is it worth tracking down a SE version if i'm thinking about getting water cooling? or is the non-SE with a good wc setup just as good?
Hi all!!!
I give 2.04V in the Bios and then (after the restart) I read 2.192V in the motherboard info in bios. Everest 4.20 shows also 2.19V; so ... I am searching for a photo of the vDimm measure points in this MoBo with no luck. Can anyone help ?
Another thing : Have anyone tried a kit of G.Skill 2x2GB 8000 PQ (5-5-5-15 @ 1000) in this mobo ? Is it a good combination ?
The board overvolts the dimms with about 0.1 everyone had these findings, same for CPU PLL wich is at least 1.6 ( even if you set 1.5)...
I've put the mobo back again in my watercooled P160 together with an E2140 ( in time of awaiting the QX, thx Nilos for that ) an eVGA 8800GTS 512 and the 4gig Gskill kit, it's OCCT'ing right now, 1.9 volt set for ram in the bios gives 1.98 in Asus probe and Everest ultimate... I don't run the ram OC'ed 24/7 but the same kit does 1066Mhz on 2.1 volts with 5-5-5-15 2T on the P5K Dlx
Edit : 30 min test completed screenie :

And my mysterious reboot issue is solved, after pulling the battery for the night, must have been a bad flash somehow... glad I found that out , was ready to wrap it up and send back for RMA...
FYI - I am especially looking for more water cooled Maximussss'es Loaded NB temps, that are using Aftermarket water blocks. If that sounds like you, load that puppy up and make an entry. ;)
The thread is located in the Water Cooled Section: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=162085
Here is our collection of LOADED NB temps reported my various members. I would like to see more aftermarket loaded NB temps hit the chart.
Please feel free to submit your data, and this chart will be updated. :)
We are looking for the hottest temp, your NB hit's, under a heavy load!
We are giving both the ROG stock cooling, and the Aftermarket blocks full credit, for being able to keep a NB cool at idle by default.
This log's purpose was to simply record how high our NB temps were able to climb, using our current cooling solutions.
Members reported loaded NB temp's in the 'Aftermarket Block Club':
ABC Member ----- NB volts -- NB Loaded ------------------- CPU --------------- NB Block
Creek Tha Gray ---- 1.61v ------ 20°C -- occt at 30min -- Q6600 @ 3.9GHz --------- EK S-MAX

Actually, I am only running 2xWD1600YDs in Raid0. I'm booting off another drive so they are giving maximum output. They both have 16mb caches and are rated as enterprise class drives even though I don't really see anything special about them. Bought them on newegg as oem drives for the same price as regular sata drives. I'm surprised myself.
Thanks, I appreciate it; I won't be ordering until the Q9450 hits the market, but I'm just trying to scout for potential problems.
So you haven't had any issues maintaining stability or booting for the first time with 1066 Ballistix? I'm just wondering if there are problems with certain Micron chips, or whether everything may have been fixed with the V2 revision and latest BIOSes.
Burst speed isn't really as important as average read speed.
any ideas why i cant set cpu ratio control to manual? it doesnt highlight to allow me to change but will let me enter numbers only but then i cant see the ratio cmos setting..
Im on 903 bios
also im suspicious of the cpu level up feature, could i cause damage to cpu or anything else but i leaving it on crazy setting which runs at 3.5ghz
You can't take 3 minutes of your time to post how well things are going with your board so far? :shakes: I could see if it didn't work at all but refusing to post your experience because you can't figure out how to get 550 FSB? Come on...post your experience so far about the Extreme Formula at new egg's customer review. Is it stable at your current OC, etc? You could add that you are not successful getting 550 FSB with your CPU as of yet ;)

4 x 320gb Normal hard drive (WD 16mb)
Anyone else getting prolonged boot times when using this board ? When I made the swap from the p5k deluxe to this I spend more time at the windows loading screen, before the windows loading bar would do about 3 revolutions with the p5k, now it does about 18  . Is there anyway to improve this ?
With E8500 it seems like Maximus is getting along realy strange. I was aiming for over 4Ghz frequency, but after seen how much is heating up, i kinda give up (for the moment). With the same cooling (Thermalright SI-128 + 3 x 120 arround it), E6850/3.6Ghz with 1.45V Full Load wouldn't go anything higher than 60c. Now, E8500/4.0Ghz with 1.3V Full Load goes almost instant at 70c. With 1.35V it goes at 80c.... and so on. Scary stuff. I'll try to upload my settings in here... as it was pretty hard to get it stable and not go over 70c.
must i install the soundcard riser thing if i just want to use the spdif toslink audio output?
Yeah I get the same, Windows XP x64 here and it also takes a long time to boot. I don't know why, whether it's a driver thing or isn't the BIOS helping (0907). One thing's for sure, my Abit IP35 PRO boots up a lot quicker and the hardware is almost identical save for the graphics card and only 1 Seagate 7200.10 320GB drive (non RAID).
did you guys with long boot times change HDD timeout to 0?
Windows takes time loading due to drivers...my install is 3 bars loading, but I've disabled alot of start-up items, otherwise it's very long. Until i disabled those items, it was 8.5 bars.
I think Maximus is showing some unreal temperatures... In CoreTemp and Everest i get 69-70 degrees full, while the radiator surface or "Ninja inside" readings barely shows 30 degrees celsius. Asus must be playing with temps (0907 right now... tried to get back to 0802 but couldn't).
