Great...
It also need some additinal punishments in the intel's side for the still mafia practices (they don't learn they lesson).

maybe amd could add a dildo device into the cpu ... this way they could really mess up intel ....
this comment was made for the lulz obviously
Wow, way to raise the quality of the discussion guys. :shakes:
lol i was like "wtf??". Corvus is right...: (. i am hesitant to talk about the arch (things usually go south from there), but am i the only one excited about CMT and what it might offer? the way i understand it is that - it is like smt only; it is a hardware based solution versus intels software solution (smt).
AMD's facing their biggest challenge yet. They cannot mess up BD's release, or else they may never be able to catch up. It's going to be an endless cycle.
Bet the mod's gonna be happy when this thing is finally released lol. Unless the results are controversial of cause ;)
intel's compiler is not popular. MS and GCC are by far more used.
that's not going to be public information.

these wont necessarily affect bulldozer because they should be fixed by then.

this is one logical core. it can run two threads.
^That is not a core, it is a module. Orochi will have four of those for the desktop chips. Server chips will have up to eight. AMD would have to try really hard to screw up the throughput performance of a module with those kind of specs. As long as AMD can actually manufacture it on 32nm, I don't think anybody has to worry about AMD.
EDIT: DAMMIT! blindbox beat me to it. This post was meant as a reply to Chumbucket843.
Which product will be released first? Interlagos or Zambezi?
in AMD terminology maybe which i dont use. a "module" is a core. a "core" as far as i can tell consists of a datapath and maybe cache and control logic.
a core must be able to do all of these tasks.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU#Operation
an AMD "core" cant fetch or decode instructions. it is just the execution stages.
When the system boots, it sees 8 (valencia) or 16 (Interlagos) cores. When the OS loads, it sees the same number of cores. Apps see the same number of cores.
Throughout history there have been a variety of shared components, from memory controllers to caches and even more.
You can use "your" own definition, but you are in the minority. The rest of the world understands what a core is.
Between 1356 & bulldozer, I'm not sure which I'll move to. I've been with AMD since q6600 (moved to P2 945 and athlon x3) and will be going back to intel for 1156. Lets hope whoever wins out here wins big or simply equal w/ AMD being a LOT cheaper.
Do you guys think we'll see bulldozer between Q1 and Q2 of next year? I don't want to wait more than a year!
yes, i think (my meaning), launch will at Q2 2011
