With full bank perhaps you gonna try a "little" boost of vcore on Cpu if not try another cpu to search an strong IMC
yeah. this will be the 4th 3770k. I'm using the asus maximus V extreme
What was the max ram speed this last chip would handle and what volume, they seem to vary a lot in IMC capacity. My current Ivy will not do anything over about 2630 and requires a :banana::banana::banana: ton of juice just to hold 5G stable. A new chip should be here today as the search continues.
with 2 dimms i can do 5 ghz 1400, with full bank only 1200 ( stable ) if depend absolut of IMC my batch is 3226B987
My current chip is a costa 3227C148 that will do 2600 full bank but not a touch more, IHS removed and using ultra on the die and MX4 on the IHS/water block. Temps are crazy low but this is my torture rack system with dual remote water loops. Tonight I should be testing yet another Ivy.
If i use 4.0 Ghz clock i can do 1400 full bank so look what's happen if you low cpu clock
No doubt it's less stressful on the chip to maintain stability while managing the ram control at a lower speed. You can eat a lot of chips before your hands get greasy finding that killa chip.:D
Couldn't a single chip from any lot be golden and the rest turds? I think Gold can be found in just about any lot and getting a good over clocking chips is really just luck of finding that particular chip of the lot. I think discrediting an entire batch based on the week of the year isn't a good way to go for finding golden chips.
The chip that I got today was supposed to be a fresh batch from Intel but after reading an explanation on batch numbers it appears my chip was made in the last week of June 2012 in Costa Rica.
Batch 3226C840 I7-3770k
I'm thinking about not even opening it and returning it for the newest batch that was supposed to be shipped to MC today. The Tustin, Orange County MicroCenter WEB site shows that there are no 3770ks in stock. Looks like my local MC is selling old batches right now. I really wanted a new batch from week 45 (1st week of November).
My other theory for picking up a June chip is that Intel has a crap load of chips sitting in storage waiting to be shipped out to vendors.
I also picked up a new i5-3570k which is an even older batch 3222B248.
I just got in another one last night which is a 3226B912. I will test it asap.
I just got one of 3770k Malay L230B645, anyone have got same batch?
btw where you can find CPU's number in the wafer?
Edit: nvm, found it A1904

You have a bad one....9 pieces of 3570K yielded in best one doing 4.5 prime with 1.22...After 6 pieces of 3770K best one did 4.5 ghz with 1.16....
