f2-8500CL5D 2.1v kit in. Forgot to set ram voltage back to 2.1v, started Prime up and has been running at this voltage stable. I am running 1:1 so maybe 2.1v is not needed?
Thank you Sergio for your help on MSN, you have been a huge help to me in learning this board and getting settings right to become stable.:up:

Passed blend overnight. :D

Well as i cant prime this beast not even on water at this vcore i decided to left it overnite folding...the giga loves this 4500 /1200 :D

Sergio
Wow Nice Vcore U Guys
I'm Try To Stable With 1.42Volt On 500 FSB
Finnaly Kill DFI :D And Kill Myself Too :))
Thanks Sergio. Great job with your 4500mhz. Its hard to Prime a low VID chip at over 1.4v even with water as you know. I think I have reached my limits also with temps in Prime.
Vivid, I hope you will try the Gigabyte UD3P or UD3R board when you are done with your DFI. I believe you will be able to do much better and possibly with less voltage using the Giga board.
It's a shame that these awesome VID chips have such high temps... I'm getting roughly 65C load on air with 1.368v, and my ambient is warm and my case all closed up, so I may yet aim for 4.35 provided the temps are not too high and the FSB is relatively easy to stabilize :D
Id rather have higher temps than require higher volts, you can always control the temps but not the volts.
ok, maybe a bit off, but when will Q9650 get a "good" price drop? at $320-350 it's still too expensive (considering it's an "old" Core 2 architecture...)
Twin quads Tom lol :D
never primed 10 hours lol first time ever

Nice OC Sergio!
Looks like Windows 7 is some computing platform!
Sergio's 10hr P95 run on Win7 resulted in about 550 tests done on each core. Tom's 14hr P95 run on Vista, however, got about 630 tests done on each core. If we extrapolate Sergio's P95 speed, to get 630 tests done it would only need about 11.5 hours! That's a whopping 2.5 hrs ahead after a half-day racing just by upgrading the OS!
I am very impressed.. Did you tweak something on the Win7, Sergio?
Nope just standard 7600RTM install...
Tom's running 7100RC version mems at PL9 / trfc 68 on 1:1 on other divider and standard profile (correct me Tom if its not like this), also using prime version 25.9 x64
Im runing 7600RTM running PL9 1174Mhz / trfc 52, standard profile on 2.04B divider and using prime version 25.11
Really didnt pay much attention on that...weird i didn't tweak anything its just standard W7 installation of 7600 x64 ultimate
Cheers
Sergio
I don't have any 2x2gb stix that will do 1200 240b 5:6 divider. I have a set of OCZ LV platinums that require me to use the 4:5 divider but become unstable over 1200mhz. Have to run 1:1 200d for anything over 480FSB. I am in W764bit 7100 version.
You guys have very similar chips - 4.4 @ 1.376v, very nice
I've been taking my CPU down a notch at a time trying to get it as low as possible for 4.3GHz...been priming for nearly 2 hours at 1.356v (bios) so now I'm going for gold: 1.35v :D
Working on lowering vcore and trying the newer version of Prime.
http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/2161/1344vcpre.png
Nub, what fans are you using on your rad?
I have been switching between the scythe 110cfm and the scythe 133cfm, ATM Im on the 110's. Doesn't seem to make a lot of difference.
Same settings Sergio other than vcore and set mem to pl9 turbo, I think this Prime is allowing me to drop the vcore but not positive about that. This prime seems faster or runs through the loops faster. At the end of each loop the temps get the hottest so if it doesn't stay there as long the temps drop back down faster. At least that's my theory lol.
wow, and its still getting that hot. How much hotter is this chip over your other 9650, voltage to voltage?
I have 2 sensors that are screwed, They read from 6 to 8c higher than cores 0 and 1. On my other chip they were just bugged at idle but on this chip they never even out, so I have just been going by the CPU temp in Everest. The other chip had a little higher VID and could run up to 1.475v bios before it got to hot to prime. I ran 30 minute Prime at 4.5ghz earlier and had to stop because CPU temp hit 80c. Cant control the temps on this chip past 1.39v even with water.
Been playing with my settings for a couple of days and this CPU just gets better and easier to clock. Been Prime steady for over 5 hours so far. Gotta love it. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=616822http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...on/screen6.jpg
Hy. I have a question. What do you think about a combination of this water cooling components:EK Supreme + Magicool 240mm Extreme + 2 Scythe Ultra Kaze 120mm 38mm 2000rpm + EK flexible tube + black metal fittings + Laing DDC-1T PRO (modded to Ultra) + rezervoir EK DDC X-RES 100 + aditiv Feser Base Corrosion blocker? Is it a good one? Is compatible with Gigabyte EP45-UD3P and/or Biostar Tpower I45?
Thank you,
Florin
I figured 2 of the sensors were bugged but im still a little surprised the other two were reading that hot with your water setup. Maybe another rad or different rad would help keep that hot head under control. When I added the mcr320 it dropped my temps another 5C, thats with yates low speed fans, ~50cfm.
@Nub, very nice vcore there. Were you at 1.39 for 4.5GHz?
I managed to lower vcore for 4.3GHz - this is as low as it will go. 1.344v primes for three hours then the PC restarts, which is frustrating, but I'm happy with this. Max temp was 65C.
http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...00mhz1352v.png
Lenny: Nice OC! Was at 1.396 or maybe 1.408 trying for 4.5ghz.
Hoss: I thought this was suppose to be a good RAD. Could be my setup IDK, this was my first time setting up water cooling. I am using the Feser One also, would that cause the temps to run warmer than distilled?
Still going at 1.344v. If this passes I will keep it as my 24/7 clocks.
http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/5573/stillgoing.png
Thank you Sergio. Just stopped Prime at 10hours 15 min passed 492-502 tests. I guess your faster mem speed is getting you through more tests in the same time frame. maybe causing you to need a little more vcore also.
http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/9...lowervcore.png
My CPU score is still lower in 06 with the new CPU. Has to be because it is at 1:1 mem.
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/8663/06best.png
Impressive cpu speed at that voltage, congrats.
Always nice if you manage to get one of these, but as usual, it's luck of the draw.
Thanks Jupiler.
It is a good rad, im just wondering if your setup MAY respond to more rad, mine did. I started out with just the mcr220 because my case was predrilled for it and use the stock 140mm top fans. The way it is positioned in the case is not exactly ideal (fans overhang the rad on 4 corners allowing some air to be pulled around the rad instead of through) but would still keep the 9650 around 65c at 1.36-1.37. I bought the 320 and the yates sl to add to it and my temps stay around 60c even with my northbridge block in the loop. I use distilled water but I dont think the feser would be hurting you.
Thanks,
Are you running this on 1 pump? My other thought was that my res is too large, its about the size of a large bong for lack of better description. I have it full to the top. I was wondering if the water had too much time to warm back up before it made it back to the CPU? Less water may be better but IDK .
NVM that should matter because it leaves the rad and goes to the CPU.
yea just 1 355 with an xspc res. top, the most restrictive part is the cpu block followed by the 220. I have mine going pump-> cpu-> nb-> 220-> 320.
I went res- pump-rad-cpu thinking the coolest water would be coming out of the rad. Maybe I should try it a different way next time I tear it down.
Sergio made me feel like a sissy for running 1:1 so I went and got w7 32bit and put a 2x1gb kit of Reapers in to try and get over 1200mhz stable. :D Just the beginning of another long night of Prime.
http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/1461/4400.png
Thank you.
Does anyone have a chart or graph of the heat output in watts for the q9650 at different levels of overclock? I was trying to find a way to determine the effectiveness of watercooling as there are existing charts for heatwatt loads for particular radiators.
And does anyone have a graph of the power wattage demands at different levels of overclock? This is the only variable that changes in my setup, and I'm wondering if a new power supply is in order..
Thanks
Here is mine at 4.7GHz running wPrime 1024M. No idea how accurate the Dynamic Energy Saver utility is but it is the best I have.
At 3GHz it read close to 55 watts under the same load.
http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...Primepower.jpg
If you want I'll run it as whatever speed you would like as long as it's stable enough.:D
Nice clocks.
So i took my pc to my other balcony and let the sanyos breath 13C to 15C temps i did some tests for fun :D

Wait, so your UD3P doesn't come with all light-blue Nippon Chemi-Con solid caps, instead some of them are the purple Sanyo's? I've seen both layouts and always thought the boards with all light-blue NCC caps would overclock better. I guess it's just a myth (since the DFI days). :p:
BTW, great temps at 4.7GHz there!
Edit: typo with NCC...
Great work getting the Q9650 to 4.7ghz for a bench andressergio! Amazing!
Nice work andressergio! Impressive clocks.
Hey Guys,
I'm still on my pc vacations. I ordered some Acard ANS-9010 and SSD's to try to catch the FutureMark WR, but for now the Q9650 is shut down till further notice.
I'm glad you guys are having fun.
Sergio nice 4500Mhz ride! OCNub outstanding 4890x2 benches!
Keep the thread alive.
Thank you Jor.

Nice run Segio.
Just got my F2-9600CL5D-4GBTD ram. Hope I can get a much better OC now. =)
I know I am missing out not using that 9600 gskill ram but I have a hard time paying that much for ddr2 mem. I know it use to be much more expensive but still with the price of ram now it is hard to fork out 140 USD for a
4gb kit of ddr2
I was waiting and waiting for the OCZ 9600 LV Blades to come back in stock seems how they are quite a bit cheaper, but who knows when they will be available again. I got tired of waiting and the Tridents are in stock so I went with them.
I am curious to see how they do for you. I am tired of waiting also. Keep us posted please.
Nice OCs on the Q9650s guys! I'm going to try and get better results on HWBot with my Q9650 next week here, last time I tested it I hit a barrier with some 800mhz ram running at 1050mhz, I have a nice 1066 set now...
Very nice low Vcores also, I've been using more for each clock.
Took some sheets of plastic and formed duct going from my ac unit to my rad, Everest reads my CPU temp at 22c idle now at 1.3v . Will try and get 4.5 stable this weekend and catch up to you Sergio. Think this chip may need some burn in time though. Have only had it a little over 1 week.
22c and dropping :yepp:
Ok ran 14 minutes of 8k to see how temps were. 55c isn't bad for this cpu.
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/9248/8ktemps.png
Thanks Sergio. Finally was able to do a short blend run at 4.5ghz, 3hours no errors. :D Will mess with it some more this weekend. :D
http://img79.imageshack.us/img79/3946/453hours.png
hello,
want to now why the cores under prime95 are getting different test numbers?
for example finishing a 20K test, core0 may take 15, core 1 take 11, core2&3 take 14
where core 0 , 2, 3, usually are variable
Hey guys, what were your MCH core voltages running at when you did your record runs at 4.7ghz+? I've not had mine over 1.46v I think...
Thanks.
Thank you Sergio.
LinuxFan: at 1:1 mem I was using 1.460vmch, but only ran 3dmark 06 successfully. Failed SuperPI. Need more than 1.46v for any stability.
Thanks for the help on the MCH voltages, never knew that... hopefully I can get a better clock when i raise that, I wasn't sure how far I could go and didn't want to burn it up.. :ROTF:
Just keep a good fan on the nb.
and pull off the cover plate
Yeah I figured I need some nice airflow on it when I run it that high... there's going to be good airflow through it all, I have many fans to go with the WCing setup, I think it'll be ok there. Don't think I"ll pull off the plate for the NB though, would it help the fans cool it a lot?
Thanks for your helpfulness!
thanks for your help
different time for finishing the test should be normal right?
but how about the number of test?
like i run small fft, if 3 cores take 16 tests to finish a 20k test, the other one take 15, would there be any problem? or meaning unstable?
thanks!
i am really having trouble to 4.4ghz
