i am sure if it's on air the temps are way up there under load . i sure can't wait till all the end users get these so we can really see how great they will be .
great work ...post some more screenies for us of core temp and others .
where did you get this es at , if i can ask ?
4.5Ghz Prime Stable

you need to get over this draconian attitude that a 4.5Ghz overclock has to be proven by Prime 95...that my friend is STUPID!...many programs and benches can be performed at well below vcore that supports a P95 event...i suggest you get a grip on reality.
Hipro5 has basically the same results on air so I would presume these results to be valid as well.
1.5 to 1.6 is fine with air cooling, more than that would be dangerous 24/7, also I want to point out that would not make much sense the thread starter come with fake results as we know many people have already engineering chips, so if he lies over here his credibility will flop, because another member could says otherwise. I agree with smart ass about the validation because is not that hard to do it, it is simple and fast. So the thread starter should at least have showed us a validation or temperature results. I hate empty or non detailed threads too.
Metroid.
i agree with you metroid, without disrespect, we just want validation that it is stable. what measure would you present to confirm this other than prime95 or orthos perhaps. maybe there is no application or software that uses the same load, but hey would you be fully satisfied with a SPi 1M or even 32M and call it rock-stable?
that without question is a very nice OC, that will be great if it can pass prime95 8hours or more. we are looking forward to seeing one especially on AIR.
cheers and goodluck.
4.5 GHz is crazy. Seems like the 45 nm FAB stuff has more headroom than the 65 nm's that's for sure. It'd be cool to get this PC to run the x264 benchmark at both stock and overclocked levels.
P95 is not needed to qualify an overclock...in fact, it is over-kill in big time fashion...you can operate your overclocked PC staying well under the P95 vcore setting without any faults or misfires at all...most benches can be completed at well below the vcore required to run P95...i didn't see Fugger running a P95 episode at Intel's IDF to break all those records...this is NOT [H] forum...they might pull that.... *cr-p* over there but not in this forum except for the newbies who don't have a grasp on how to overclock and what is "stable!"
NOW...i will go along with the suggestion that CPUZ validation or a video or system bench would have been appreciated...but...since Hipro5 has accomplished the same feat, i accept kenofstephen overclock as valid and take his word that it is stable, but maybe not P95 capable.
seems 4.5G is the standard on QX9650
ANYTHING over 4 ghz on air is going to be EXCELLENT and going to make a lot of people happy. I think most people will be very satisfied to be able to reach 4g with a reasonable amount of vcore on air.
with a 10x multiplier, it shouldn't be a problem hitting 4GHz. but what about ones with lower ones? Q9300 has 7.5x and Q9450 has 8x and each would need 533 and 500fsb to reach it.
from what we know right now, its not often a Quad will reach that high of a fsb with ease but who knows, maybe these new Quads will surprise us
500 or more is going to be real easy if you are on a DDR3 board.
I'm buying a QX9650 as soon as I see some retail OC'ing results. $1K price tag be damned, my P5K Deluxe won't do 500 FSB anyways so I might as well buy the more expensive chip now instead of a lower chip and new mobo later.
I just can't get remotely excited about hand picked engineering samples that have proven again and again to not be representative of what consumers will have available.
I'v been building systems for over 10 years and always got excited when new cores were about to launch.Every engineering sample I have seen was a bad example of what the final rev would be,these are not hand picked review chips, they are early silicon samples.I will bet you anything you want that the final revs will clock better than these EE samples.
Whatdid you think intel would send out a few hand picked chips to some forum members?Do you honestly think they care about a few of us?
take a peak of what there current core2s clock with decent air cooling now. Most of them will OC 1ghz over stock with no problems what so ever, what makes you think a 45nm new chip can't do 1.5ghz or even more?
i was in the camp when i thought the ES samples were hand picked but now i am on the same side as Skratch!
everyone has to remember that these ES samples are in extremely good hands...these guys are the La Crème de la Crème...some of the best overclockers, Xtreme-ists!
