i flashed 2005 today and i am running 500x9 without any problems. ;)

Hi im new to the forums, and basically after a little advice. Im running a q9550 EO, 1.2 vid chip at 3.6ghz (8 hrs small FFT stable) on the settings below.
http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...55036ghzv2.jpg
bios rev, 1406
8.5x425
fsb-nb, 333mhz
ram at 510mhz ddr2, 5-5-5-15
vcore, 1.21250
pll, 1.54
nb, 1.14
vtt, 1.14
vdimm, 2.02
gtl's on auto.
Currently running blend test, all good so far. Looking to hopefully hit 4ghz eventually, my main concern is the chip voltages, ie pll, vtt and nb, and how far i might have to go on theese. This is the first 45nm cpu ive used after previously having a q6600 clocked @3.8ghz on air. Many thanks for any advice.:)
Ave,
I've got a big problem. I flashed to Ket's Modded BIOS and that didn't help either. My video encoding applications are crashing unless I'm on Stock. I tried 2001, 2005 and Ket's Modded BIOS and the same result with all of them -- Crashes on OC'ing ... Stable on Stock.
So I decided to go back to BIOS 1406 on which all my OC Settings worked and I had stability with all my Encoding applications for months now. (This all started the moment I upgraded 1406 -> 2005; Bad Idea!)
Anyways - When I try to flash 1406 --> It says:
"The version of ROM is older then the existing Board"
It *Only* gives me this error when I try to flash down t0 1406 ... it doesn't give me this error on Any Other BIOS (Including 1702 & 1805). This is preposterous. The one BIOS I want to flash to, it won't let me.
I'm using EZ Flash in the BIOS to flash BIOS.
What do I have to do to get 1406 back on my Motherboard??
PM me your email. I had to use an ES version of afudos to flash back to 1406. I can also send you the HP USB format tool and the files to make your USB stick like a bootable DOS floppy. Thats how I had to flash to 1406.
Anyways PM me if you want me to send that to you.
Are you just loading your OC profile with the newer bios versions?
I'm doing some tests these days with a p5q-dlx+8500 E0
actually i'm trying to find out which is the best bios.
2001 : 500x8.5 , 1.3vcore , 1.2 NB (NB GTL .620), 1,2 vFSB , 1.52PLL , PL=10 , all others to minimum setting = STABLE@orthos blend+small (aprox 2H)
2005 : -//- same settings , @ orthos = pc bsod after 20min blend.
So...whats the best bios for E0 cpus ? 2001 ?xmm
Guys you can't trust that the values between different bios versions will be the same with out a DMM. Look at the reports of vDimm overvolting on most bios versions and being fixed on a couple. The same settings that are stable on one bios might not work on another.
@bababooeyHTJ: canīt i find the ES version of afudos ? where did u get it ? because it is not possible to go back to 1406 with the asus afudos
edit: done.. got the vers. 2.36 ES
new bios out:
P5Q Deluxe BIOS 2201
Update Express Gate to v1.4.6.9
not sure how a 1.18MB bios file can updates express gate
they also haven't listed the new express gate update to the 'utilities' section. not sure what this bios update is about, maybe someone can fill us in.
i have used bios 2101 of asus.
main P5Q-E.
i have 8gb ram (4x2gb) gskill. F2-8000CL5-2GBPQ...
i can not run all 8gb on my system. because prime95 always fail.
but i run 4gb ram, it works well...
how can i run all 8gb on system...
thanks
Sadly :(, I have cold boot problems with a P5Q Deluxe and a pair of Ballistix Tracer 800 (2x1GB, 16FD3)
It doesnt matter which of the settings do I change in the BIOS, or the color of the slots that I use, it just dont post after a couple of hours turned off. Everytime that this happens, I need to put a pair of Patriot 2x512 667, enter the OS, shutdown and put the ballistix for them to work. With the Patriot AND the Ballistix the system will post, but just to bring me a BSOD in the first boot, after that the system is rock solid (2 Hours of Orthos and 10 pass IBT Standard)
Here are my actual BIOS settings :
I've also tried :Quote:

Tried upping NB voltage, loosening TRFC value to eg 60 or higher ? Better to post ya bios settings so we can have a look

Hello guys,
I'm trying to overclock my Q9650 :
Asus P5Q deluxe bios 1306
Q9650 (9*467MHz ) + Ifx14-10 with scythe Slisptream 1200rpm
2*2Gb Gi-Skill Pi Black 8500
POV 8800 GTS640
PSU : Corsair HX520
stable under OCCT and LinX
I would like to have your help. Do you see values that I should avoid (too high to get something safe) or improvements that should be done?

Thank you in advance.
Try to get the rams off the 1:1 Divider, I would settle at 450FSB and run them at 1081. I needed some GTL tweaking at the NB to get the quad stable...even more with 500FSB
Some remarks : Your TRFC is too tight for 2Gb dimms, same for the clock twister Moderate : a bit too stressfull for the dimms... with 1:1 divider
Try the above changes in BOLD first and see what gives... I would run Memtest and try test 7 first for NB GTL tweaking, if that passes try test 5. If both pass 5 runs then it's ram stable, if not more tweaking is required...
Thank you very much for your help.
Il will try this values.
Nevertheless may I ask you why are you advising 1.52v for CPU PLL Voltage . There is no risk for my cpu with such value (H24 use)?
:yepp:
no worries, FSB term and Vcore are considered as more dangerous, not PLL mate... if everything is well cooled no biggie
thinh is these P45's are far easier to get stable when you ar enot on the 1:1 divider eg I had a very hard time to stabilise my quad at 500FSB with the rams at 1000mhz, with the rams at 1200mhz it was a 5 minute job...
As for your bios I would upgrade to at least 14series... I don't own this mobo anymore so it would be better to ask the current users which is the best bios for your quad...
Why do people consider too much PLL to be dangerous? What exactly would that cause?
Im interested in this also, im currently running 1.54 PLL, 1.26 NB AND 1.4 VTT, have my EO q9550 at 3.8ghz (8.5x425) i was at 3.6ghz on the same settings (except vcore which i bumped to 1.21875 in bios) i had a few issues running prime blend until i switched cpu margin enhance to performance, which really helped. Last night i upped the FSB to 450mhz, ran small FFT for almost 5 hours without issue. Ive had this board since release but at that time i had a q6600 which i took to 3.8ghz on air pretty easily, this 45nm quad i have now seems a bit trickier to get right.
my board died the other day for no apparent reason, fans on, lights on, just flashes p182 case power light, doesnt even post bios. Initially I thought it was just a gone to sleep in V64 issue.
went through everything, hard reset, cmos, 1 stick ram, 1 video card, reset cpu, checked with new PSU
Asus agree board dead and RMA time arrrgggh,
no symptoms or problems, working one night, next morning no power up
