Give it time, Im still waiting for half the parts to come in, this is canada after all, it comes in by dogsled ;)
and to prove its not going to be a suicide run i will be running inxi, it will also show uptime (yes im a 'nix user)

cool! an Extreme run in the making!
will be waiting for your extreme experiment
BTW what was that you said about putting FOIL in between the proc & HSF? can you expound more on this?
Of course, I wiped all the heat gel off, i took a piece of tin foil, the exact same you wrap your food in, folded it up to match up with the CPU as flat as possible, stuck the heatsink on and locked the mounts down, ran it at load for 24 hours and it was running 3 degrees celcius cooler then before, i was actually quite surprised myself
just load her up @ 5ghz n get the casket ready
your best bet is to swap out the fan on the stock heatsink with a 7k rpm delta and put the PC outside (depending on where you live in canada, and how cold it is out there.) and maybe with some 1.7v suicide shots, you can reach 5ghz.
but whats the point on OCing with a budget, then go and buy the most expensive AMD chip? a 1055T is going to reduce your total PC cost by 10%, but should get withing 10% of the same clocks. which is a 400mhz difference past the 4ghz mark.
a real budget PC would be to buy an x2, and unlock it and OC it.
why the stock heatsink? if you're just looking for non-tower coolers i'd suggest an XP-90c.
wait, what?
I bet you a: PICTURE OF ME IN YOUR WOMAN'S BLUE PANTIES.... you don't even close !!
Pull you head out of your arse, come back to reality and stop pulling your :banana::banana::banana: !
a troll he might be, he's on a mission so let's see this thing through as a team, guys.
so what cpu is he going to do this on ?
A phenom x6.
U have balls man! keep up the work
I hope the sleigh-dogs didn't die in the cold :(
I think its possible mate, wouldnt go for the tin foil though...
However; 5ghz with box cooler is possible, during a hurrican on southpole, no problem!
I wonder if dude fried his CPU by now?
Maybe you've already seen this, and while it's not with stock heatsinks, it's probably the best answer I can give you: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=250607
Oh and remember to post your results in that thread when you're done!
Hint: They didn't use a Noctua D14 only to get quieter operation.
So, where is 5G? Ran out of tinfoil maybe?
i think 5ghz valid on air will be possible.. if flank3r already got 4.8 w/ 20c ambients, with a good chip 5.0 may be possible w/ sub 0c ambients IMO but dont use heatpipes because they will freeze, use a solid AL or CU heatsink
I am eagerly looking forward to this
I also agree that it isnt possible, but would love to see you try :)
There is NO way a Phenom II X6 will hit 5ghz with normal aircooling... Thinking that it will do it on air makes me laugh (sorry, no offence).:ROTF:
The spirit is just right, but a bit of reality would be welcome!:welcome:
But have fun anyway:up:
