Yea they will be expensive, but just make them as an enthusiast item. People expecting it to be cheaper with the barbs then a compression fitting aren't being realistic, that just wont happen, each clamp will most likely be the cost of a compression fitting.

evil-98 1 thing to note, you mentioned wanting to use Stainless screws, but the only screws that really come in black are steel ones with a Black Oxide coating, aside from custom ones which I doubt you were looking to do :P

One thing you may be interested in from all the prototypes we machined. The depth you have for threads will likely strip out the first tightening if your planning on aluminum like 6061. It requires about 3/16 inch of thread area if you want to be able to apply even medium pressure. Thats why I went with the full span threading on ours.

Yes, compression fittings can be made with just a lathe. Those clamps cannot be made with a lathe, only with a mill so it will cost a lot more. The cheapest option would be casting but tooling costs will be prohibitive for sure. However, I do believe making a batch of 5000 clamps would make it a bit reasonable.Quote:

Those clamps can be made from extruded Aluminum and a llathe and drill press. You just have to make soft clamps for the lathe to hold the extrusion blanks a couple of shaping tools, a part off tool , set up a jig in drill press(or mill if you have one) drill, tap and counter bore. easy.............. then send out for painting-plating.
Ah, forgot about extruded bars, that indeed solve the problem. I think it's not a big problem to create a matrice with the proper shape and not too expensive.
I agree that these would sell like hotcakes, if they were available for cheap, but I'm sure there would still be a considerable market for them, even if they're quite expensive. It's not like people who water-cool their computers don't ever spend unreasonable amounts of money on stuff they don't really need... :-)

Just a quick question, are you making the ID of these just slighty bigger then the OD of the tube, or are you measuring the OD of the Tube after it has been pushed over a barb, as that will be slightly bigger.
actually no the ID is smaller then the OD of the tube, i have measured 3/4" tube over bitspower, ek, dtek, swiftech, and DD fittings, all vary by sizes. the reason behind the ID being smaller is so the clamp will also be forced to seal. so your dont have to tighten it much because of the inner lip should create a nice seal against the fittings ODQuote:
