Someone rma'ed their board over this? rofl
I think he will/did :X
Have any of you guys managed to get 1T memory timings running on this board because I can't  I was running all the same components in my P5N32E-SLI and ran 1T no problem?
Please advise, Thanks
Thanks Warboy  I've not been able to get 1T at all and I've tried all sorts of settings. I guess the ram has to be fully compatable with the board also to get 1T working. I may have just been lucky with my Corsair memory and the P5N32E-SLi in getting it to work so easily.
This is happening cuase of a certain FSB, then it's normal since the 1st LGA775 ASUS with native 1066FSB support (the ASUS P5AD2-E). It is the mobo power regulator configuring to PSU and mobo to make sure voltages are correct before firing up all at once. Some mobos that did not use this would not boo if the PSU could not regulate fast enough, and it was especially noticable when overclocking as the power demand changed.
A delay in power is normal whenever changing voltages or major settings such as RAM timings so that changes can be written to eprom and configured before you restart.
Read my previous post, this is exactly what I just said I did except for the point where I had to use Live Update to revert backwords. The type of external storage made no difference from which I flashed BIOS ROM from, each USB mini HDD, full size USB HDD, and Even my USB docked PSP game wich I used mostly for it's speed and performance with high speed Pro Stick Duo.
The only option I forgot to actually try was recovery from CD as I do now get the CMOS fail error and prompt for recovery.
So I'm not sure what different you were reffering to, I guess you were talking about flashing back to stock BIOS on CD or saved since 1st flash, and if so also requires using a windows based flashing utility since the ASUS EZ-Flash will not let you revert backwords (see earlier post).
any news from Tony about the "rampage" bios ?
i edited rampage bios and replaced the rom id module from the maximus with no luck...
always got ROM ID error during flashing.
Not had time, but I do know there are 2 places you must edit the bios. So you may have 1 down 1 to go
What should the Rampage bios give the SE owners ? Well I hope Asus releases fewer boards as this would aid their bios engineers to sort out some issues we had from day one... more options for transaction booster ? more ram timings ? can the X38 handle it ? or is this why the X48 might be better ?
Wouldn't it be better if we just could swap the NB chip with an X48 :) that would be fun to do lol
Back to the BIOS issues fr a sec. So has anybody here confirmed, that reverting back from 907 with Live Update caused issues whn wanting to move (flashZ) up again? Can anybody even confirm that reverting all the way back to 401 v/s just the last good tested one made a difference?
Can I just get feedback on any bad BIOS flash experience?
I flashed from 802 to 901 and nothing would post unless all settings were auto. Once the OS loaded ( and it took for 4ever) the computer ran like an old 486DX everything took along time to load.
I have a 10mbit cable line and a web page took over 5mins to load.
So after a little help from Kup I manged to revert back to 802 using Asus Update from windows.
I have also gone from 907 to 903 using windows method and back to 907 using EZ Flash ( bios ) method...So far I have never had a problem with loading a new bios or reverting to a previous bios whether it be in windows or bios.
I can honestly say I cannot feel or see any difference from 802 to present bios. unless you include the addition of the half multi. Personally there is no benifit upgrading from 802 but I'm sure others will disagree
I'm wating for the QX9770 and the Asus Rampage to show up on newegg
Only difference between x48 and x38 is a USB glitch which board manufacturers had a work-around for anyway. Guess Intel found an opportunity to release the same chipset twice!
If Asus tries to treat the x38 any different from x48 (which they seem to be doing already) then my relationship with Asus boards WILL end with this board. This board is a very good board, but I won't have its full potential crippled by an attempt to promote x48 boards over it.
Edit: Now, how many times did I mention "board" in this post? :)
I can only speak for myself; this board (and my Q6600) is so easy to OC, and run at low volts I am kinda shocked. Currently running at 3.2 ghz with 1.3 volts in bios. PI and OCCT stable with 4 ballistix sticks for a total of 4 gb and all 4 cores running at max. Ram volts is set to 1.9 I think it is in bios, that is lower then specs. SB is set at low as I can get it, 1.007 or so. NB is set to 1.47 or so, dont remember for sure.
In my Antec 182 case with fans at medium, the CPU maxes out at about 55Celsius, and the NB at about 52 or so. If I run the top 2 fans at max, the CPU maxes at about 50C with all cores at 100%, NB is 48 or so. That is with FSB strap at 400 mhz, so the ram and cpu is running in sync.
Havent bothered going higher then 3.2 ghz yet (my sig is not up to date, currently at work).
PS The CPU fan is ONLY running at default/non rehostat speed of about 1000 rpm, can run it higher with a rehostat(?) for even lower temps. The mobo qfan controll on the mobo dont work with the Nexus fans, since its only 2 pin fan. As far as I know most are 2 pin fans, but the intel bundled fans are 3 pins.

There was a major difference in v0907 for mine, ACPI support was all out of wack, no S3 or S4 full reliability. It would almost always hang on resume from S3 and fail to even enter S3 on each OC profiles and tested stable 1:1 as well (wich worked flawlessly on 1:1 in all up to v0903). My5:6 divider felt a bit smoother in 0903 at each 500x and 480x for DDR1200 and 1152. S3 reliability was not 100% on the 5:6, but S4 in and out was fine.
I noticed a major difference (unless it changed since), X48 doesn't appear to offer ECC DDR RAM support. Please correct me if I'm wrong and it has been updated since. I do see X48 to be better timed for DDR3. And for the builders who insist on releasing a DDR2 X48, it will more then likely be limited to DDR overclocking.
sigh, guess maximus formula isnt getting a new bios after 0907, its taking far too long
sure it is, I have newer than 0907
is there another version out thats not a beta release?
