I am in
Hey,
I was hoping on another lanparty this year, maybe in summerholiday?
Anyone interested?
Question is, what case and video card would you pair up with this? Seems kinda pointless to have all this capability without being able to fit it in an itx case.
It would be good for an HTPC, but if that's all you are using it for even an atom+ion board will do the trick. Or, you need a little more power for it to be a workstation i5 is still probably overkill. So, besides that, you have a SSF gaming computer. But, I think the only higher end graphics cards you would fit in an itx case would be like the 5750, which really doesn't need an i5 to back it up. That leaves you with a system with a lot of potential set back by physical limitations.
That doesn't mean I'm condemning the board, but I'd like to see what hardware people would pair with this.
a smaller micro atx with plenty of room left over but i can think of a couple itx cases that would pair nicely
SILVERSTONE SG06-B
or prob your best micro itx option
LIAN LI PC-Q07
Been looking over case options as well. Not much to look at if you're not a fan of SUGO's. I think Lian Li's new PC-Q08 might fit the bill. I've read it's supposed to hit the shelves before the end of the year, although, I may wait for Lan Gear's mini-ITX offering once I see the design.

Nice motherboard...and priced right if it's $125.
LC
where are people getting the $125 price from??

Are there power supplies that people use with the sg05? Not sure the stock 300w is enough for an i5 and 5850.
I think you'd have a great system on your hands with that combination.
Silverstone will be offering a high quality 450w SFF PSU very soon.
Well the board isn't really energy efficient for its size compared to other mini ITX boards.
And i dont get how people fail to see the point with this board all the time.
Its a hardcore gamer mini ITX board (one of its kind so far), look at the features dam it...
If you want energy efficient and low profile, one has other better options. But for a small, really small lanbox with some serious power this is perfect.
Ask and you shall receive:

450w PSU for SG05/06 AND $125 (probably a bit more though) for the DFI board CONFIRMED. :D
Take a look at a silverstone sg05 man. You can add in the silverstone 450w psu with 36 amp 12v and it will power a 5870 and i7860 cpu with ease. That will be a nice sff gaming rig. You could watercool it with a corsair h50 and use ssd drives to remove the 3.5 drive cage to fit the watercooling. That is my plan and I know that would be a awesome gaming system.
H50 w/P14 FLX, i5-650 or i7-860 a 5850 and the SG05 W/ 450W. I think that will be my BFBC2 rig (it the MI is as good as it looks).
But why oh why doesn't Silverstone make a alu. version of the SG05, i HATE SECC bodys :(
fair enough I was thinking more a 5850 because of the cost and a slight oc it will equal a stock 5870 in performance. 12.6 inches is too damn long!!! haha i didnt know it was that long but the 5850 is 9 inches i think.
5970 wouldmt fit into any itx case anyways meaning you might as well go micro atx. Also that fan in the front of the sg05 will most-likely have to go
The purest board with the LANPARTY name IMO.
