My 3770k is instant bsod at 5.2ghz, but 5.1 can bench all day at 1.48.
ram is 2000mhz, 9,9,9 27, had to crop out cpuz memory shot, so pics readable.

So far, is there any trending with the 3570Ks yielding slower OCs than 3770Ks? Not quite enough samples in this thread to tell one way or the other.

Is HT really all that useful in gaming and stuff? I'm trying to decide between the 3570 and 3770. I mean when each core is running 4.5ghz+ is it not fast enough to chew through tasks?
HT isn't really useful with gaming, but it is on some scientific processing, video editing, etc. The binning may be better on the 3770s, though, meaning you may be able to get a better overclock on the 3770s. I understand this was the case with the 2700Ks, but I don't think there is enough data out there yet to tell one way or another with the 3770s...
Really does wonder if it is worth the huge premium, relatively speaking.
I think this is the first chip I'm going to pass on Hyperthreading with -- considering that virtualization support has been removed from the K series, I don't see much reason to have Hyperthreading for my usage patterns (I game with my primary PC and turn old hardware into servers). I don't think the extra cache on the I7 is really going to make much difference gaming, and I'll just put the saved cash toward a second or third vid card.
I went from a 920 to a 3570K and personally I havent missed the hyperthreading. But i would miss my $100 :D
Budwise, how's that cpu/mobo combo treating you?
After adding various expansion cards, I've had to increase voltage to keep stability on my 3770K :(
45 x 100
2 x 4GB Samsung HCH9 DDR3-2133
From no expansion cards with a bios offset of +0.005V, using IGP.
Then adding:
+ X-Fi Titanium HD PCI-E, increase by 0.020V, for a BIOS Offset @ +0.025V
+ Radeon 7770 PCI-E, increase by another 0.025V, for a BIOS Offset @ +0.050V
I am wondering what I will need to increase to move up to 4 x 4 GB.
I've been testing two 3570K from batch# L204B450. They both seem to o.c. in a similar manner... 44x with ~ 1.15v (load), 45x with ~1.20v (load) and 46x with ~1.25v load

Will be leaving in a bit to get a 3570K. Is there a certain batch to look for yet? Or are A/B/C better for daily water?
Didn't know what batch to go for, so I picked a c batch close to center wafer since Bs seem pretty hot. Got a 3205C109.
Good call Cecil.
B's have not been super impressive for most.
How did u get to pick?
At MicroCenter, had someone look around through a few of them.
Last couple digits, lower the number, closer to the center. 15 and less is center.
Just got home, have a lot to tear down and work on tonight. Will probably throw it up on a rack with a Hyper 212 Evo to get a baseline.
grats that is on air? 3570k 5.3? that could be a golden chip. are you pulling my leg? that chip needs to be on ln2.
I'm looking for s/n 2Vxxxxxxx4000~4099. Lol
why the serial dumo?
This is what Im working with:

Im running H20 with the ac blowing directly into the rad pulling cold air in.

etc etc.
I havent messed with the ram at all.
dumo i ran the kit at 7-10-7-24 1t (12) to start at 1.7vdimm @ 2200 and 2400 and no luck.
I think im missing something. anyway it seems like a decent chip so far.
5.2 32m spi I crashed at loop 18-19 at 1.48 vcore.
temps are around 22-25c with the ac on.
that 1st post at 1.52 vcore for that 1m run was not what I set. I have no idea. I think I set 1.48 I jus tnoticed that now. Im a little scared. roy boy call me when you have some time tomorrow. I will be home around 4pm our time.
VID is 1.032v. LinX load with the Hyper 212 is in the 60s at stock with 16GB ram @ 1866.
Undervolted to 1v even, 4Ghz LinX AVX stable 60C hottest core. Bump to 1.1V and that jumped to 72C lol. Passes 4.2 with 1.1V, testing 4.4 with 1.15V. Im now up to 80C though, so thats about all it will do with this air cooler, LinX stable.
Thats what Ive been following since 1366, and at least I can say every one Ive had under 15 has been at least decent. Could be coincidence, but Ive had about 5-6 CPUs now under 15.
I really wanted an A stepping, Ive always liked them best for good water setups. Guy at MC couldnt find any though.
oh on air
IVY temp goes sky rocket around 4.6-4.7 ????

Seems like an additional 0.010V to get 4x4GB DDR3-2133 stable, for a BIOS offset of +0.060V. Tweaking VCCSA and RAM timings didn't help.
Can't for the life of me get 2x4GB D9PFJ's to boot at DDR3-2000. There is no tRC to adjust which looks like a crucial timing for getting those sticks to boot.
test for ibt succes, but when use hyperpi got error. playing game well.

After upgrading MG5 bios from v.0701 to v. 0813 I and raising vcore voltage from 1,25v to 1,28v I was able to get it 4,8ghz stable on air (cooled by Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and single Scythe SY1225SL12M 120mm fan). With v.0701 I was not able to get even one lynx run stable @4,8ghz at all kinds of voltages (1,25-1,30)..going for more :)

Whats the best mobo currently for IB overclocking?
I think most people will agree on Maximus V Gene.
An awesome board I agree.
was going to try the gene but the SLI covers the last PCIe slot where should go the external PCIe to PCI convertor for my audio pro card :/

Much happier with this one. Able to do 4.5 Ghz as a daily driver at around 1.170V, on load a bit lower. Great chip. Vid is a bit higher than my last one, but that needed 1.275-1.28 for the same speed and ram. And that was ten degrees hotter in Linx.

BTW, can we disable Igpu
^^ Sweet!!!
Did you pick it from SMC in Delhi coz I picked the one with same batch too in the evening as soon as they arrived? But mine has serial ending with 269. Small world!
Let's see how it goes with me. I will be putting together a system in a week or so.
guys...for my 3570k costa rica batch, cooling by ANTEC KHULEER 620 dual fan...what can waiting for?,and how much can increase vcore for 24/7 in ivybridge? thanks for replys
Decided to disable HT on my L206B351 and I'm glad I did.
I might just keep it this way :yepp:
Little bit toasty but it was a hot day.

Picked it up in bangalore.
Anyway, any idea on how to disable the IGPU?
Does not show in system devices for me, so does that mean its disabled?
^ mav2000 iGPU will be automatically disabled, once u install a GFX, btw what's ur board...
Is it for Overclocking benching or just for gaming. Bought myself 3570k just for benching.
More for daily use and maybe a little of everything else as well. Am using an m5g and it's a great board
Me too have a M5G, its one of the best working & looking board.
About the chip as far as i know, this is an average chip, binning isn't working well with IVB. Ur chip can do 4700Mhz with 2133Mhz ram 24x7 @ 1.320 vcore.
With corsair's fan at max and ambient < 18c

Hi folks.
A few question for those overclocking 3770K.
My setup.
3770K
AsRock Fatality Z77 Professional
4 x G.SKILL ARES 2133MHz (16GB)
I've found a stable overclock for 3770K @ 4.5GHz
Offset = +0.050V
Load-line calibration = Auto (Level 5 which is the lowest/mildest)
All power management options are at default (enabled) (C1E, C3/C6 etc)
Under Prime95 and LinX load, CPU-Z reports 1.200V
This passed 20 passes of LinX and 10 hours of Prime95 (Temps ~ 93C under full load)
Now, my questions are :
1. Is it better to *raise* load-line calibration and *lower* offset voltage ?
For example : Offset = +0.040V with LLC at Level 2 ?
Not sure if this would make difference at all since my 3770K seems to require 1.200V under full load to be stable @ 4.5GHz. (Be it with LLC or not, as long as 1.200V is provided to the 3770K, it's the same, right ?)
2. When I went with *Fixed* Mode (rather than *Offset* Mode), below were the value/settings in BIOS which gave 1.200V under full load (according to CPU-Z).
Fixed = 1.215V (BIOS)
Load-line calibration = Level 2 (BIOS)
All power management options are at default (enabled) (C1E, C3/C6 etc)
Under idle as well as Prime95 and LinX load, CPU-Z reports 1.200V
And this gave me BSOD in Prime95 load.
The same voltage was applied to the 3770K. (Offset Mode and Fixed Mode) Why would Fixed mode give me BSOD while Offset Mode goes stable ? (After all, the same amount of juice is provided to the CPU (1.200V)).
Thanks!
why u are using OFFSET vcore dont u have manual ? its better more idle than load of course
in case you wanna do offset here the best guide i found for asus but will do as well
http://rog.asus.com/51092012/overclo...-core-voltage/
good luck
