There's a recess at the inlet/outlet of the DB-1, probably a full 1mm, maybe 1.5, before the threading actually begins, which can give you grief with some very shallow-threaded barbs/fittings. I don't think the CPX was ever as bad, though. And comparing that photo to my own DB-1, the 2.2 looks like a bit of an improvement.Quote:

Using EK barbs on mine, and they're fine, going a good few turns in!
Has a lot to do with the diameter of the O-rings on the barb, The conical entry to the pump thread contains, and compresses a smaller diameter O-ring, further down, towards the thread, allowing far more purchase on the internal threads.

Not at all...my DB-1's inlet port only grabs non-BP/Koolance barbs :( I was going to use a BP male-to-male fitting and connect it right to my res, but I've been forced to use a tubing bridge with the stock DD fitting at the inlet.Quote:

LOL no worries Eddy. I have two of the larger pumps connected in series pushing through a Black Ice GTX 240 then an EK Full Copper Supreme then another GTX 240 and then finally 2 x EK 4870 x2 full cover blocks (no res- t-line) with an i7 D0 920 running at 4.0 GHZ 1.232vcore all one loop. It OCCT's for at least 2 hours and the temps of the cpu never breaks 60c on the hottest core and the gpu's float around 49c stock. They are nice little pumps. *note* running them in series makes em a bit noisier but not much.Quote:

Oh, there are plenty that exist, it's just that most are rather overbuilt for our purposes (external gear pumps tend to work fine with water, internal gear pumps (like those used as oil pumps in cars) are usually meant for use with higher viscosity fluids). My guess would be that switching over from more traditional brass/bronze/steel construction to materials like UHMWPE and high molecular weight POM in an external gear pump would probably help with cost and lubricity/durability issues.Quote:

the pressure of a gearpump is no joke.. using a gearpump will make single loops with tri-sli and several rads possible while maintaining needed flowrate.

Any plans to rotate the reservoir 90 degrees as an alternate model? Not to keen on the whole cylinder next to a box look.
Soon as those comp fittings come out as high flow 3/4" OD I'll have some of those. More accessories to come? Id love to see some competition for bitspower with the twist and angle fittings they do. 2 snakes and 5 anti twists cost me more than my pump ffs. And they barely twist!
Love the pump though - have 2 already :up:. (and went out on the town on the money saved over a ddc...)
Too bad the barbs on this are for 3/16" I.D. tubing. I've been sooooo tempted to get one just to play with it for quite a while now. :D Would like it if the gpm could be a good bit higher but who really cares when you have 22psi? :rofl:Quote:

Sorry Eddy, I wasn't too clear with my description - I meant so that the base of the reservoir attaches to the inlet of the pump, like the traditional ddc+res look.
