I'm surprised the pump can live with acetone. So what core temps can you run on GPU now? Have you tried upping core voltages and then adding the acetone?

Nah, my 1900 is a dud on the core, max 729 with water. Memory is really good though, 900+ with tweaking. Gonna wait till the next upgrade to play around some more...;)

Has to do with the materials it is made from. I think the pond pump I tried was made from abs but not for sure on that. Got it from Lowe's Hardware store.
Delrin is fine with acetone, and I think Norel and Nylon is too but not certain on that.
Acetone likes to eat a lot of stuff so I would double check pumps materials before running acetone through it...

I've used those cheap probes in chemistry. They are fairly accurate too. Only off by ~2c at temps of -5c actual.
If Acetone melts your plastic you can always try methanol too. It's available as automobile gas drying liquid (HEET). Be careful using HDPE Plastic under cold temps as it becomes very brittle and can crack easily if subject to impact. Delrin and nylon should be fine w/acetone but acetone will eventually eat through rubber o-rings. Acetone tends to soften even some of the toughest plastics after days of exposure. Methanol may be less abusive to o-rings. Acetone will really eat up any acrylics, polystyrene, PVC, and I think polycarbonates.

Thanks, unfortunately, my chemistry wasn't accredited by a college or even legal when I was doing it but I enjoyed the hell out of it. Especially having to know about what solvents go with what plastics. I found the whole precision of chemistry really fascinating, and see the results of my own work was rewarding. I remember one chem: P-benzoquinone, man that stuff is really nasty.

the only thing i am surprised people are still not insulating components and also waterloops and blocks >> you should probably do it to avoid killing it prematurely
Yeah insulating is always good advice. When I ran this loop it was really cold outside so I put a fan in the window and kept the room closed for several hours to reduce temps and humidity. Room had to be around 5c if not colder.
Doing such a thing in the summer would be murder.:eek: I'm sure she would have been dripping water after justa couple minutes...
P.S. Hopefully Amd will have something on the table to play with this winter. If not I'm movin to Penryn. Been loyal to Amd for a lonnng time, but I need to have some fun...
