My apologies, iMAX, for any doubt I cast on your discovery.

That looks like a nice chip to have. I still use my s754 box as my main PC and one of these would do nicely in it.

largon, do you mean the 2nd letter, not the 3rd? i was under the impression that the 3rd letter in the code after the week is the batch that day

Totally OT, but why do people black out the last few letters of the CPU code? Just wondering if I should've done that when I posted my Venice or Opty....

It's serial code. They don't want AMD to track down and when they RMA their stuff coming back to them... HAH you overclocked this. No warranties for you!!! or even worse.

on average, expect something like the other e6 venice based cpu's (s939 venice & s754 sempron64) do. nothing too fancy, but 2.5-2.6ghz should be sure thing.

well, the worst thing that could happen is that your mobo recognizes cpu as 'amd hammer family processor - model unknown' just like with dfi nf3 & 64bit semprons. and that didn't stop many ppl reaching high clocks. :)

Well AMD actually couldn't care less, RMAs are calculated in the price so that's not a problem. Also a picture posted on the internet isn't proof of you overclocking the CPU.

It's more like local suppliers which may give a problem, but actually it's bull:banana::banana::banana::banana: to cover up the serial.

Also iMax prolly doesn't know but the little square on the IHS is a 2D matrix serial which contains exactly the same code as the numbers on the IHS.

If you block out the serial, also block out that square. But it makes no sense, just don't block it.

At actually seems he has 2 different CPU's since I get a different readout from the barcodes.

You are right, sorry I've not told to you at first. I have 2 different CPU, one in box and another in testing.

I've only wanted to intruduce the box socket 754 and the OPN because my friend thinked it's the new Sempron.
