I took new-b advice and I think it kinda help a little. Like right when the logon screen; the desktop shows immediately. Other than that most of the delay is still before the logon screen. I also set my IDE detect to 5 sec instead of 35 sec on default.
wow, i did that little trick now the bar scrolls by once instead of 5 or 6 times like it used to. thanks for the tip :)
To speedup my SO boot time i've disable the prefetch boot function so now i see half a scrolling annoying bar :stick:
i did the IDE thing...
not sure what i was getting before, but i just had a 13-slide bootup. i dont think it helped, at least, much...
ive never been good at boot times though. they bother me, but i dont bother making them faster (except when i owned a raptor).
spends too long in text-only screen nonetheless. 8secs maybe.
i tried this and i don't see much difference, but it was alreaddy pretty fast for me.
I also noticed you can't modify the channels with something attached, so if you have 2 ide drives and a cd/dvd there will not be much left to modify.
I have 5 sata drives and 1 ide dvd writer so i could set 3 channels to none.

Okay, I'm figuring this board out.. That tip helped to disable IDE :banana::banana::banana::banana: in Windows.
I don't usually use a burner, so I have an IDE hard drive hooked up through the JMicron crap (into Enhanced IDE port) using a round cable I bought, not the cables that came with the mobo.. those didn't seem to work.
I have less than one bar at the Windows logo scrolling crap, and at POST (I think that's what it's called) I don't see anything, it's too quick.. It just flies and hangs for a second where that stupid JMicron sh*t advertises itself, but then I'm almost instantly into Windows.
I'd like to get that stupid JMicron screen off. It hangs for like, two seconds unless you press a key. Anybody know how eliminate that?

Well I have a theory, it's "possible" those with a multi 12V rail maybe having this problem. Reason is that most PSU's do not switched from a fully saturated rail to the unused rai. Therefore in most cases the unused rail always go unused. While your PSU does have enough power to operate your system it's stuck using the staturated 12v rail causing slow ups, BSOD, freezing, etc. Must 12V multi rails are between 17A to 20A(on the high side and rare). Going from SATA to IDE may move you to the other rail, for example. I am not sure how to confirm which rail you are on. I am not saying this is the case with everyone.
