nice job, i was going to do something very similar, untill i found out the pc-a77 exists.
The full tower is a safe bet but its competing with the likes of the TJ09/07 which is a winner everytime.
Got any update on how the finished system looks?
I'd love to see it, because I was going to get the similar A16, but originally wanted to place the rad in the bottom of the case (i.e. cut a hole into the bottom). Your solution looks much better though, especially since I don't need the CD Drive very often.
And btw, I emailed the German distributor of Lian Li, and the A77 won't be available until the end of May, at the very earliest :(

Cant make up my mind internally with the blocks but the PA is sweet!!

I now have the shroud fitted also.
The only modification I had to do was lower the shroud about 3mm so that the IO panel would not be put under pressure from the shroud.
Also with the shroud in place there is not a hope of any fan controllers etc unless you remove the top case fan and push the rad back further into the case.

plenty of room up above to mount a pump i just dont have mine mounted correctly.I cannot make up my mind!!
If I was buying a new PSU I would look at one of those with detachable extensions.

Ambient temperature here in my place is around 20C.
not sure if you have experienced a wolfdale yet but what is really impressive is that when I stress test the CPU the temps barely rise around my set voltage of 1.3.
Its difficult to tell how the shroud performs but it does seem air flow is spread much better over the PA.
All in all I am very happy that I chose this case and this rad.:up:

How is your radiator mounted inside the case?
^good question.its not.
its just sitting there with the tubing and top of the case offering support.It wont fall out as it is a snug fit.Its difficult to see from the photos but the RAD actually fits nicely between the top case fan and the front IO panel.
Of course there are holes on the side of the PA which are used to mount the shroud which I could use to tighten the rad to the HDD frame.
Alternatively I may have to construct/buy L shaped brackets and use the holes on the PA that are used to mount fans and tighten the rad to the HDD frame.
Can the top cover be removed or is it fixed with rivets?
Top cover comes off.Just four screws holding it in place.Just aswell as it allows good access when cabling and mounting the rad.Quote:

My case just arrived.
I'm not used having small cases, so I was kinda surprised after I took it out of the package.
It looks so tiny compared to my PC70 and PC71.
I noticed that those 2 small plates in the front bays were a pain to remove.
I hope I'll be able to start installing all hardware tomorrow.

Barbs will facing upwards, so that won't be a problem.
Problem I was having is how to install my HD on the side of front cage, like you have.
I won't be able to close the right panel if I want it installed that way, so the only option left ATM is to simply place it on the bottom of the case, under the rad (gives me about 1cm clearance between the 2).
Top 2 bays will be used for fancontroller and DVD.
does that mean you are placing the rad on the bottom and not upwards like I have it?
that would certainly be awkward no?
As for the drives do they not fit becuase they are larger than mine?
Rad will be facing upwards.

How about getting one of those Mountain Mods HD caddies That attach to a fan opening? If you cut it down then you could have the HD mounted off the top radiator fan in the hanging down position. On my A16 I used a piece of foam to sit the rad on the floor, used 2 pump anti vibration mounts to secure it to the case (drilled them into the shroud) and that left me with enough space to mount a raptor and an optical, very, very tight, just make sure you've got a modular psu...or it's even worse. Hope this helps.

So you don't have to drill any holes or make any modifications to the original case to install the hard drives like that? There are just holes already there that will take the given screws??
I don't know which model of HD's he's using, but my Samsung SP2504C won't fit if I wanna install it the same way like he did.
The HD is 2.6 cm thick (like most ones) and if I want to install it the same way, I'm forced to move it a couple of cm towards the motherboard tray, so that I'll still be able to close the right side panel.
Distance between front bay and side panels = 2.5cm.
Which fan controller are you using? Silverstone do a handy accessory called the SPD06. It enables you to run a hard drive behind a fan controller, so you only use one 5.25" bay. I tried it with a Zalman and the Sythe Kama meter and it worked very well. I had no heat problems with a raptor.
You could also use those mountainmods HD brackets instead of mounting the hard drives like that.
Something I discovered after I'd mounted the radiator are these genuine Lian-Li radiator brackets, they're an accessory for the 343, they mount to the fan's.
