We lost my 3005F671 due to a bit of condensation... Glad that it served us well before it went to the CPU afterlife
Seems Futuremark discovered result sharing for the top two results in Europe and disqualified these two results. ryba seems to be the new champ, hats off to him (even though he's banned).
lol so what the hell happend?
I think thats Why HWBot Update their rules about Score sell/buy, seems some ppl shared their scores, i ask FM about my prize for week 3 and got this Info:
Quote:
Hey,
We still have an active investigation to the validity of some of the results, so we haven't been able to confirm all final results yet.
This should be resolved by the end of this week and then you should here details about the prizes from the sponsors.
Each sponsor will take care of sending prizes individually, so I can't offer more details about the shipping at this point.

Hi Pasi,
The Futuremark LOOC finished 2 days ago, and we dont have oficila Info yet, its sad my score was not higher enough but is ok at least i won a the prize of week 3 :P, son when the sponsor will ask for our details for Shipment?
Thanks in advance ;)
That chip you received was from RMA?????
Oh man... I am soooo envious....lol...
My 5 core chip still clocks pretty well.. without much effort I could get it up to 6.4ghz.. no prob.. sucks though because I could only HT for 10 threads... Who knows if it will last though..... If I only had a good MSI board... lol
So who allegedly did what?
Why do people do this crap.. just play fair...
I'm sure that ryba is very glad.
We lost by so little in Paris .... now we will have another chance at Taipei WF ;]
Woah! Very interesting news -)
When should we expect the final Futuremark & MSI verdict?
I want to get my side of this whole situation out in the open…
Vapor was in town for some lab projects we have going on and I talked him into benching with me to qualify for MOA. We had a 160L tank of LN2, XPower boards and Ryan’s (GoatEater) untested chip. I setup the OS, drivers and applications and used the 197.75 drivers… I knew FM always lagged behind approving drivers and figured they hadn’t approved the 257.xx drivers yet.
Wednesday and most of Thursday we spent testing a few kits of RAM, how to clock the uncore on the XPower, and so on… Thursday night we went cold. We benched 480’s in SLI with the 197.75 drivers. And as you can see from the ORB links and screenshots (run 1 ORB / run 1 HWbot, run 2 ORB / run 2 HWbot) we did well with the 480’s and Ryan’s chip was pretty good, but the 197.75 drivers were not FM approved and we later validated that FM QA did not even test those drivers.
So, I have the score to be in second, but my driver choice means the entry cannot be used in the contest and the 480’s are pretty much tapped out score wise. I called in a favor to a buddy here in the Twin Cities to borrow his 5970 and 5870 to go higher in score.
Friday night we tossed the ATI cards on and benched for 7+ hours on Ryan’s chip. During the long session we achieved four scores above 43k and ended up having condensation issues and killing Ryan’s chip early Saturday morning as we were pushing for over 44k.
Saturday afternoon I finally uploaded the scores to ORB and did not even try to make them public at first as I wanted to hold out as long as possible to see what other scores were posted on the leaderboard, but I finally caved and tried to make the lowest score public and it would not go. Here are the screen shots and 3dr files from the Friday night session…
43023 SS / 43023 3DR
43474 SS / 43474 3DR
43553 3DR
43912 3DR
I emailed Pasi at FM and posted in the thread on the FM forums regarding the problem of the scores just not wanting to go Public. During the bench session we renamed 3DMark06.exe to 3DMark05.exe. In pretesting, we observed the score was not very consistent and renaming seemed to improve the consistency and therefore improved the average score slightly, by 50-100 points. Peak scores were unchanged, but low scores weren’t cropping up.
Since we were having problems with the results and had not received any word from FM, we switched over to another 980X and started benching again on Sunday night. However, we were still waiting on FM’s reply to see if they could resolve the ‘Make Public’ issue with the four 43+k ATI results I had uploaded. We ran out of LN2 around 2:00AM Central Time and did not beat our previous high score of 43912 from Friday night/Saturday morning.
We decided to wait up for FM’s reply to see if they could resolve the problem with the results. A few hours before the deadline, an offer came in from Andre for a valid score to secure the 2nd place spot… and out of desperation I took it. In the meantime, Pasi emailed back saying he looked at the results I uploaded previously and saw the the .exe was renamed, which made the checksum invalid and according to FM policy you cannot rename files (modifying the .dlls and .exes at all is forbidden). I uploaded the score from Andre, made it public and notified Pasi of the new project ID to be included in the contest.
The score I uploaded from Andre was pulled as you already know. Taking the 3dr file and uploading it as my own was a complete dumbass move. I exchanged several emails with FM this morning regarding the matter, to which I openly admitted to using Andre’s score as my own.
Regardless of my own stupidity, I want to congratulate the winners and wish them the best of luck in Taipei for the finals.
Rather sad turn of events. While I don't condone using someone else's result skinee I appreciate the fact you are man enough to come here and tell the whole story.
So if I read this right, Andre shared scores with 3 of the top winners?
This is not the first time from Andre to hand off scores (cheat).
Vapor should have known better than you can't validate scores with renamed files.
no competition if you share benchmark results and claim them as yours...
oc community is not happy
:confused::shakes:
That's just sad :( Selling scores? I mean, what the hell is going on nowadays in the overclocking community...
Thanks for clearing this up skinnee, props to you for admitting it!
I stayed up all night without being able to believe that he would win with the GTX480, but few minutes before the time runs out, went to third.
Never accepted any result from nobody...
But come here and admit this huge error is a dignified attitude.
What is disgraceful is a person like Andre Yang, who has excellent knowledge and great condition of have lots of top hardware, just having that attitude.
Not because he is "Andre Yang", which has many points, but not in competitions alive, but it does online, which can soil the image of a competition.
Unlike people like Hipro, Fugger, Shamino, Kingpin, etc ... that make spectacular scores and share knowledge and do not share (or sell) results.
regrettable.
Fugger would be under scrutiny for his own actions in last year's GOOC World Wide Final too..........this would dig up some serious skeletons from the past i think if Andre was to be singled out
not that i am being an Andre apologist...that was stupid of him
Scrutiny for? I did not share scores, never have and never will.
I am still looking at all the facts. We know that Hiwa and Andre were benching but that may have been bs, no way to confirm other than he stated such.
Skinnee/Hiwa/goat/afro?? will be banned for an as of yet undetermined duration, Andre will receive something a bit more suitable to offense against the benchers. I am asking a few in MSN and surprised of answers.
Dinos enough nonsense, stay on topic please. I won GOOC per the rules with you standing next to me :D
Who was the fourth score removed?
My eyes are now open.
If this sort of thing is rampant there is a silver lining:
Fewer people than I thought actually have scores better than mine.
Interesting tho, Youngpro was singled out in comp last year and everyone layed down the ban hammer, shouldn't the same rules apply to others ????
Yep, but facts need to be checked first.
If Hiwa would like to share some info, that would go a long way with us all.
Mate please don't play your GT2 cheat down. I will not stand for it. You did not win within rules in GOOC last year. You used what would be considered a cheat here and everywhere else to get the GT2 boost to win the comp. It is a different sort of issue for sure but it still highlights foul play used to win a contest. I've been told by people how you keep saying how you out tweaked us all in the contest and won on skill. Please cut that crap out!
Ok, then SF3D and Elmor used the exact same "cheat" to win GOOC 2008.
We did the same as them, are you calling them cheaters too? Better to call us "prepared"
proof please
yours was 100% proven to be dodgy against a very handy HWBOT database and further testing after the event had finished
same can be done with their scores if that was the case
What was the cheat? I think everyone here can make a determination...
This really pisses me off.. I spent a :banana::banana::banana: load of cash to compete fairly... Andre selling scores... wow... looks like we can't trust his scores... who knows where his hardware or scores really came from... thats just :banana::banana::banana:ty....
Seriously Andre, you suck... if you did in deed sold your score... I think his win from the HWbot contest should be taken away... and the money should be directed to who really won... what an ass...
If you remember, when we went over rules, I asked to ban access to registry and I that was denied. As for 2008, I kept my mouth shut and moved on, I was very happy with the freestyle win. And if I had lost in 2009 I would have kept my mouth shut and congratulated the winner for pulling off the win per the rules. Even if in 2008, they won per the rules, you dont see them calling foul on us for 2009? Did you see us congratulate and respect the win, yes.
back on topic.
skinnee,
Seriously man.. you should know better... I do give you props for telling the truth.. but what the f@#k... Seriously... Just as I thought the community couldn't get worse... I'm just ashamed to be apart of this crap.... Makes me rethink of why I wanted to be involved... If people like Andre are on top.. what are others doing... real nice.. makes me sick...
start reading from here onwards
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...45#post3842445
there is still not an true explanation from Fugger or Vapor what exactly they did. They had much lower clocks than most competitors, GT2 is NEVER possible to go past GT1 with that system configuration. Basically that score WAS NOT possible unless you used a mipmap or a certain form of that cheat or something similar..........
They gave many explanations just after the comp, the next day and then subsequent days and months following the competition.
Charles is basically just dodging bullets and trying to find some technicality to explain the fact he had to resort to cheating to win a contest. Why has he never come clean about exactly what he did and how he obtained that score. Because he cheated!
I did not cheat, knowledge is not cheating. Had I used a program or switched cpu's to a golden one then that would be bad.
I'll give my opinion.
Lose many hours and money in a country where hardware and technology is very difficult to get, for people making impressive results deceitful and worthless, and worse yet, share ( or sell) it.
The community of overclockers do not need this kind of people.
Furthermore, I believe that light punishments, incentives are up to the cheaters, because they know that the penalty is light.
Only with exemplary punishment, ie, removing cheaters from our community forever, will not appear new cheaters and only honest people will participate in our community.
I know it's hard, but for me, once cheater, always cheater ... and more .... if you cheated and was once discovered, may have cheated many times without anyone knowing.
Buy score = cheat; chance codec = cheat; photoshop = cheat....is all the same...cheat is cheat.
This is my opinion and I know I have this right ... and I say this clearly to everyone because I have never made any such dishonesty and I know I'll never do.
Light punishment = more cheaters in the community
Charles please let's end this discussion forever. Please admit in clear concise language what you did exactly that can be replicated!
Can we stop trashing this thread? The spotlight is on the MOA2010 online qualifier and the individuals who submitted scores that they didn't achieve. I am glad that Cameron came forward and explained this. Now, I'd love to hear what Hiwa has to say for himself. I eagerly look forward to seeing what sort of punishments are awarded
The information cannot be shared, my choice. It's best that way, have some trust in that decision.
Have trust in what???
That I do not share my settings...
Enough guys.
It is not about coming clean, I choose not to share the registry settings.... err I used magic.
Cleanup is needed, Dinos did a great job to derail.
Dino's do you still work for Gigabyte? Why get involved here?
yeah last time i checked my sig I was still working for Gigabyte Australia. :D
can't wait to see the angle you're trying to come up with :D
so msi is awarding msi sponsored individuals participating in an msi event...where everyone is invited?Quote:
Last month ago I recieved the new motherboard from MSI..MSI BIG BANG X58 and going to test and settup under LN2..
whats the prize for buying a board and trying to compete against sponsored individuals?
Mike and Gautam were on a retail board rev 1.1
Lots of parts are sponsored Hondacity, this was brought up before and deemed acceptable as long as it is a retail unmodified sample. It takes know how and resources to get a score of this level done, not just parts in a box = win. My board is a 1.0 with all the bios issues, not fit for any competition.
Good point. total respect to everybody.
I'd like a reply from an msi representative though. They've really done great pushing their Xpower but they gotta somewhat speak with regards to our overclocking community.
As a legitimate competitor in all competitions i have participated, this kind of thing sickens me and really throws into doubt even the global HWBot rankings.
For how long has this disgraceful score sharing been going unchecked, and by whom? It seems Andre (#1 in the world rankings?) and possibly others are involved.
Just read thru this thread and sorry that I did for many reasons.
Skinnee I consider a friend and what I saw was bad judgement pushed by Futuremarks inability to get drivers validated and thats an old issue.
Not defending what he did, just saying I mentally tried putting myself in his position and understand his thinking at the time.
Cam; Coming here and spitting it all out took balls and Thank you for that.
Dinos22:
You also know I consider you a friend but I think this is the wrong place and time for that discussion.
Perhaps with Charles in PM might be more suitable ok?
To this mess in general I come back to money, prizes and presumed glory.
This hobby needs these competitions but they all need to be in settings that are seen by dispassionate judges not submissions done at someones home.
Too much $$ at state and that drives some to cheat.
It hurts the hobby and all of us with it.
I don't know the answers but anything won by cheating isn't a win and has no value at all.
I'd rather come in last and know I gave it my best honest attempt than come in first by cheating.
IMO it happens much more then some people like to believe...anybody who really pays attention to the bot on a daily basis can usually spot this and other discrepancies but there is nothing that can be done without concrete evidence which is dam near impossible most of the time. I mean the league is heavily based on honesty and that only goes so far when competition is involved unfortunately. It is only the very rare instances such as the present one where solid evidence is actually there.....
+1
I'll give my opinion.

Sorry the broken english...i hope you understand me
Wow what a shameful mess...
MSI is aware and I spoke with taiwan for some time today, they will look at the facts over the next few days.
The offenders were removed from the contest this morning.
As Tim pointed out that there is a huge problem of ignoring bad submissions at hwbot even though we all see whats going on.
My heart tells me that the only way you guys who compete can control this is to demand that anyone caught cheating be removed for life from any competition.
That's harsh but what we're talking about is honor here and money and glory be damned.
If the companies that are running these competitions won't comply with that then you guys get together and refuse to enter those competitions.
Then go public and state why you are refusing to enter.
The companies will hear that trust me.
I hear ya Dave
Removed for life....that's a bit harsh though. Surely there are more gentlemanly ways to deal with issues like this. I can understand repeat offenders pulling off the same tricks getting the ban hammer like OPB did but I would not put Andre and whoever else seems to be part of this into the same basket.
I must say.... NOW I understand why benching competitively today is not the same as 2002.
"cheating" in 2002 meant using Win2K or setting priority levels, LOD or running tests out of order...
Today... people are using reg hacks or worse and who knows what...
the fun of benching seems to be gone.
I gave my opinion because I feel deeply affected by this type of attitude.
I have no easily PC parts and conditions as some "cheaters", that have lots of hardware; I have no sponsorship or support (some members here know me and know that I live a simple life); I do OC by passion and a liter of LN2 spent about U$ 6 in Brazil, to have to be passed by someone who cheated.
I understand your way of thinking, but I think differently.
I think the Dodgers should have thought of the punishment before they had done the cheating.
One question...
If no one had discovered the cheat, the cheaters would apologize in public or in their homes would be celebrating your results?
I spent more than i can to get the equipment to participate to LOOC (ES isn t allowed) , and stayed late into the night to be exceeded few minutes before deadline (third in the competition).
While missing a few seconds, I was overtaken by cheating.
Nothing can pay for two days of disappointment I did have
Nothing can afford the effort that a honest competitor with honest results (talking about all honest benchers) and his misfortune of losing their fair result to a cheater
Therefore, I accept the way of people thinking diferent than me.
I think nobody will miss cheaters and if XS and hwbot input a hard and exemplar punishment, never more we will have another case like this.
But this is the way I think
Hard punishment = very few cheaters (or, i hope, no cheaters)
Light punishment = many more cheaters
I think nobody here miss OPB ;)
If HWbot.org wanna do justice and be coherent they will use the same punishment as they did for these guys:
http://hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8223&page=2
Erase all submissions and points plus 1 year ban...
OMG!!! Shameful indeed, luckily my 980X died half way through the competition and that 1 was the limit of my purchasing power, as rbuass said, we are simply passionate about overclocking with no deep pockets, for this type of cheating At the Least Andre shud be banned from XS and hwbot.......he already has wreaked havok in this hobby of ours, we never needed this type of blow further from him........
I'll be even more disgusted if this isn't dealt with accordingly. Big name, small name, no name, this is a bunch MORE smelly arse horsecrap in addition to the other smelly crap thats been going on.
Respect for the ownership of your mis-judgement skinee.
Hi eveyone
Well, i wanted to wait andre post here for first or answer my pm on msn
but couldn't keep it,during the computex this year i heard ppl have some discusion about me, anything started in there with UNFAIR group results, bench with friends hardware, i lost myself in there, i was in top10 and i touched top5 in aprile with my hardware and cpus.
i checked XS last week and i see futuremark make this contest, bought the board and killed it, it was all to kill first place score witch i couldn't see and let it stay in top. i really couldn't go for MOA it was just to kill that score, then andre shared it with me on my request, but why you shared it with other 4 or 5 ?
I am going to delete all my GROUP scores and ES(the first must be delete) , UNFAIR results from hwbot
i'll go to top20 maybe but who care, i'll back a day and start again bench like a real overclocker.
that's all guys
hiwa that was very poor judgment on your part and i hope you will learn form your mistake and never repeat it again. Thanks for setting the record straight
no he isn't i never said he is bad GHZ, he make score for me, but he shared with other 3 persons with no reason. it's very strange to me :( sorry for my english i didn't want say that.
i am not angry with andre, it was my fault not andre he gave me result on my request.
i edited my old post it wasn't what i wanted to say
hiwa, did you and andre work on that result together at computex as a team? or did he make the result and just give it to you?
Thanks for letting us know the source of the scores
I doubt we will hear from Afrotweaker and Xfastest is the fourth one removed.
what a shame, best of the best goneee
who is best of the best that you say is gone?
Hey guys,
as i heared from this competiton my friend (and team mate) sent me his XPower and i bought a retail chip (3005F) to compete...
...but before i had a result this chip died.
So i benched with my Q3QP (a good chip but not as good as the retail) and got some good score's - i did not know the first time that ES Chip not allowed cause in hwbot it is no problem. After i realized it i asked my friend to send me a new retail but there was no time to do it...
I spent a lot of time in benching but all my scores seems useless for this competition and i tought i will upload scores with Q3QP but then i talked with Andre and he said he can help me...
I know it is not ok and it is only my fault!
It is not ok that all people here more against Andre than against us. He benched his own hardware and he also did not compete in this event. So i think the main fault is 100% on our side. What he did is not fair but as i said the main fault is on our side...
I did not upload this score to hwbot - also i did not upload any score from Computex to hwbot - all my/our scores in hwbot done with my hardware...
Thanks for the update, I looked at your other account email and saw that login has never been used.
Wow, it gets better and better, I guess its so very much easier as well, I will stop buying hardware and LN2, and instead put that money to buy scores and ss, its so very exciting as well to buy the scores and I cant imagine the proud moment when the winners are declared.....
WTF LOL
so, a man sell you a great score to submit and maybe win and is only your fault? ROFL
a polite and honest man maybe just hang up the phone after listening to your (and all the others) request.
so you who buy scores are all cheaters as much as who sell them to you.
@hiwa: LOL do you think "well i've made a mistake, i'm going to delete all my submission and restart honestly" could be enough? EPIC FAIL
i don't consider hwbot a circus...but maybe if nobody will be punished after this i could change my idea...
Dont you guys feel ashamed ?, wheres its the honor in cheating? , WTH its happening to our community? Why this very talented overclockers do this ? Money , e-penis , Grief , the need to be recognize ? Skinee , Hiwa, why ?. i used to look at you guys with so much respect , but even that its all gone now :( , you guys lost more than you ever could win back by doing the unthinkable. Shame on you guys
We wanted to use this as a team account but did not...
Also my team mates have nothing to do with this and cause of this fact (and that it is not my score) this score (and the one's from Computex) are not @hwbot.
My bad feelings was not that big cause i kicked with this score somebody out who also is not a fair player...
...i will not say with this that it is ok (it is 100% not ok) - i will only say why my bad feelings not that big as they could be...
ohh yess and you can contract a top overclocker for competing against other in a competition and just put in his face a mask of you, so you can win in Real Life too.
Crap!! Guys i dont know what happen this days with OC this kind of actions makes the starting people stop OCing, and after this hobbie will die because the manufacurers/entusiast will not invest on OC events.
Good job Andre and the rest.
Great job, what an as$hat
In my case (and i can only speak for me) it is my fault!
He helped me cause he knowed that i worked hard for this competition and cause he knowed that i want come back Taipei to see someone...
So what do you think is his profite???
Again, it is not ok but i can not see that Andre could gain anything from doing this..
And i think i said why my bad feelings not that big.
Wow, interesting things I see here. Waiting official results. I hope my friends cyclone and Tolsty will go to Taiwan.
we had enough hardware to bench sometimes we use his chip sometimes mine
a lot of boards there, but we should never post the results caz ppl weren't happy on that.
andre didn't get one CENT on LOC, he never sold the scores to me or other ppl
as i told before he gave me score on MY REQUEST.
Andre tried to help us
sorry Tim you think i am suck clocker? maybe you are right maybe i no have any good score in my book, no i am not at your level for sure, i make a mistake and i'll ban and they punish me for sure.
please forget Computex story, i just wanted to say i changed my personality after that. i hated who cheat and who fake that why i did this mistake.
While it's your mistake too guys, it's a big one on Andre too.
He knew the consequences in every aspect of this hobby his actions have.
Funny thing is, 4 people knocked on his door... random ? maybe. Perhaps he has been doing that all the time, and it just became obvious.
HWbot ban should be lifetime ( at least for him, about the receiving parties, I'd cut you guys some slack and agree to a 1 year ban ).
Come on Andre, show yourself.
Are you proud of this ?
Maybe not, you're very proud of yourself and the 7GHz pi32m E.S.
Even tho i did not score high enough to get an entry to MOA i have pulled my result to show i do not support this comp and what has happened !!!
In reading some of the tales from the guilty parties, it seems to me that Andre has willingly offered to help people to cheat.
I think of the situation as being like a drug deal, both parties are guilty but guess who should cop the bigger jail time
No, the OC Comunity dont fail, only some that thinks the easy way to win is more worthy than put effort on improve score!
It's a problem of individuals. Looking at the responses here, I can see many upright overclockers. MSI and especially Futuremark did absolutely great this time. Took actions accordingly and in the best interest of the community.
They should know better though, because they do support Andre in every way ( from samples to... more things I don't want to disclose before I get every single detail out ).
