I've got a 1999 Ford F350 Super Duty.
7.3 Powerstroke, ZF6 6 speed manual, 4WD, super cab long bed.
I'll put pics up later.
Only mods right now are a big honkin air filter (BHAF mod) and straight pipe.
Just a little honda crv :(
WOW, US design sucks compared to EU design. LMAO
Zomg
I totally agree. I thought about simple redesign of headlights or something, but this is
a whole different car.
Yep, this is the general design of the 2008-2011 US Focus. Got it for about $13k out the door. This is my first car and I got it new so I really can't complain. It's got the Duratec 2.0 4cyl. The only BAD thing about the car is the crappy automatic transmission, otherwise everything is really great. I love it, I've had it for about a year and sure beats the hell out of any Civic, Fit, Versa, or Yaris I've ever seen (although I'd like new 17" wheels). We will be getting the Euro Focus for the 2012 model year and I must say it looks AWESOME! Maybe I can trade mine in then! :D

I really do need to wash it though, I take really good care because it is my car after all. I haven't been able to wash it in over two months because it's been raining every friggin' day here in Miami.

Thank your luck for being in Miami, here in Finland we got much rougher weathers raping our cars. This summer it's been top +37c degrees and in the wintertime it can get as low as -30c degrees. Including the salt that they spread on the roads in wintertime. It isn't good for any piece of metal moving out there.. Poorly rust protected cars begin to get rust in less than 10 years.
The 2008-2011 US Focus is based on Mk1 Focus running gear with a new body, as opposed to the Mk2 and newer European ones that were full ground up redesigns... :)
There's a few out there, but yeah they are hard to find. I've found about 5-10 of them in looking for trucks in the past year.
Better luck to find a 6.0 with the ZF6, but I'd rather not have to put in headstuds just to make it last. Too much work for me :yepp:
It's too bad Ford and GM abandoned manual transmissions in their heavy duty trucks. The Cummins in the Dodges is a little down on power at this point, so it's not really worth buying.
96' BMW E36 328i Coupe, cosmos black. I love the 80-90's styling far more interesting than any "modern" car :p:
Trying to find a nice diesel truck for winter, a raised Toyota hilux with some nice wheels would be spot on.
They say the intercooler won't fit with the winch, so they'll never do a Power Wagon with a Cummins. Doesn't mean you can't build one though :yepp:
Now I'm wondering if I should spend the thousands of $$ upgrading my truck or just buying something else in about 2 years and upgrading it...
Thanks!
Unfortunately I can't help you out with info on Opel. They along with Renault, Fiat, Peugeau, Seat, Skoda, and a few others are not imported to the United States. I find it kind of ironic that our Government spent decades blocking importation of many European brands due to their compact size and presumed lack of safety.... and now they're promoting our car companies (the Government owned ones) to move towards what you Europeans have been doing for decades.
Personally, we should have buried General Motors when they went bankrupt and let the free market (and responsible corporate managers) dictate which cars win and lose. And since Europe has been making smaller, sporty, and fuel efficient cars for so long... I'm sure they're lightyears ahead of anything these old farts in Detroit will come up with anytime soon.
I just gave a look at a few European car websites and I kind of like the little Clio Renault Gordini or Sport GT... probably two very fun cars on a tight road course. I recall Citroen and Peugeot have made some good performing hatch-backs over the years. The current lineups look pretty ugly though.
Not long ago in a trip to Mexico I saw countless VW's on the roads which are not U.S. legal such as the Polo GTI Cup. A sweet little hatch (with 180bhp).

Wow. And I had always thought it was Audi who came first, back in 1909. Vauxhall began making cars (horseless carriages) back in 1903 in England. Opel began a couple years later, but still before Audi.Quote:
Opel = Vauxhall. Oldest german car manufacturer I believe. Good reliable stuff.
never heard of Vistra. If its an MPV, it could be a Sintra, which they took off the market because it wasn't very safe.
Maybe se means a Opel Astra? Astra's are good.
Oh... and if I"m not mistaken, Vauxhall is from England (and owned by General Motors since the mid 1920's.
Took some pictures our 3 BMW's yesterday. The 3 series needs to get some bodywork done so it is being neglected for now. The X6 was washed last week and coated with Rejex, and the X5 was washed yesterday and coated with AutoGlym HD Wax. I mainly drive the X5 and love all aspects of it except for the automatic transmission. If it had the 5-speed manual, I would be grinning every time I step out of it. It will be going in for service next week for an unknown suspension clunk, so if shocks are diagnosed as a problem, I will try and get a coilover kit instead of just replacing the stock shocks.

I just bought new white walls so it'll go faster...
In US they used to know how to ruin cars with horrible bumpers :D even many Euro and Jap models' US versions have been ruined. Why? Isn't it nicer to have smaller ones that fit with the rest of the car?!?
Couldn't resist buying myself another 205 GTI yesterday. Needs a "little" polishing, but after that it'll hopefully not have three-four shades of red.

I'm seeing a lot of people posting up their license plates... probably not the best idea... >.>
Lol
Some artistic touch, mad Paint Shop Pro skills :D
http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2.../sxBNW1024.jpg
Yea, but the main concern would be the one i wrote a few messages up. Some pro can catch here your plate, see what's installed from your boast messages and go get them. At least in Finland you can send the reg plate by sms and you get all the needed information to go to that car's owners house..
It used to be that way here too. That is until the 1970s, stalkers begun recording the license plate numbers of pretty girls and then finding out where they live from the DMV. It didnt turn out so good for some of those women so they made the information a lot harder to get...:p:
Picked this up a week ago.

Yes, still have the Camaro... but it is for sale. Need to sell it to help pay for this truck.
Has the 4.2L straight 6. Enough engine for what I need. 270HP and 275TQ if I remember correctly.
It needs a few things taken care of (typical tune-up, spare tire winch fixed, a little rust on the edges of the doors, and a squeaky window lol) but its in pretty good shape overall. Previous guy had it 7 years, and traded it for another, newer one of the same model, so I figure he can't have had any real issues with it.
My father has a GMC Envoy, basically the same thing as the Trailblazer but with a better interior. Engine is awesome, plenty of low end torque but loves the high revs. Only major let down IMO is the 4 speed automatic behind it. Its gear ratios are just not suited at all for the 4200.
Also, 02 is 270HP, 03 is 275, 06+ had 291HP.

New wheels!
I didn't know the TBs came with monster i6s. That's pretty cool. I love those trucks.
I'm planning on a Transgo SK-4L60E shift kit to firm a few things up, particularly with the torque converter lock. These trucks are a little lazy and soft locking it and keeping it locked. I have that kit in my Camaro (same transmission, kind of funny actually) and it made a troublesome TCC lock become very quick and precise, and got an mpg increase from it too. But the tune will also be needed on the trailblazer I think because of the "comfy" stock tuning it has for the trans compared to the little more "aggressive" stock tuning on the Camaro. But we'll see.
The torque management with the electronic throttle on the TB/Envoy is horrible. Even if you mash the pedal to the floor, it will only open the throttle blade about 40% until the engine is over 4000 RPM. Mainly to protect the transmission.
However with the shift kit you could probably have PCMForless do a near full TQ management delete without hurting reliability, especially if you have them firm up the shifts in software too.
Stock these things won't/will barely even chirp the tires if you punch it off the line. People say after the torque management delete they will happily roast the tires off the line without a problem

167k right now.
Runnin' strong.
Just had new front/rear struts and mounts put on and a new tailoring arm
As long as you can keep the 3800 from sucking in its intake manifold gasket. Have yet to see one not do it in its lifetime.
You can't prevent it only watch for it. First sign is a loss of coolant as it will leak into the area between the bottom of the intake manifold and the top of the block. I've heard it is related to the intake manifold being made from plastic instead of being a casting like they used to use on other motors. I have five friends with different GM cars that all use the 3800 motor which have had the problem. On one Buick Park Avenue, one Buick Century and two Pontiac Grand Prix's and one Olds Intrique. The newest one is an 06 Grand Prix. Dealers take you to the cleaners to repair it but if you have any michanical skills its not that hard of job to do yourself. Except for this problem the 3800 is a great running motor, I've seen them run well past the 200,000 mile mark. I wouldn't be scared to buy one myself, non of the five have ever needed a third gasket installed.
Your Camaro does not use the 3800 Series II motor. The 3800 Series II is strickly a transvers mounted front wheel drive motor. You are mixing up the Chevy 3.8L motors which was used in the Camaro with the 3800 Buick motors which were used in many different GM products.
Uh, yes it does. It is the 3800 Series 2, stamped right on the intake. The Series 2 was made for both transverse mounted FWD cars and the RWD V6 fbody. It has a different intake manifold, and the accessories are mounted differently, but the engine itself is the same.
I've had the Camaro for 3 years, and done a lot of work of my own on it. I know what engine my car has ;)
I can confirm the v6 Camaro uses the 3800 series 2.. got one sitting in the garage right now.
What year Camaro? The L36 motor was a varient of the 3800 Series II. Aluminum intake 3800's were Series III motors. Currently the 3800 series motor is no longer in production. Plant 36 has been closed a little over 2 years now.
It is a 98, but all 96-2002 V6 Camaros used the 3800 series II. Yes, it is the L36. I know the 3800 isn't being made anymore.
Hello, this is my very first post here :) i was very excited when i got an e-mail that my account has been activated.

1930 Model A 5-window tudor cloth top, been in a garage since '82, just gave it a bath for the first time a couple weeks ago
figured you'd chime in :)
basically i've had to fix something on the sable every 2-3weeks since i started school again, and everything i've had to fix so far is frightening while having to drive an hour home (gas tank strap broke w/13Gal in the tank, just replaced a front tire friday because a belt broke so the steel was poking through and the tread partly ripped off, and before the tank strap the brake lines went so i had no braking power except when the pedal was 1/2" from the floor). but the car is practically new again at this point haha
the sable is a damn nice car though, full digital tach and readouts, calculates miles remaining in your gas tank, gives you a warning if you have a headlight out, power seats w/ lumbar, keypad entry (LOVE the keypad), single stage metallic paint, outside temp sensor, and has nice torque too (but you have to consider it's heeaaavy)
I know what you mean, I have the same engine in my equally heavy Thunderbird (in my sig). I like the way the 3.8L sounds under full throttle. :)
All those options are awesome, I wish I had them on my old 'bird.
What you understand about cars is something that most people dont. If you replace everything that breaks on the car around 200,000 miles (usually when it breaks), the car is basically new and can go another 200,000 miles, rather than "oh well, the alternators broken, time for the junkyard..." Ive done the same thing with my 1989 F-150 Lariat 4x4 (around 180,000 miles) and am starting to do it with my 1989 Thunderbird (122,125 miles). Its not like vehicles have an expiration date, you treat them well they will last you a lifetime. I hate how people believe that cars are automatically no good anymore if they are 5 or 10 years old... :shakes:
That Sable is in good shape too, especially for living in a rust area.
yeah, i mean it still may be destined for the junkyard soon, because the only things we havn't replaced would be the automatic tranny and motor lol
the transmission is what worries me (and the motor mounts...)
yeah its funny seeing cars newer than mine with rust all around the fenders or the clearcoat flaking off, even all the other '90s sables around town are rusted a lot, just having a garage, washing and waxing makes all the difference in the world
and, that Thunderbird's just a baby! less than 125k haha
Haha. I sure hope a car in that shape can steer clear of the junkyard. I replaced the motor mounts on my Thunderbird and they were straight forward and the mounts were only $38/ea from Napa, instead of $300/ea from Ford. Yours might be different since your car is front wheel drive. The transmissions are definitely a weak point on our cars, I'm planning a 5 speed swap when mine goes out. You probably have less options since its front wheel drive. Just keep everything maintained and your car will last a long time. :)
Im seeing fewer and fewer Thunderbirds like mine on the road, and less 80-96 trucks too. The local junkyards are getting full of them, its pretty sad. :(
My Thunderbird had 118,000 when I bought it last year, the original owner was an old lady who bought it new and drove it until 2008 when she died. The car was given to her daughter and sat in her driveway for like a year, when I saw it and bought it for $750. :D
Thats sick. :D
What is it? Haha...
Ive posted this vehicle before, but not this picture. :)

It's a Ford Racing Puma, number 190 of 500, Around 350 Left. Very Unique and very Rare.
Nope and Nope, it's 10 years old and is based on the MK4/5 Ford Fiesta.
The Cougar is based on the Mondeo.
