I don't particularly care about "native" v. "glued", so long as I can have 8 cores per processor. I'd think it stupid of Intel if they stuck to duals and quads for another generation. If Nehalem is a native quad, why not glue two together and charge 125% the price of a normal quad? If the Conroe --> Kentsfield is any sign of what's to come, I'd assume that the initial quads will be tweaked and finally glued together for some octas.
