Hotfix + cat 7.10 works great in crysis (crossfire and Windows XP ) , only dont work with Vista (only in Crysis) , with XP no prblems at all in every games
of coruse , you have to instal the Hotfix + catalyst driver , not only the hotfix
Thanks for the info Mascaras, all i have to do is install the Catalyst Driver THEN the Hotfix, or the other way around, or combine them before installing? please explain, thank you.
the hot fix is a driver, so you just install the hotfix and it installs the driver

There's a driver that was released after this Hotfix, which worked better for most games than that one, but doesn't have the Crysis Hotfix, that's the problem.
The newer driver's version is 7.11, which fixes CF problems and other bugs, so i can only install either, but need the fixes in both of them!
This is with the ATI.HD3870.512.071102 bios from TechPowerUp? Bios version is now 010.071.000.000. I flashed both cards with this bios and they both booted up at default settings 777MHz and 1126MHz. Also, 3Dm06 crashes at Firefly Forest when past 860 on the core. I'm currently running 860/1276 with ccc overdrive.
Can you give me a link to the proper bios or should I be using the HD3870_PLLVCO_v010.071.zip?
Ok guys, same problem like most of you guys here.
HIS HD3870
I get up to 860mhz on the Core easy to 2600 on the memory i haven't tried more yet.
I did flash the new "fixed" bios but it still doesn't seem to go any higher. I assume like most of you its a Voltage Problem. Is there any tool what i can use to raise the Voltage or is there an up todate Bios Editor where i can do this with ?
I really want to make sure its worth it before I throw some watercooling on this baby.
I think 7.11 its older than Hotfix (was released after hotfix but the release notes date are older)
I have the Cat 7.10 from CD and then i installed the Hotfix
after flash the clocks are the same (777/1125) the only difference is that you can go higher than 860mhz
the new bios is the one on first post of thread ( HD3870_PLLVCO_v010.071.zip )
Ok i used winflash 2.0.0.2 http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...h_2.0.0.2.html
and bios http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/1...12.071102.html.
I had the lockup at 862MHz on core.
With this bios i do not have this anymore but every test i did over 862 MHz just freezes 3d.
Maybe is temperature issue maybe not. I will have further tests on it.
I cannot see any difference in fan i think it works the same way.
855/1321 is stable enough for me with stock HSF
i flashed my Two HD3870 10 minuts ago
original bios with 865mhz rivatuner >> freeze system
new bios i test with 885mhz >> no problem (didnt try more)
which bios are you guys using? i've only tried the techpowerup bios and not the one in the OP of this thread. i'll try that one in the morning, right now sleep. wish me luck :).
I think they are the same.
Just post any differences for the two bioses you mentioned if any.
GeCube OC bios for 3870 is now posted........ who's gonna try it first? :)

The folks on Techpowerup state the bios has less (1.25v) than the standard 1.3 of the normal bios. Don't know how accurate that is. In any case I don't know if this is a more mature bios than the Ref bios with the overclock limit which is why I posted it.
It gave me a subsystems ID mismatch when I tried to load it using winflash.
same here..
Looks like the size is only 61kb on the GeCube Bios.
What i really could need is a bios editor, i m sadly see the last Version of RaBit is older then old on the other hand looks like NiBiTor the NV Bios Editor brings out new Versions when ever a new Card hits the market.
I don't mind the performance of the HD3870 what really bugs me is that we can't test the limits. I don't believe that 860 is the highest or 900 for that matter. I would like to fool around with the card but been limited since there is no resources out.
ATi Tool is behind and there is no telling if there ever will be a Version which works fine with this Card and can actually adjust the Voltage and RaBit is as dead as it can be. In the end i really wonder if i wasn't better off getting a NVidia Card at least they have resources to work on the card....
Well we already know that these cards can do 1200Mhz on the core based on what Shamino has done. Being a person who enjoyed the flexibility of the X1900 series cards, I'm frustrated that we don't have the same voltage control yet. I'm hoping one of these new Turbo/OC cards will have a different bios with a little more voltage.

Took the ram sinks off. didn't help clocking but it seems a bit more stable. 900 core is no go. 1325 mem is no go. Tried to get a bit higher a score with more CPU speed but the cards seemed to throttle, only 68k.
LOD +9
On a side note, my maximus formula needs to run PL 10 to do 500 fsb
"Crysis" will run fine in Vista with Crossfire if you use the DX 9 path, just select it from the drop down menu in the games folder after you click the icon. On the DX 10 path it simply doesn't work. Then again you don't need the DX-10 path unless you want to select very high settings. Most folks can't deal with too many of those selected beyond 1280x or 1440x. I find Texture, Object, Shader, and Water on high, with the rest on medium looks good and plays well. I made a large post here showing HD 3850 Crossfire working in "Crysis" with Vista x64.
