AMD To Crank Up Phenom II Clock-Speeds Upto 3.50 GHz, Planning New Models

Maybe they'll release that so-talked-about FX chip at 4GHz :D

if your referring to mine theres a period 2 different statements I dont mean they should have come out with one 2 years ago, but they should have released one now instead of doing this 3.1 3.2 3.2 ect etc crap

But I think that 4Ghz is pushing it too much.... Maybe 3.6, but beyond that its prolly a no go for stock clocks, at least for now while it still matures.

I predict next stepping in late 09, with a 3.3 or 3.4Ghz sku.

3.5-3.6 if it happens won't be till some time into 2010.

Launch a 3.6 now? LOL no chance.

No Current phenom II will go near a stable 3.6Ghz on low volts with a stock cooler, at high temperatures, so how exactly could they just launch one at that? Because overclocks with good cooling, ideal motherboards, and low ambient temps can hit 3.6? :lol:

You do realise thy bin chips to be STABLE across a wide operating conditions? Seriously guys :rolleyes:

Where have you been? Many PII's will do 3.6 stable on stock volts.

For a moment I thought we were talking about Pentium II's I was going to say that anything over 500Mhz was pretty impressive overclocking!
Anyway back on topic AMD have come far with the Phenom II, with the original Phenom they were a long way behind Intel, but now AMD are clipping at Intel's heals.

The new stepping looks good for them, expect 3.4Ghz Max Speed FX type (probably BE) processor, however the Phenom II is cooler than it's original and would be more beneficial for those not wanting to shed out on a new platform with DDR3 prices still being more than DDR2.

Maybe they'll release a 3.15, and a 3.25 model also. That way the buyer can pick their favorite number. :D

Hmm, going by the logic[s] presented, Intel should be able to release a 4Ghz quad soon seeing that my average Q9650 clocks to 4Ghz stable with less than vid.; oh and this:

And a Core i7 995 3.6GHz with just 12.5% more clocks over the current 3.2GHz 965 model (3.2GHz x 1.125 = 3.6GHz).

The fact home users can clock their chips to an arbitrary clockrate does not translate into a manufacturer being able to validate a comercially viable yield at that clockrate.

3.6 on intel was so 2005.

The AMD fanboys just do not grasp that even the intel people want good AMD products so intel has to work for our business. We get really tired of buying 8x multiplier cpus because AMD is behind.
