Nice guide Mike I think this deserves to be stuck:)
Thanks for the guide! :) I'm sure it will help a lot of people.
Yep as i have just gotten the only Aopen Yonah bord in the Uk whoooo
My love ES with the best stepping out there on them will love it i hope.
It's going under my custom ss unit so she betta do me some 4+Ghz or i'm gonna be pissed
Don't which mobo also use W83627EHF sensor. :(Quote:

It's also crucial to do a 1M run at every 1MHz FSB increment once you get within 10MHz of the top end. Unfortunately, this renders SuperPI times a little worse than they optimally could be. :-/ You can sort of make them more around where they should be by performing the copy-waza tweak at each interval.
BIOS 1.03C does indeed not fully solve the cold booting issues. At about -40C or lower, BIOS reads the temp as "125 C/1 f." At this point, Windows will not boot properly. It'll try to load, but either restart or shutdown just before doing so. You either need the tCore mod to get around this, or raise temps sufficiently until in Windows. Then you can go ahead with the lowest (DI in my case) temperatures.
Registry tweaks that are typically used in AMDs do not apply here. They either do nothing or hurt times. Just use a fresh install of Win2k3 and do as few runs as possible once in Windows. Copy-waza, courtesy of Team Japan, ie copying a large ~1GB file from another drive or partition onto your benching partition helps for sure. However, as far as I can tell, only by about .03 sec or so, but the gain is there. Really the most effective way to shave times down is to tweak the secondary memory timings in I975 tweaker. However, as I frustratingly found, what works for one set of memory often does not work for another, even from the same IC or even manufacturer. tRFC is often overshot, should be reduced in almost all cases. When its too low it can cause instability very easily, so it takes some trial and error to find exactly what your particular modules like. I found that tRAS is best off at 4, no lower, no higher. Might be wrong about this, but that's the way it lined up for me.
For a shim I use Scotch tape, find it to be stickier than electrical tape. Either one's fine. I don't like IHSes as they invariably throw a thermal barrier in the way. Here's what my proc looks like, apologies for the excess Ceramique.
Hello,
I still don't understand my pb :( This morning, I tried one more time, here is my desktop. I can run 2 full 32MB SuperPI with no error (voltage set to 1.325 v in the BIOS). This is a 216 MHz FSB. When I set one more MHz on FSB, freeze under windows, no post under BIOS (reset to 200). Do you really think this is my CPU limit ? I can't beleve it.
Why is Core Temp showing VID : 0,950v? (and CPU-Z 2.640v lol). I'll take my vmeter to get sure.

I apologize, I posted in this thread too early, before I found this thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=95834, really sorry, I'm going to read it completly now.
See you,
Thomas
What is VTT volatge in new 1.03c bios ?

Thanks Gautam for the input- I should have time tonight to update everything
it's possibile to do sli on this motherboard? with which drivers? also with two 7900gtx2 (two core of 7900gtx in one pcb)
-Do not challenge Tyrou into a benchmarking competition
-Intel CAN touch this! :D
:lol2:
Vcore mod 1.65v , i use a switch to put the mod on or off it works
great on fly to.

really nice guide

If CPU core temps ( read by CPU internal probes ) are below ~ -40*C - Windows will crash at loadup - I suspect this is a driver that is supposed to protect the core. I am not sure if Bios R1.03C will help here - but I doubt it. I have seen this -40C with several different Intel type CPUs - in case of the Yonah at least we can boot...
with 103c bios, + DI cooling
still HAVE the problem.
I can boot into bios w/o any problem no matter how cold.
but....... windows will crash at the END of loadup if BIOS temp=125c (actually -33c read from the meter)
I can not initiate pi benching ( system crash more likely to the lack of volt. )
if temp lower than -45c.
During benching..... seems colder is better ( i've reached -59c loaded with DI )
If the temp is read off the thermistor or whatever in the socket, can't we just mod that somehow rather than do the tricky T_Core mod? Maybe read the ambient resistance on it and replace it with a fixed.
Kyosen's Tcore mod....I set vr @17.5K before instal and got 12.8K installed on mobo. Bios temp. @ 1C fixed.
Link doesn't work for 1.03b but google file and here you go
http://web.telia.com/~u97102906/ica13b1.zip
13b is on the Aopen FTP
ftp://ftp.aopen.com.tw/pub/bios/i975xa-ydg/ :)
and more stuff

ok, I can't use that bios to flash, any idea what I do wrong ?
no floppy, that's not an option :)
Tried with bootcd, get an error : root fat kernel go ?
worked with winflash :)
great :p
is there already an updated bios for Merom except 1.3B ?
WARNING!
I have killed already 2 pci-e cards on this board.
Thank God not expensive ones, x600xt and 6600gt
I have no idea why
sata raid on this board?, i dont htink it will eva be possible guys cus it uses the standard ICH7 not the ICH7R
*sigh* still stuck on 225FSB
The link in the first post for the 1.03b BIOS isn't working. I need the 1.03b b/c I need Merom support. Thanks!
