@ ViRuS2k, i am using the latest bios (ignore my sig...it haven't updated for a while)...But from my experience flashing bios like crazy, it doesn't really matters...this stick usually like weak (3/7ds) strength

The reason i don't use Tras 0 or 2 is it doesn't really increase performance or bandwith...

Yeah, currently I am running my HZ at 290 dual prime stable for 2 hrs. I have just ordered a opt 170 CCBBE 0610 DPMW, this chip can goes to 2.8 stock vcore and suppose could go higher but just not sure if my HZ can catch it up at 9/10 divider.

Can you post your memory settings? 290 is great

Bought a used F1 2GBHZ set I'm waiting for to arrive. Previous owner claims it was stable at 275MHz, I'm gonna try to push it to 280MHz tho. I'm interested do you all run the RAM at stock volts 2.6v? I know these RAM sticks seems to run best with low volts, has some1 else experienced different results tho, does 2.7v or even 2.5v work better?

Also what Tref value has been best stability wise with your sticks, 3684, 4072 ? And Dram drive strenght and Dram data drive strenght, these 3 are usually the most pain in the *ss settings to work out.

This shoud work very good on your sli-dr motherboard.

Can any1 comment on the vdimm as well? I'm interested to know what volts works best for you as I've seen some ppl use even 2.5v and some 2.7v, 2.6v seems to be most commonly used though. It's gonna feel weird not being able to pump up voltage to reach higher speeds like usual. lol

2.6v or 2.7 for higher speeds.;)

ok thx again. But I guess it varies from board to board. Seen some SLI-DR eXpert users that had to use 2.5v to gain stability... Perhaps it could be memory controller + cpu vcore related too for example. The higher vcore maybe 2.7v works better and near stock volts 2.5 - 2.6v maybe works best.

yes for sure y have dfi sli-dr Expert Venus and i use 2.6v but i will test 2.5v.

What vdimm and which BIOS are you 2 using to reach 285 and 290?

I'm currently using the latest tony's modded 704-2BT with my Gold VX, would 0406-BTA for example be better for this ram tho? (I've seen there's a bit "optimized" BIOSes for different RAM types, UTT and TCCD ones for example).

This is on my second set of 2GBHZ, the first set couldn't make 275.

Have you ever tried the latest 704-BTA bios? Just wanna make sure if there's some incompability issues with it with UCCC ram for example, I'd prefer starting with a good combination of settings and bios and stuff when I get the ram. :p

I think I'll start with 2.5v myself, find the max and if it's good i.e ~280MHz which is all I need I'll leave it at that and try 2.6v & 2.7v if it doesn't make it to 280MHz, previous owner ran it stable at 275MHz (dunno if he ever tried higher) so with slightly more losen timings or different settings maybe I'm able to reach it. Wouldn't suprise me if I got even worse results whit my luck tho, already got worse result out of my Opty 165 than previous user for example, which makes me think my SLI-DR board might be a crappy sample, with htt limit ~311. :(

Seems like 280MHz might be a difficult speed to reach if that's the max. I will however continue using this 80mm fan I use on my Gold VX and possibly TRC: 9 and TRFC 15 - 16, Read Preamble: 5.5ns and playing with volts and tref might work for 280MHz I hope. TRFC 14 is pretty tight, I have to use TRFC: 15 on my Gold VX so.

Which BIOS is that? Will also give 0406 and 702-3 bios a try if this 704-2BTA doesn't show promising results (wonder which works best for UCCC).

yeah right, so I am testing it overnight with memtest with fan blowing let see if it pass all even though it pass 32m PI but it pass dual prime 95 for 2 hrs.:confused:

Have this ram from yesterday, I tested with bios 07/03/06 in bios set 200mhz, Opteron 144 275*9, 3-4-4-8(tras) 1T, 2,6 V another Auto and bios setting,
32M - DONE :banana: all right
and from this morning I test with Memtest 1.55+, 1:1 275MHz - DDR 550 now 10 hours is all right :banana: :banana: :banana:
When will be 12hours than I stoped memtest - think that this ram will be allright

Is there any new version of the 704BTA? I used that BIOS before 406BTA was released, then I moved to it.

so far these sticks are looking good. 280MHz SPI 2MB passed at only 2.5v without tweaking. That's with DDS set to level7 and DDDS set to level3 which usually require higher volts. Will check 32MB now. :toast:

EDIT: They just won't become perfectly stable at 280MHz no matter settings and BIOS it seems. Performance is quite disappointing, in fact I might even keep these OCZ Gold VX, cuz even at 233MHz 2-2-2-5 these sticks win noticable in all benchmarks compared to 275 3-4-4-8. I didn't think timings did matter THIS much, if it offered nearly same performance I wouldn't have mind as it still would perform better in games that needs or will need 2GB for example but these sticks just feels slower and choppier, even in Battlefield 2 it wasn't such a great performance boost. Guess I prefer low latency ram, should get myself a OCZ DDR booster if I can find one to get some nice speeds out of this Gold VX kit instead as I don't go over 3.3v otherwise which is fine for up to 255 - 257MHz or so.

These sticks doesn't like tight timings. Even trying to set TRP to 3 at 255MHz resulted in freezes or reboots in almost anything. Setting TRCD to 3 resulted in almost immediate freeze in windows. TRAS at 6 or so wouldn't either work.

I'm sorry you found out this memory is garbage. I had the same experience as you and moved back to my old and good combination of UTT/CH5 + BH6 which can do 255 @ 2-2-2-5-2T and are faster than these HZs

Now I'm for a new try out on some new Ballistix (again... just see if they leave longer than 2 months... LOL)

Yea I really like these Gold VX UTT sticks and won't swap em out for a while it seems despite its 1GB capacity. Running 255MHz 2-2-2-5-1T @ 3.3v 24/7.. still going strong for about 1 year and 2 months now. :toast:

Hmm i also think i got garbage.. 255 is max i can go.. tried so many settings, can't even tighten the timings... i heard so much good stuff and just got +5mhz.. >.>
