You will be glad you ordered it. Keep us posted how it works out, though.

Anyone have tried Beta Bios 1403 with Xeon w3540 Sub-sero ? If possible please i need some feedback of any kind of bugs with this Beta Bios , i have Xeon w3540 waiting for me ready to bench all weekend on LN2 , but i would like to hear some feedbeck before i flash.
Thanks in advanced.

Hi everyone ! Excuse me, please, if this question has already been asked but does anybody know how to turn off the onboard buttons (Start, reset...) backlight when the system is in soft-off mode ?
I have a semi weird issue that I noticed. I have a a usb 2.0 card reader as well as the case usb ports and while using it with my corsair 8g thumb drive I get at most 9mb to 12mb transfer speed. On my dad's simple gateway laptop the transfer speeds are up to 30mb to 40mb highest I've seen. So what is up with this?
920 C0 Rock stable on my R2E at 4100 @ 216X19.

I am testing now your same memories and I confirm that it is very hard to keep 2000 MHz stable.
On Win 7 x64 I have to raise till 1,45 V the Vtt to finish boot and 1,5 V is not enough to have a rock stable system,
I wonder if you found some trick meanwhile to reach 2000 MHz and not using so high Vtt that Intel says is a little dangerous for 24/7 use.
Hello everyone:)
I'm going to upgrade mi rig in a couple of weeks and it will sure consists of Rampage 2 extreme...I'm glad that i found out such a nice forum topic about this board and i hope that you will be able to help me if i will have any issues or i will be able to help you with your issues:))
I'm currently on E8600 @ 4.35Ghz GB EX38DS4 and single 280GTX
... and my upgrade will be:
Core i7 975 Extreme Edition
Rampage 2 Extreme
Mushkin REDLINE 6 x 2GB 1600Mhz
two Asus 285 GTX TOP in SLI
Enermax Revolution+ 1250W
Creative x-fi Titanium fatality Pro
one 300gb velociraptor for OS + games and one 1TB WD for storage
This is my third rig and i hope that each component will run flawlessly on it... so far my both previous rigs had gigabyte board.... this is my first Asus:)
Anyways.... i have one issue. Ive read several forum topics that the first black audio slot will not fit Titanium card unless i bend down that passive or even rip it off....do you guys have Titanium card in that slot and how did you solve it? I don't want to rip it off cos warranty may void:(
Also ... will the newest bios recognize 975EE?
PS: sry for my bad English :))
If you don't want to mess with the heatsink you can stick the X-Fi Titanium in the last slot instead.
Some infomation and settings

Now, the PCI-E x1 sound card can go to any PCI-E slots (including PCI-E x16 and x4), correct?
i have the det dram issue over 185mhz bclock how can resolve this problem?
i have a 920 D0, 6gb dominator 1600mhz cas 8 1,65v at liquid there is anyone that can I help me?
i don't know what to do
sorry for my poor english
well, could you share your settings? D0 or C0/C1 stepping?
i'm having a hard time going to 4GHz even though i'm giving it 1.4v vcore, it just keep failing intel burn test and prime95.
my other setting
QPI auto (1.35v via PC Probe)
PLL auto (1.81v via PC Probe)
VDIMM 1.65v
HT on, turbo on
right now i'm using 1.2625v vcore BIOS for 3.8GHz and it's stable.
What is the main difference between this R2E and P6T Deluxe V2? is it worth the upgrade?
Anyone else on this 1403 bios ? I seem to be able to run lower volts on the CPU then before to keep her stable... till now I needed 1.28ish set in the bios. It's still priming at 1.275 ( I urgently need back my DMM to verify the correct volts ) Maybe this bios overvolts even more than the older generation...
Anyone an idea or can anyone verify with his DMM...
Maybe that's it, I started to use this board again and I was coming from 11series bios... I needed 1.28ish Vcore set then to get prime stability, anything lower would have freezed in minutes. Now with 1403 I can run sub 1.27ish volts. Really puzzled...
Thx for the input, much appreciated
hi guys, i just moved to Windows 7 RC1 x64..the Xi-Fi Drivers for windows vista x64 keep giving me an error saying that it cannot detect the necessary hardware when i click on the audio console...4
any idea what might be the problem? i have all the latest drivers installed. thanks in advance (:
Where are you guys getting the 1403 bios from? I only see 1306 on the website.
not sure ever since i changed CPU to D0 and updated BIOS from 0903 to 1306
System POST with MASSIVE Lag! updated to 1403 beta and still the same...i have to wait ages for the system to POST...Any advice?
thanks in advance
Oh right :) lol.
Thanks BabyFace, Yeah i did notice that the splash screen takes longer to load and it became bad to worst after a few weeks the splash screen is taking longer and longer, i have gone back to 1206 and seems to be some improvement in terms of waiting time...
Thanks for the recommendation! Enermax arrived yesterday and I'm loving it, or actually my GTX 280 is. Starts from a cold boot every time. No more restarting/blank screens... now only the time will tell how long it will last - i do have high hopes though :) And now that I'm sure it was the PSU that failed i can get a replacement for future use.. and perhaps a D0 which is like an itch lately :D
Where's my share? HHehee...glad it works great for ya. It'll last a long time, but Enermax doesn't provide lifetime warranty on their PSUs, which is one of the reasons why I went with Prudent Way instead. They provide lifetime warranty on their PSUs, which is the first.
I using everest to read my NB/SB temps, it is reporting 48/46c my ambient temp is around 28c.
I did replace the ASUS TIM with some OCZ freeze and Sekisui tape.
I wondered what everyone else is getting with theirs?
Thanks
pardon me but what is TIM ?:)
I installed 1403 to get my 6x2 2000 MHz 8-8-8-24 Dominator Gt to run @ XMP speed @ 4000GHz. Board now posts @ XMP but only reports eratic capacity in bios "5Gb 6Gb 8Gb 10Gb" & so on depending on the amount of QPI. That & no resume from S3.
I went back to 1306, set mem to 1866 MHz 8-8-8-24 2N, all 12 Gb reporting. I cant run mem @ 2000 MHz but @ least I don't have all the other issues. If someone knows something to help, feel free to chime in.
i7 965, R ll E, Corsair 6x2 2000 MHz 8-8-8-24 Dominator Gt, Koolance N1300W ATX Watercooled PSU.
A question for Rampage II Extreme users -
I have been trying to decide on what motherboard to use with my new i7 build and after seeing the hit or miss issues with the EVGA Classified, I’m back to considering the Rampage II Extreme.
My only issue is that I wanted to stick an X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty sound card in the first PCI-E slot but from looking at pictures of the board it seems that it will be blocked by the heat sink on the X58 chip.
Has anyone here replaced the heat sink with a smaller after market solution? Does anyone have any recommendations?
It will not fit but it's possible to bend that heatsink with a screwdriver and then it will fit. My friend has it just like that and it works:) I'll do the same as soon as i get my RIIE and then i will sure post some pics but it's gonna be probably next week sometimes. I will not run trisli but i might get 3rd card for physx so i need to fit that sound card in the first black slot.
Thanks for the responses.
Instead of having to bend the fins on the heat sink I would have thought that at least one of these heat sinks would fit the Rampage II Extreme.

Papagaj,
Yes, its the revolution 80+
Without a doubt, You'll love it too.
btw if the soundcard is put into PCI-E 3rd white slot and both blue slots are occupied with VGA card.... will the blue slots use all 16 lines? 1st VGA 16 lanes and 2nd VGA 16 lanes? I think ive read somewhere that the blue slots are 2 x 16x lanes only if the rest of the PCIe slots are not occupied.
thx for answer
On auto settings in that configuration the slots should be x16 x16 x1. Alternatively, in the BIOS you can change it manually to X16 x8 x8.
yes. i replace the asus heatsink
http://pics.mwirths.de/pics/thumb/RIIE_NB_01.JPG
my soundcard works fine :D
here i germany you can buy this cooler
http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a324649.html
didn't think of the tower heatsinks, silly oversight... will a physx card (8800gt) be bottlenecked a lot by pci-e x1? I would rather bottleneck a physx card that I'll use mainly for mirrors edge and vantage, than my 4870x2.
Thanks a lot for the info.
The only thing is what model/make is that heat sink and how does it fasten to the X58 chip?
Is the existing screw mount for the stock X58 heat sink on the RE II universal? In other words would any of these heat sinks that use a screw mount be a direct replacement?
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ndex&cPath=197
Only in Germany? Where's justice in this? HEhehe
Anyone water cool the north south bridge with sometihng like the koolance block. Is there a point apart from looking cool Or just change the TIM. I know some one was Changing the Tim on the passive coolers. But can't find the results.
i have the full koolance kit, the loop shares a 8800GTX running physics and the mofsets are also on it, average temps 40 degrees and never climbs above 45 for the nb/sb when the room temps 27 degrees and the systems gaming.
You dont have a cpu block in that loop right. Would u say its worth getting the block for NB SB only or dosent bring anything to overclocking. If i do get it it will be in a loop with a cpu block too.
I am seriously considering grabbing an EK block for my board.
I got a SB overtemp warning the other night, ive cured this by sticking an 80mm fan on the IOH and a 120mm near the SB, this however is not ideal.
My ambients were only around 22c, so if i do this ill just need some mosfet coolers to finish it off, some enzotechs look be ideal so i might try those.
What program did use to measure the temps?
I was using Everest and BIOS, both were mid 40s. Over 50c when benching 1,35v(ish) IOH.
You are not considering temperatures between 40 and 50 as overheating don't you? Cos I think thats pretty normal....What sent you that SB overheating warning? Speedfan or what?
Also this pic was taken from one review:
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/7590/48650711.jpg
no i have my gtx280 and the CPU running on a pa120.3, i wont add any more to the loop due to the koolance block being the 350 and requiring a fast flow to work at its best.
so long as you use a block thats not rated for high flow systems you will be fine.
it keeps the temps low but you will need the mofset blocks as well.
also got the CPU PLL block in the loop to be on the safe side :)
Ok thanks for the help. I'am considering getting the Ek supreme LT block. The koolance looks good but it said it does best alone or as u said high flow. Any Chance u know how well a EK Block will work with Black ice GTX 360 Rad and Swiftech MCP655 Pump. Iam looking for now to just cool down my i7 only. 4GHZ on air with true 120 lapped with washer i get.
Max 80(Linx not prime temp)
Idle 39
Room temp is like 25-26 if i put ac on drop 5 degress or so.
Any ideas what i might get on water?
no idea
You might get 60-65 in Linx but 80 si still pretty safe. I would say it's the last "ok value". Don't forget that with stock intel cooler you can get all the way up to 75-80. That CPU is built tu handle such a temperature.... as far as you ar not putting more than 1.4V into it on air.
What V-core you have mate?
No that was a weird one, i was running LinX and when i restarted the PC to change a couple of settings when the BIOS gave the the SB overtemp warning.
When i was running LinX Everest reported NB at around 50c and SB was only 44c(ish) so i tohught this was odd.
If i have no fans anywhere near the NB/IOH sink it gets hot to the touch without even windows booted up.
Its not massive worry but i have the heat under control everywhere else so i will come up with sometihng for the board too.
Had a question about Vcore good u asked.
For my 4ghz oc i got.
1.34375(bios)
CPU-Z shows 1.336
HW monitor 1.34
Everest 1.35-1.4 happens when its in prime. The other 2 programs dont increase though. The LCD poster also shows identical to everest. I dont understand how it will increase if i set it in bios 1.34.
if you use a Digital voltmeter and check the readings you might see ya boards overvolts the Vcore once load goes up... CPU-Z doesn't respond at all and gives idle voltage on my OS... My board is also plagued by this phenomena
Well almost all boards are undervolting... in other words.... the reality is lower than is set in bios. So that's ok.
If you are getting different values of V-core when IDLE and BURN... that is cos LOADLINE CALIBRATION. I think it's better to enable it. But i'm not sure here.
80 degrees, 1.35 Vcore and 4Ghz on air.... I think you are ok m8
Well hopefully ill get Water cooling so ill lower the temps. Just trying to understand the whole barbs and compression sizes first.
has anything materialised regarding the new revision of this board? the b3 or v2 etc
That would suck them releasing a v2/b3 board after i just purchased one though.......
Good Day
I ordered up an MCW-NBMAX, i see if that cools it any better.
I have been running LinX HT on 1.375v 21x216 and i can see the clock frequency fluctuate in CPUz (4.53gz->4.3Ghz), C1E is off and speedstep is not where the manual says it should be, would you guys know what causes this?
I also have that CPU clock fluctuation (even under heavy load) and haven't figured out yet why  SpeedStep is shown in the BIOS only when the AI overclock tuner is set to AUTO
BTW: Are you running your RAMs at 1800MHz ? I'm asking 'cause I can't get my OCZ Reapers 1866 to run higher than approximately 1600-1700MHz When I set them at 1866 the mobo doesn't post (gets stuck on DET_DRAM)
Yes OCZ reaper 14440 C8s.:)
I am running them at 1734mhz C8/8/8/22 1.65 at the moment. Ill try tighter later.
Hi
have on info about the starting the Revision B-3 from REII ?
I have not seen anymore on the new revision yet.
Marvin,
Would you mind posting your voltage settings for 4.5Ghz please?
Thanks:)
Careful with that block. The spacing between it and the first PCI-E 16X slot is really tight. I couldn't get it to work with a 90 deg fitting so had to do some improvisation:
http://individual.utoronto.ca/bzhou/...2e_nbmax_a.jpg
Yes, thats nice. I am running higher than that @ 1.425vcore but i think it was more stable for me with 1.375v tbh.
I can run 20 passes LinX and OCCT for a couple of hours but 3Dmark06 crashes at anything over 4.2Ghz. Weird.
Thanks for the Link.
Thats some innovative work right there :D, i had hoped to try a couple of rotary 45s but i see i may need to be more creative.
I have a spare SLI pipe i think might fit in there if push comes to shove.
Of course that would not look at good as yours, funny how a forced work around can end up as a nice feature.
Did you find it did the business for the NB and SB?
Thanks for the pic, it is appreciated.:)
I can go 4,6Ghz with 1,476v
So your Problem is your x2
Lots of x58 boards have a problem witg x2 cards
with NV and Ati same problem
You need on the ioh min 1,25v with 2 x X2 to become it stable
Sorry for my english ^^
i hope you have no fan on the Bord ?
It is a very big Problem for Oc
No what I meant is the one on the board no fan should be connected as a problem when there oc
Then it creates the electricity supply by the Board no longer
The fan must be equipped with a fan controller to be
increases the IOH IOH and the PCI V because of your X2 CF
Thanks Marvin,
I will take the two motherboard fans off tomorrow if my NB block arrives.
I have increased some voltages to try to stabilise the x2 CF.
