It works ok with i955 ?
..and if you change cas 3 to 4 on channel A,channel B don't change??
Mostly @ tRAS when i want to set both (checked) on 4 (from 8) and apply. when reopening the tweakers i see a on 4 and b still on 8, same with some other settings :) i hope this clear's the question :D
Felix,
I was wondering if Memset is suppost to read MemSet 1.0 now as you posted? I downloaded the link but it doesn't add the 1.0...is that right
I have a 975 chipset and it does not add the 1.0. Anyone else notice this??
Waus-mod->I send you a private message.
jVIDIA-> it's work on 955 chipset.
Eastcoasthandle->I don't understand,if you download the link,it's 1.0 version,
for 975 or other... :)
Great ,the new version can work with my mobile 910GML chipset now but with a little problem...
I can change all the timing parameters except for tCL,which is the most important. Every time I change this parameter and click 'apply',the system just crash. Is there anyone using mobile chipset can change tCL parameter?
yeah, same crash thing here on changing CAS parameter on p5wd2-e
tried with spd timings on/off in bios,no succes
Same here.Quote:

I see that..
I haven't tried 1.0 yet, but on my P5WD2 Prem, I can't change CAS in the app without an immediate lock-up too. I need to boot with whatever CAS I want and can then change everything else no problem.
Thank You M8!!!
I'm running a DFI 875P-T that refused post at anything over 255fsb with the 5/4 mem multy... now i raise the cpu v in bios boot @ 250 up it with systool
and loosen the mem up in windows... fully stable @ 274fsb...
i just wish the 266 mem multy worked with this crap board... = driving me nutz lol... Anyone know any tricks for this old mobo???
Ty m8 keep it up...
P.S. if you need a free web host for the program PM me...
very nice :) ,but there are some problems with 915p.I can't change Cas latency and Ras to Cas Delay:nono: the system just crash.
This is my result with the first release::D
http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/1562/anonimottt3vs.jpg
...and you can change "Cas" and "Ras to Cas" with the first release??
:nono: i can't change it in both release.
...I send you a private message.
thanks, it even works on a dell 9400.
felix.. tomarrow i will take a dump for u!

http://rv.page.cegetel.net.perso.cegetel.net/MemSet.zip
Intel chipsets 845 & 855 are supported now. :)
For Cas on 9xx chipset,I made a little modification,but I think that
some motherboard (or some DDR2) don't support to adjust
Cas latency on the fly, because it's not any problem for others motherboard.
nice work:toast:
but it's not possible to change the cas latency on my motherboard :nono:
:D
do you think it's a ram problem or matherboard??
...not a "problem",but probably impossible to adjust it on your motherboard,
and I don't know why.
I can change the Cas without problem on a MSI 915GM-FR,
and it's practically the same.
ok:) but I can change the other timing....:confused:Quote:

okay a little progress.i still get the error, installation failed.
however,i can click on the memset.exe and the program pops up,but it does not display the whole windows.it seems cut off,and i have to scroll the bar sideways or up and down to see all the values in the boxes.
here is a couple pix describing what i mean
...Nice bug! :D
What is your OS?and your screen resolution?
Can you try this version:
http://rv.page.cegetel.net.perso.ceg...t/MemSet11.zip
hi felix.os is xp pro sp2
screen resolution is 1680x1050
i will try that version
Excellent tool!
I've a problem though, not sure if anyone else has the same. If I exit memset it likes to change my timings to something nasty like 6-3-2-31. If I restart memset all is well and it will revert back to the 4-3-2-8 that I set it to originally. Not a major problem as I can always leave it open, but it means that I can't use the "save" feature to automatically set my timings for me. Ah yeah, the save is funny too i think - it doesn't save the timings I tell it to. Otherwise a superb and highly recommended program. Thanks! This is on an Aopen i975xa-ydg btw...
...if you change your timings(for example 3.3.3.8->4.4.4.10) is cpu-z
indicate the same?
Yep, i'm using cpu-z to verify the timings and yes they do change correctly in cpu-z (apart from the cas latency which as you know can cause problems). If I exit memset though they change in cpu-z. It only just occured to me that it might be a cpu-z bug, i'll have to benchmark it and see.
Here's some screenies to show. My bios boots at 4-3-2-12 so i like it changed to 4-3-2-8, if i set the timings I want everything is fine:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ey/franck1.jpg
But if I then exit memset the timings in cpu-z instantly change:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...key/franck.jpg
If I re-open memset the timings go back to what i had set before, even without clicking "apply". The more I think about it the more it looks like a cpu-z bug rather than memset - i'll try and verify it later when I have time. Hmm... when it does it though, clockgen also will not report the ram timings and will grey out the fsb slider.
Hi everyone. Nice tool, but it doesnt work at dual channel. I am with this motherboard(i865PE). When I put 2 DIMMs, the PAT doesn't actually work. CPU-Z shows that it is turned on, but actually it is not (there is no memory read acceleration). The FSB is normal(200mhz). Does anyone know what may the problem be?
When I put 2 plates of ram, the tool doesn't work. If i try to turn the PAT on from the BIOS, the PC doesn't boot even with timings 3-4-4-8(we are talking about ddr400), even with 2.8 Vdimm :(. But when there is one DIMM module, it starts without a problem, and the PAT works(there is memory acceleration). Why doesn't it boot with 2 dimms with PAT? The plates are exactly the same.:(
P.S. I am with the last BIOS for this MB.
Can someone suppose what's wrong?
Nice :D
Ill test it...
is it possible to update the program to include Trc AKA Bank Cycle time as reported by CPU-Z 1.34.1?
For the 975 chipset (P5WD2-E Prem)
I don't find tRC in Chipset registers,but if I find,it will do.
It doesn't work with my laptop. It has 915G chipset..
What is the problem?
I'm sorry Felix..it works fine now.It was windows problem..very nice program!
awesome app. felix works in vist beta 2 as well!:)
I didn't know that MemSet run under Vista,it's an excellent news! :)
I upgrade MemSet for 2.0 version:
MemSet20.zip
Screen on the first post of this thread. :)
-Interface was changed for all chipsets, and I add a little GroupBox
with system informations.
-Some bugs was corrected.
Note that "memory" panel reporte the memory configuration of your chipset,
not the specification of the SPD.
Reporte me a bug please.
Thank you for the update. :) MemSet has been a big help to me and many others.
Does it already works with i955 ?!
any chance this will support the 965 chipset??
Possible,probably in a next version.
Here is MemSet 2.1:
MemSet21.zip
A little change for 9xx chipsets.
http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/6...mset9454et.jpg
very nice :D ;)
Thanks for the great tool dude. Don't suppose you will add DRAM latency parameter for 865/875 chipsets? :toast:
sweet...
jsut another question, whats the lowest u can set to the 4 latency numbers:
ex. can i change 5-5-5-15 to something like 1-1-1-1??? i am getting either 975 or 965 for conroe, need to know this :O
When 1-1-1-1 capable memory will be out on the market, I'll be the first to sell my apartment to get a kit. C'mon, read more
i dont know bout that dude with the P5WD2 prem board but this tool works fine on mine.
the only thing i can think of is the kid has that setting in the bios enabled.
ugh i cant think of the name right now. basically what it does is it increases the cas timings of the ram in order to ease up the stress on the ram.
its like right underneath the ram CAS timings in the bios.
thats the only thing that could make it do what he says its doing.
either that or he has the bios all set ot Auto in the SPD settings.
works fine for me on my P4C800-E and my P5WD2-E Prem
and my gateway 680XL laptop that is the 915 chipset.
here is a screenie for the archives.
where is the DRam Latency Parameter ? and why is there not two settings since i have 2 sticks of ram.
Celie D 310 2,1ghz @ 3.7ghz - 1.45v
2x 512meg OCZ PC3500 Plat. 2-3-3-8 @ 230mhz 2.75v (TCCD ??)
Asus P4C800-E DLX
-For "Dram Latency parameter" the second bit correspond to "Command per Clock" for MemSet.for the first bit I make differents tests, but no effects, and I don't know what it's corresponding.
-It's not possible to change timings for channels A and B independently in 865/875 chipsets.
(Sorry for my english)
u know what i dont care about 965 . i think im getting either badaxe or dfi infinity 975. oh btw can this set memory permanently?? or is it kinda like clockgen, where u have to set it every time u reboot??
Thank you very much, Felix, for the program :)
:toast: Cheers!
Thank you for your excellent tool!
Is it possible to "save" settings (INI file)? And then "load" those settings in Windows Startup or registry HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run ?
Thank you!!
that would be great, i hate setting everything up each time i restart.Quote:

Hi to all !
I have a little problem with HP NX8220 and x1 Corsair 1024MB DDR2 533
-It doesn't work with my laptop. It has 915G chipset.

Hello guys,
here is a version of MemSet for 946 and 965 chipsets:
MemSet965.zip
Note that it's a Beta version,not definitive:possible that
it's necessary to remove some settings, replace it or add others:
I don't sure that "CS# to mch..." or ""Enhanced mode.." are useful.
Also possible some settings don't work under XP,like Cas# on 975 chipsets.
946/965 configuration register is completely different that others 9XX chipsets,
but with most options,so most interesting.
Reporte me bugs or problems. :)
nice job :toast:
keep up the great work
very useful program!
hhmm CAS timing still reported as 3 on the Gigabyte DS3. no matter what you set it too.
not really a bad thing its just read wrong.
Hey, thanks for the program! I like it much better than rebooting everytime I want to try new settings. I got my OCZ PC 8000 4-5-4-15 down to 3-3-3-8 with my 805D @ 4 Ghz :)http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=107136
Thanks...Quote:

Jedec specification mentions to completely refresh the module every 64ms. At that point it depends on the number of lines in the module. For example if the module has 8192 lines, the refresh rate for a line must be : 64ms / 8192 = 7,8us.Quote:

1)
open the program the first time works fine.
2)
cose the program and the memory timings reported by cpu-z instantly go to like 10-15-15-30 wierd.
3)
open memset965 again and the meset timings are 90 missing and only a few show and they are reported way wrong like 7- - - 7- 7 - 11- - -
4)
enhanced mode i believe is just the turbo mode used in the bios
i tried one of the settings and it locked my system and made a screeching noice come out of the speakers.
5)
cpu-z on the gigabyte DS3 reports the cAS timings as 3 all the time no matter what you do once you start to overclock the system. If you use memset965 and manually set the cas to what you have it in the bios, cpu-z will now report the setting you set with memset. this is a good thing! but also shows that the DS3 has a faulty memory reading. which we alredy knew.
so far its looking good felix, just need to address the issue of it not reading the memory timings correctly if you close and open the program again. and also address why it causes cpu-z to report really whacky timings if you close memset.
great job felix!
i'm using an asus p4p800-x (i865) which doesn't have the "performance mode [auto/standard/turbo]" option like the normal p4p800.. do you have any idea if this option could be added into memset? i followed all the timings on my friend's p4p800 using memset but got no gain in performance at all...
thank you!
dinos22-> not possible to change memory ratio on-the-fly for 9xx chipsets,
perhaps for 865/875,but it's not sure.
Lestat-> is the problem "Close and Open" appear if you run MemSet and cpu-z
in the same time? or also if you run only MemSet?
For "Enhanced mode.." I think that I remove it and replace...
ASTRAL->not possible to add "Performance mode" like P4P800.
Felix.
happens the problem appears no matter what, open it and its ok.... close it and reopen it and the readings a 90% missing. and 4 show but they are 7----7---7--------63---reserved
enhanced mode.
if you look at the description doesnt it look like some sort of bank interleaving ??
the names in the settings almost seem like interleaving or some sort of enhanced bank cycle.
the only way to make memset read the correct timings again is to reboot your pc.
felix also.
memset for 915 chipset,, i love it it works great on my Dothan laptop.
have you ever played around making a FSB tool ?
For enhanced mode, the exact description is:
-Swap enabled for Bank Selects and Rank Selects.
-reserved.
-Swap enabled for bank Selects only.
-reserved.
But if settings differents that default setting make the system lock,
I prefer to remove it...
For the problem "close and open",it seem that MCHBAR register is not
unlocked the second time you run MemSet,but I don't know why .?.?
I'll try to fixe that.
For FSB on Laptop,I don't know the process to do that, and I not the time
to learn it...I make MemSet,that's enough for me. :)
felix i can set timing and stuff, but after i press the "exit" button, timing got changed to 10-10-10-31 heh, but i can press the X to close the program n nothing happened. Can u fix that?? or is it jsut me??
When you close MemSet by "Exit" button MCHBAR is locked,
if you close by X,MCHBAR stay unlocked,it's the reason why cpu-z
report 10.15.15.31 when you close by "Exit".
I think that it's a problem with cpu-z,because this problem don't appear
with 975 chipsets or others.
I'll ask at the author...
oh darn, sad to hear this... :(Quote:

you can take this new beta version:
MemSet22beta.zip
It works on all chipsets (845<->975).
It's a beta version again, because there is a lot of change
between 2.1 version.
I add a checkbox "Auto" in SubTimings for 9xx chipsets :
in fact,when you change #Cas , #Ras to #Cas , #Ras precharge,
some SubTimings also automaticaly change.
It's allow you to change timings "like the bios",I think that it's better
for most stability, especially for "read delay" and "#CS to MCH..."
This checkbox is checked by default when you run MemSet.
Note that #Ras to #Cas read an write change in same time if this chekbox is checked.
uncheck it if you want personal timings...
It seem that some motherboard don't accept a second access in mchbar,
it's the raeson that when you re-open the soft, timings is "-7.7.7-----63---"
and it's probably the same when cpu-z read "10.15.15.31"
Perhaps fixe with next update of bios...? Wait and see.
Tell me if you find (possible) bug or problem with this version.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but...
All I have in my BIOS is X-X-X-X and then one more I forget the name.
Obviously all these timings still exist, but they are settable in Windows?
Would there be a way to somehow add something to startup, not that opens the window, but just sets the timings? I'm a big believer in 24/7, practical, stable overclocks... not Clockgen type apps.
Still very cool though. Makes up for crappy RAM settings on P5W (or, I hope, haven't tried it yet... kind of worried, honestly, A64Tweaker messed up my BIOS chip).
thanks
Hope now the cas latency can change without lockups .
Andrew the P5W dH only allows fo the MAJOR settings.
the SPD takes care of all the rest.
most people wont need to mess with all thos eother times.
you can adjust them with this program though. which is really cool!
Felix THANK YOU!!
I still have problem running Memset on my laptop (Asus M6VA), i915PM, 2*512 (infineon + kingston). When the program is executed it crashes/freeze or BSOD and then restart immediately :( . I tried different versions and I have it in Program files. RMMA works fine there, but I can change just RCD, RP, RAS (no CL and other stuff). It would be great help to hypermemory :D.
On my desktop PC i915G Asus P5GD1-VM runs smoothly.
Great program ;)
I have an ASRock 775Twins and it doesnt work on mine :(
Says not for this chipsee.
