Intel shows off mobile quad core CPU

looks like I found a new friend for my htpc... time will tell

4 cores in a laptop!



That's cool, but I only use my laptop for surfing, email, a couple of older games, etc.


I can see how a tech on the road would like the extra cores. Although, I can imagine that 'core throttling' will come into play? Shutting down unused cores completely until they are accessed? Maybe i'm retarded, but it makes logical sense.

These programs literally bring my system to a crashing halt and make it impossible to do anything else. It's probably because you're stuck with a Pentium M IBM notebook like most of Intel :p

Unless you're one of the "lucky" ones with a Yonah? Has Intel even started distributing Merom notebooks to their employees yet?

Since I'm a software architect who specialize in multi-user environments, I sure as hell could use a QC, The desktop is going to die. It's just a matter of time.
