But you have 150 mhz gain :D
Gigaflops mean what in real time performance or in benchmarks ? could be windows, bios setting dependant, impossible to compare,... pointless. Enjoy your nice CPU... you got a good one...
Yeah but having Cl9 mems ( I want 8Gb stick CL7... ) really kills my performance...
Uhm imo Gflops are a nice indicator of real life performance.
CPU is kind of a golden one for my ( I've done multi 56x and I can bench 5.5Ghz at 1.56v ) but for low vCores is indeed a very nice one

glops?? eh.. .dude this is about bandwidth. the glops vs a 2200mhz c7 difference was just around 1glops
when i see that kind of clocks.. all i see is a decorative m4e. Asus p67 pro would have suffice for that.
seriously nice proc.
if only that was in my hands now lol.
Uhm I changed from a p67 evo to the m4e but yes, still exploring. I gain like 1Gflop for each CL I dump ( 9->8 for exemple ) and around 4 for each mems multi ( 8-9-8 933 vs 9-11-9 1066 )
I should and I have some runs done with ~7Gb but it takes to much time just to test some few low changes...
download the last aida64....
sandybridge and everest= fake memory bandwidth
So can someone make a screen of all bios options regarding tweaking memory and voltages?
Guys, quick question. Trying for 5ghz right now, and i can boot in a verify CPU-Z at 5ghz 1.44v, however, when i increase the voltage above approx 1.45v I get a "CPU Overvoltage Error" on post. Any ideas?
wicked, thanks mate... had a feeling it was something simple like that :)
That should happen at >1.55v not at 1.45v, double check your voltage m8.
Yep, think you are right there. Just reloaded my 5ghz profile and booted no prob at 1.46v. Thing is when it did it i went in bios, checked voltage and rebooted and I could have sworn it was 1.45v that it was set too. Luckily after the 2nd attempt i switched back to my 4.8ghz profile so if it was running 1.55v+ it wasnt for very long. Im on water so im hoping ive not done any damage to the chip!
LOL maybe some will understand especially those who had the classified
Testing HT on
Sham etc farny almost samething here on m4e difference of ht On and ht off setting
Prob now is the way i ramped up the glops before running linx not working on ht on
Stuck at 80-81 for 4.85
should be in the range of 85-86.
I'm runing at low 80's with HT on. I wish there were better 8Gb kit's on the market :(
Well, ive been working on this chip the last few evenings, this is looking like my max 24/7 o/c. DMM reads 1.39-1.40:
http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/3...k48ghzlinx.jpg
One thing ive noticed though - so far ive just left the memory at 1600mhz to keep that out of the equasion, and cos i wanted to see what mhz i could get on this chip. Ive just started tweaking to get to 2133mhz. Ive tried upping my VCCIO (which from what i understand is similart to QPI/VTT on 1366) but anything above 1.15v just BSODs. Is there something I need to change in the DIGI+ VRM section or something to enable higher voltage?
They had some the new (B3) in stock at NewEgg last week and on a kind of an impulse I decided to order one. The board arrived today and its now time again to learn another BIOS...
well turns out had to do a few more tweaking to get the difference of ht on vs ht off.. wasnt vcore but others
but bios 120x awesome vccio back down to 1.075 again for 2250
bios 11xx is 1.175
bios 10xx is 1.075
bios 9xx is 1.175
no idea what happen but cheers to asus.
btw nice clocks in the bandwidth section
Agreed.., very good job indeed.
Since 1204, so 3 days now, I've had no more coldboot 'problems' & no more initialization problems on the Marvell ports.
Also idle board temp went down from 25C to 23C.
New bios 1298
http://91.121.148.119/downloads/BIOS...-ASUS-1298.ROM
1298 bios
ty asus
fixed read to read and write to write value's from 5-7 ( before always stays at 4)
fixed dram write to read delay.. default is 9 when above 2200mhz etc but previous bios set value was max to 8.. Now can use 9.
so just left one more on dram
set dqvref data/cntrl on bios
but in asus ai suite shows still 0.5x
Someone could please host the BIOS 1298 ? It ain't online no more :s
EDIT: new link
I just received my B3 MIVE today. Install ed two Asus gtx 570 DCUII's. Sli worked for a little while, now the card in the 4th slot over (16x slot 8x electrical) doesnt show up in windows anymore. I swapped cards from slot 1-4 and back again to no avail. Both cards work fine, but neither works in slot 4 at all anymore. Has anyone else had any issues such as this? With these 3 slot cards this is the only layout that fits.
If I remember it correctly, there was a site that reviewed this board and kept saying it kept killing their CPUs. And for that reason alone they wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Was it just their unlucky day or what? How likely is that?
Have had no trouble at all with this board currently running 5.4Ghz and doesnt miss abeat! Best board have ever had! Will wait for socket 2011 now for next upgrade!
Have to wonder what type of testing they are doing when nobody else has had this problem. Review sites, Beta testers or users.
Newegg has them in stock ... Get them while you can.
Edit: 4:07pm (EST) - If you didn't get one ... they all gone ...
Well, I turned on my pc and a flame lit up cole to the cpu fan header, but a good inch away from the mouting screws. The smell was bad. I cut power immediately. RMA'd the board today and luckily they had one unallocated to exchange with me.
My SLI works again. All other parts seem unaffected. System stable. Very odd.
I had the DLX, but since the B3 exchange I opted for the MIVE in return.
I love this board. Much nicer than the DLX imho. Probably OC similar though.
Pros
-I'm lazy so I just hit cpu level up 4.6ghz@1.35v and bamn prime stable over 3 hours blend and small fft. Love that.
- All of the extra fan ports.
- Thermal sensors included.
- 3 way sli
- I prefer the color scheme.
Cons
- Price
- Don't like the 4th PCIe 16x lane (8x electrical) as only half of it is soldered to the board and feels like it could really render the board useless if the card comes out wrong.
bios 1298.
Suddenly bclk stuck at 100MHz. cant adjust d.
reflash is not helping
AI Suite, IME and INF reinstalled, no help as well.
I've had similar probs on that bios. I can't get past post at even 4.7ghz using the exact same settings that are 24/7 stable on 1090. Weird.
I used bios flashback to go back from 1298 to 1090 ( much better bios imo ).
hmm dunno this is correct but
the molex connector near the rog sign is NOT for pcie
its for usb power
my roccat kave was givin me bsod on gamin on warcraft 3 ( yup i am gaming 4.95ghz with a gtx580 for this game only :P ) via thumbdrive ( lol my final test for mem stability)
plugged in the molex and the issue disappeared.
Interesting. I'm about to get a 2nd 580 for SLI, so does that mean I need to plug in the bottom molex and not the one near the ioh/nf200 chips?
I don't see why you would need both for 2 card SLI. I've had numerous SLI & crossfire setups since the NF4 days, and while I've had some boards that require 1 power connector I've also had some that have none and work fine. On the M4E I kinda assumed that u may need one molex for 2 card SLI and both if u are running tri-SLI.
I would think they're just there to relieve all the power having to come the main connector. If you can spread the power delivery around I can see the benefit in that. An extra 75W per card through the main connector is a lot.
Back in Stock at the egg -------> H E R E
And once again it's OOS.
finally received my mive today :)
any advice which is the most stable/best clocking bios atm?
I've found 1090 to be the best for me so far.
Try 1204, also very good. But still I can't get hypers to work on this board. I tried Asrock P67 Extreme4 and Gigabyte UD7, no problem with hypers :/
Would you guys be interested in some CPU speed performance scaling results? I have used what I consider to be an average CPU as far as voltage is concerned. Also used GTX 570 triple SLI so the results would be CPU speed dependent as much as possible.
All the benches have been run at 4600MHz, 4800MHz and 5000MHz. At each CPU speed the system was fully stable. I also have screenshots of MemTest For Windows. Prime95/LinX is not included because they did not guarantee stability after passing. The CPU voltage needed for successful runs of Prime/LinX resulted in the system crashing while rendering in 3ds Max, encoding and a couple of games.
What I was looking at was does it make sense for 24/7 use to run at 5000MHz or higher when most processors will run at considerably less voltage at a lower speed. I have screenshots and data from the programs listed below. All I need to do is finish up the charts. If there is some interest in this I'll get it done. Thanks.

@ Splave
still no love for the hypers on the new board huh
I haven't even opened mine yet
is that the green pcb or black pcb supertalents?
No love at all! 6-9-6 with bbse 2133 no problemo, but without hyper support this board is as good as a p8p67 pro to me
@ honda black pcb bruddah
the black pcb ones have loosers spd profiles than the green. i was thinking it woulda worked easier.
i still have to get the spd files of some other hypers.
raju mentioned of higher vdimm is needed as we're running this rams with more bandwidth...
See if i can come up with some "safe" baselines later tonight.
Obviously won't be tuned for OMG effec as thats your job but should get you to the point where it can be dialed in.
that'd be great, id be happy with 7-8-7-24-88 at this point lol
1.825v vdimm
lol
bandwidth booster = no gains in 32m......least if your manually dialed in, been there tested, even my e-peen didn't grow nor did my wife find me more desireable :(
1.825 is way to much volts i ran my crazy latency runs at 1.75 measured.........
Some can't even post with over 1.16vtt......
well this is at 1.725vdimm 1.1vCCIO something funny is going on when I bump to 2133, tried 98 bclk and same thing ram was like 2080 7-8-7

Sigh....1.544 for 5 ghz...can you lower the voltage? That's extremely high...
What CPU cooler are you using?
Where did you get EFI BIOS 1298? I couldn't find it. Can you send it to me?
I just found out that Corsair Dominator 2000C9 8GB memory (4GBx2) is not compatible with M4E. I kept having stoppage in Prime95 even at stock and I switched to Vengeance 8GB (4GBx2) and it's running fine now.
You can find it here... click (new link).

sorry no changelog :(
After flashing 1298 i got the Postcode F1 ?
F1 says: Recovery condition triggered by user.
whats the deal with how long this board takes to boot XP! It scrolls like 5 times before it loads ftl
I don't have any problems with XP, it boots very fast
It was probably a failed flash and BIOS was recovered. What program did you to use to flash? I use EZ Flash (98% of the time ) within the BIOS to do all my flash jobs...
Does anyone know why there isn't an Offset option for vcore on the M4E? It's set to Manual but it's also grayed out so I can't pick it. Maybe there is a back-door way, but I don't really know.
Can someone help me getting past the freeze at Windows 7 startup? It freezes at the time Window logo (four-color logo coming together). It only does this when I choose 51x or higher. Also, can someone give a rundown of the settings in the EFI BIOS so I can duplicate? Sorry to sound so newbie. Thanks....
so my efficiency blows hard on 32m, I am pretty sure it is the secondary timings.

That has always been Enabled when I do any OCing. Still no luck. Anything else I may have missed?
Under Digi + VRM (click on it, another screen pops up), what kind of setting to use for that whole screen top to bottom? It's somewhat different than the Pro and Deluxe.
What kind of settings do you set under Skew Driving Voltage and others under that section heading? Or the four lines under DRAM Voltage?
That splash screen, I think you can change something under Boot EFI BIOS to not do that. On Option ROM Message, if you change it from Force BIOS to Keep Current, you may be able to get rid of it.
Something that may shed some lights to you OCing experts out there is this: On when the PC is about to freeze after the logo, my HD LED becomes solid. You know, normally the HD LED only comes on when there is HD activity. But this freeze gives my HD LED a solid ON and it will remain like that until I reset the PC. If that tells anything.
Uhm I really need better mems, I'm on the hunt for a nice CL7 4Gb kit
http://hwbot.org/signature.img?iid=5...se&iehack=.jpg
Do you mind sharing your BIOS settings? There are lots of DRAM settings that I left at Auto. Could this cause the Prime95 stoppage issue I have?
On to another topic. I know it's not a good idea to run your rig 24/7 with high vcore, but at what voltage that will actually kill a CPU right on the spot? 1.6v, 1.7v, 1.8v?
@MacClipper: Got it! Thanks....
Edit: Didn't even realize the M4E doesn't have any firewire ports! Wow...amazing.
