but are you sure cire temp shows you the correct multiplier? I use at least 3 or four programs to ceck it.....Like cpu-tweaker cpu-z v1.47 and real temp together :)

i installed the new bios on my WS Revolution yesterday and can confirm that the 22x multiplier IS available for my i920.
however,
- i am not sure i can enable it manually
- it is only available when the C-State option is Enabled
- i have only tried C-state package limit set to Auto
- when running single threaded apps like superPi, the mult will shoot to 22x and stay
- when running LinX, it will jump to 22x very briefly and throttle back to 21x for the duration
last night i ran 50 iterations of LinX and 10 hrs of Prime95 small FFT @

By the way, i never thought to adjust the power management settings in Windows 7. I had my min and max and 100% while finding these results. The throttle back occurred with my min CPU state at 100%. that said, i just changed it to 25% and at idle my CPU will drop WAY down to like a 4x or 6x multiplier, although it seems to spend most of the time at 12x while at idle.
not trying to prove anyone wrong or anything like that. just contributing my point of reference to the community. all of this stuff helps the group so just take it for what it's worth. :up:
Does anyone have a couple of spare SSD's and this motherboard to try them out on the Marvell SAS controller?
It would be good to know if this controller can handle the throughput for 2 in Raid 0. Afterall, one can never have enough disk drive ports.
Mmm, that's kinda weird ain't it?!? I must admit that I didn't tried the specific settings 003 described. After installing the new bios I just looked if the 21x multi was implemented and after confirmation I played a bit with it (e.g. 21 x 200). This worked fine during prime and HT disabled. I never use LinX so I think my previous comment is not very relevent then.

It does seem to be some sort of safety since in my case it only throttles at higher vcore and and even then it only does a half multiplier and then goes back up to 21 and back down to 20.5, kinda like its just approaching the throttling threshold.
I'm wondering if its a combination of vcore and temp that decides since my high temp was fluctuating between 76-78C. Considering during the high temp around 78C it would drop back to 20.5 until the temp dropped to around 76C then back up to the 21 and so forth, it was a steady change back and forth.
For me its really not an issue since at my normal vcore this doesn't occur even with Linx running.
does anyone know if all of the internal SATA ports namely ports 5 and 6 run on the main bus or are they diverted to different bus thus causing the reduced performance with SATA 2 cables? I having some issues connnecting UV SATA 2 cables with clips not seeding correctly so I may have to use ports 5 and 6.

Hey gents. I've been stable at my current settings with the 0905 BIOS and I was just wondering which of the newer ones is the best to take advantage of the 21x multiplier? I've been stuck at 4.0Ghz because my 920 HATES the 20x and my RAM limits me to 211x19. 200x21 would be great if I can swing it. Any input would be great appreciated. :up:
Sorry kinda noob question and maybe wrong thread to ask it..but I just want to know If i went thru one whole loop on prime95 and its been 9+ hrs does this mean my system is stable?
I would rather like a CPU speed of 4Ghz and some OC'ed RAM at 1688Mhz instead of 200Mhz extra CPU speed and standard RAM speed. Those extra 200Mhz CPU speed doens't really contribute much more to the overall speed in my opinion. Moreover there's a great possibility that those extra 200Mhz will be disproportional to the extra voltage you will need. However I would recommend you the latest bios (version 1303) for flashing your bios.

If your OC is Prime95 stable for 9 hours on blend modus you may consider it stable. However it's still a subjective issue because Prime95 doesn't stress your system to the fullest. In general it does stress your comp. more then during every day use (gaming, decoding, encoding, etc.). But there are still people who want to be sure that there system is stable under whatever condition and use LinX as a stress benching program. It will stress your comp. considerably more than Prime95 and therefore the conclusion will be more reliable. I only use Prime95 as a stress benching program because it will fullfill my needs (gaming most of the time).

If I where guessing I would say there was possibly a crash and a restore without a current backup.
If anyone has the info on cross flashing the V2 to a V1 BIOS would they please post it back up or send it to me. I have the files I just cannot remember the flash commands and I didn't bookmark the link on XS describing how to do it.

let me sum it up how to do it.
All it takes is a bootable DOS floppy or CD, and an engineering release of AFUDOS. And a V1 BIOS certainly.
I used the 2.36 ES flasher that's linked to at the Maximus to Rampage flashing thread:

Syntax:
AFUDOS /ifilename.rom /pbnc /n
Make sure to not understand the /i as part of the filename...it is the command parameter, and the filename follows without space.
I used the V1 1403 BIOS, but any other should do.
Makes me wonder who's got the balls to try flashing the Rampage 2 extreme BIOS on the V2, but beware, the board has a different layout! The chances are lower than with the V1 BIOS on the V2.

Could someone please explain what C-State Auto and the C1E options int he bios do, also do these affect performance?
raptord had a 100 Mhz higher overclock, but he was at 4.5 GHz and watercooling, I believe. Hence he couldn't notice what I found:
The fan control does not work with my Zalman CNPS 9900. It comes with a four wire fan connector and the rotation speed is always full. To me that's not a problem, because it seriously bugged me to have the sound of the fan changing all the time, I am rather using a Zalman Fanmate from my previous cooler now.
Other than that, no improvements on air cooling. By 920 bombs out with a bluescreen when going under full load at 4 GHz, and 3.8 GHz is rocksteady at 1.25Vcore.
Setting 21 as multi works fine, and I had my CPU peaking to 22x when running SuperPI on core 0 or 1.
Sorry, guys. I can't remember exactly what I has written previously. I have to correct myself if I had said that my system was water-cooled. The i7 920 I am running is actually cooled by NH-U12P. The 100Mhz more on V1 BIOS is like this: with HT on I can do 4.4G (not prime stable), only can stress a little bit with SuperPi 32M; while with V2 0302 BIOS I can only do 4.3G with HT on. With HT off, both BIOS will do 4.5g (same Vcore at 1.41~1.42v). Hope this will clarify the information concerning oc result of V1 BIOS on V2.

me all confused since this is new hardware compare to a P45 Board and on a x58 i heard you can blow your CPU -if you don't know what your doing.,like to get my system stable at least 3.6ghz or so ,can anyone list there bios settings,i would'nt know where to begin
