You were right:
I'm experimenting, its really touchy...3k is broken. Yes thats a 2.7 Ghz HT Link

600 mhz more ht link = 300 ( 275 whatever! lol ) points more? that's good scaling.
The 4850 is in, having CPU issues atm, and the system refused to POST 17 times before now. I reset CMOS 11 times.
Im in Wondiws Vasti right now under Cat 10.3 and I'm gonna clock it for a bit of 3D. I know it still does ~750 core and the mem is just as good as it was.
3D Results look good on this board, I've been tuning 3DMark06 all day:

All my problems with my 4850 seem to have dissapeared on this board...
The VRAM is voltmodded, but it artifacts above 1175
Seems the 890GX is a good board. I bought the 945 because I wanted a 95watt version with the 790X UD4P. Haven't really pushed it yet.
New Personal Best:

I love this board.
Uh,
What exactly is lapping?
Regards,
TrentH
PS: When you become the next billgates as seeing your 14 and know 10x as much as me.
Put my name on something ok?
before: 40-41c idle, 58-59c load
now: 31-33c idle, 52-53c load
A noticable difference lol
wow Big difference, how far do you go with lapping the CPU?
how about taking out the IHS totally???
similar to this
http://forums.overclockersclub.com/A...de-t61534.html
awsome results
I guess your right But it seems like if theres a will there's a way :D
where's my blowtorch
http://forum.xcpus.com/mods/16029-k10-ihs-removal.html
Since below the IHS is copper, wouldn't a copper heatsink conduct heat better than, IHS to copper?
I mean, Copper to Copper vs IHS to Copper
The copper heatsink and copper cpu would transfer energy more effeciently?
...i guess copper is more expensive???
& more resistive to laser markings???
When you lap or remove the IHS.
How do you go about mounting your heatsink back on it?
Just put some AS5 on the chip and set it down?
Regards,
^ i guess same as you did twith the old Athlon XP CPU's just be careful not to chiped it
