Niceee Leeghoofd!!
waiting for more tests of over!
Is this good enough? :)
@ BigJoe
can you tell me you mem settings?
i have some trouble with my P5Q Dlx (Bios 0506) and the 1:1 divider!
it boot only with 5:6 divider :(
Or can you send me Bios 0302?
I'd love to see how this board performs with 45nm quads.

Send me PM with your mail
Nice results Big joe!
how i use CPU GTL voltage reference?
0.630x is default for all REF voltage @ ASUS MoBo ;)
and max FSB with dual 45nm? :D:D
What's is the function of pci express sata voltage?
@ BigJoe
thx for Bios 0302, but it wont help :(
my P5Q Dlx wont run with divider 1:1
Can you send me you Bios mem settings?
Thanks

BigJoe I'm currently testing ram bandwith, but geting very poor results here ( not even matching my P5K dlx )... Lowest power level I can select is 9 otherwise no post at 400FSB, for 450FSB limited to 10, Ram at moderate, Ram in Sync at 5-5-5-15 2T (2 x 2 Gb dimms)

RAM speed and divider in the P5Q? Also, the P5K is at the same perf level?
I do not have time to test and reboot now, but i will test and photo my settings tommorow ;)
I got one SS for you now ;)

Thx for the quick test.
How about VCore? Big fluctuations when under load?
Where did you get yours?
I won't test Loadline calibration Jupiler, bit scared of bad spikes with the Qx... (cost me too much) might test it with one of the E8XX's...
But here's a quick run at 3.6Ghz and loadline on auto too but that is the same as disabled...

Hehehe P5Q3 Dlx mate it's the DDR3 version... will have to give the E8500 a go then tomorrow to see if it's the same ordeal here...
And for BigJoe's SS mine can do it too :)

Nice Quad FSB, what about that perf level problem?
Any info on availabilty in the states. Now that I see 500FSB on 45nm quad my opinion is completely revearsed.
It's at newegg $209
More cheap than i expected...but later will be more cheap, and it's the first mobos, They are the first revisions yet, they can come with some bugs etc...
I'll wait a while..maximus 2 formula it's much expensive in the release..
In the beginning, the x38 and x48 seemed to be the best chipset, with best mobos. But those who had memories crucial and thought the x38 mobos its the best and bought the x38 did not do a good business, because the crucial announced the incompatibility of your memorys with x38 and x48. This is just one example of the problems that are likely to occur!

Is there any "Real" advantage ... in terms of OC'ing/Performance that P45 has over the P35?
I just got my ASUS P5K-E/Wifi-AP (p35) and i'm having some problems with it. I might end up RMA'ing it back to the 'egg ... and I'm considering getting this one. There's 4 versions of P5Q (P45) at ZipZoomFly ... varying costs ... not sure which one is better.
I'll be running Q9450 in it.
ok, i think this board dont like my Corsair Dominator PC2-8500 (cant boot 500FSB with 1:1 divider!).
now i tried with a 512MB PC2-6400 Ballistix stick and i can boot 520FSB with ~1.3v NB voltage...

Glad you got it going somehow mate...and you are not the only one with issues with these sticks (on many more mobo's) Did you try TB disabled and setting power level yourself ? which Strap did you use ?
A screenie, I could prime my Qx9650@3600 with the P5K dlx with LLC enabled at 1.135 (Small FFT's), with the P5Q Dlx I can do it at 1.120 without LLC (1.2Vcore set in bios, drops to 1.17 in windows) So the new PWM design seems to be very worth it...
http://users.pandora.be/OAP/P5QDlx/P5Q3600.JPG
retail p5q deluxe comes with 0506 bios
this board is plagued with ram computability issues
so far..
team xtreem PC2-6400 Cl3s 4x1gb... 3 sticks work one stick no boot
crucial PC2-6400 2x2gb.. only can run in single channel..
both rams are working fine on LT X48's
tested, retested..
Oh man when does this end, using customers as beta testers :(
Look some problems showing.
that is what I was talking about.
And I also do not agree on the point, which is a crucial memories of low quality. The only problem was with the last batch of memories, with a quality that are horrible!
Soz but if 3 out of 4 sticks work and one doesn't think problem is more with that dimm then... for the Crucials no idea why....
I tried Mushkin PC8000 4gb kit and now working on Gskill PC8000 Kit at 1066Mhz 5-5-5-15 1.94volt... will try the Gskill PC8000 4-4-4-5 next week and see if 1200mhz is okay...
This board requires again a total different setup coming from P35 or X38 to get there...
And a new bios is in the making, I had some issues with 400FSB/1000mhz ram 0604 Alpha seemed to fixed it...
Did some testing at 400FSB (425 and 450 will come later) to see how the performance levels are set by bios and how low manual it worked
400FSB and Ram at 800Mhz -- Bios sets 13 perf level at AUTO setting -- Lowest manual is 9 (8 doesn't post)
400FSB and Ram at 1003Mhz -- Bios sets 10 perf level at AUTO setting -- Lowest manual is 7
400FSB and Ram at 1066Mhz -- Bios sets 9 perf level at AUTO setting -- Lowest manual is 7
Here are the screenshots; CPU at 3200mhz, Ram at 5-5-5-15 (TRFC 55)

Think we still need some more work there Asus engineers to get the board up to speed...
EDIT :
450FSB and Ram at 900Mhz -- Bios sets 13 perf level at AUTO setting -- Lowest manual is 10
450FSB and Ram at 1081Mhz -- Bios sets 10 perf level at AUTO setting -- Lowest manual is 8

Is there any difference in bios between P5Q-E and Dlx? Is it possible to flash dlx bios into P5Q-E?
thanks
Ordered P5Q-D today, should be here by Tuesday.
Leeghoofd, you hit a PL7 @ 1066MHz on a 400FSB with what RAM configuration, 4x1GB or 2x2GB, and what brand were you using?
I've got a whole mess of DDR2 to work with:
4x1GB Cellshock PC8500 D9GMH
4x1GB Mushkin PC8500 D9GMH
4x1GB Patriot PC8500 D9GKX
2x2GB OCZ FlexII PC9200 Powerchips
Which RAM does this board prefer, D9GMH, D9GKX, or powerchips?
I'd prefer to use 4x1GB since I can pull tighter timmings with 4 sticks over the 2x2 configuration and I'd like to use the Cellshocks since they seem to clock higher.
Is their a Beta BIOS available from their FTP site or is the 0506 the latest BIOS?
Thanks....
Edit
Will I need to do a format? I'm currently on my Maximus Formula x38 using the latest drivers from station drivers, 8.2.0.1001 which includes the ICH10.
I'm on these at the moment :
http://users.pandora.be/OAP/P5QDlx/P5QDlx%20004.jpg
4Gb ( 2 x 2 ) Mushkin PC8000 Redline 5-5-5-15, think they are powerchips as they require almost no volts to run at stock or even 1066Mhz (1.92ish level)
I don't have my 2gb Gskill kit here but will test those next week, they did 1200mhz 5-5-5-15 on the P5K and 780i...
My Gskill 4Gb PC8000PQ kit needs more volts to do the same... really looking forward to the OCZ test as running 1200mhz with 4Gb is a dream come true...
For the format I could go straight from my P5K Dlx to this one with just deinstalling my LAN drivers... worked fine... now I freshly installed WinXP64 and got that EPU thingy also installed but like BigJoe mentioned no settings possible when running OC'ed...
There's an Alpha bios around 0604, no beta yet...
Don't expect miracles from P45 coming from ya X48 DFI board mate. I think the latter is one of the fastest around if you can master the settings, which I can't lol
For me current Bios P5Q is already toooooo much
No, not looking for miracles. Just 400-420FSB / 1066-1125MHz (400 STRAP) 5-4-4-12 PL7 w/ 9-9.5 multiplier. I have given up on achieving CAS4 on x38/x48 boards. I've ssen others do it but I haven't been able to get there as of yet.
I had problems with my DFI x48. I couldn't get my Flex II's off the 266/667 strap so I was stuck @ 1003MHz 5-5-3-12. No matter what I did, zilch. I also couldn't get any of my 4x1GB kits to work either, error'd in Memtest right from the start even though they all tested fine individually in all 4 slots.
So, I'm just looking for a trouble free experience so I can game for a few months before Nehalem comes, then I will play somemore.
Thanks....

Nice, I'm really liking the BIOS options this time around. It's good to see the clk skew options, Pull-ins, and GTL's that should help acheive a decent FSB and RAM clock. With your CPU PLL set at 1.5V what does your BIOS report? On my Formula x38 it over-volted to 1.61V. I really hope this is not the case this time around.
This might be a fun little tweaker board afterall.
No HW monitoring at P5Q Dlx for all voltages :(
Just +3.3 +5 +12 and vCore...
I think no overvolting or undervolting on this board, based on vCore expirience ;)
Yep like with P5K Dlx if Premium board has these readings I might step up to that one
http://users.pandora.be/OAP/P5QDlx/P5QDlx%20012.jpg
Grab the manuals and find out, and really these crap phases made me buy this board and till now it has proven pretty stable on voltages... better than my P5K Dlx for sure...
EDIT : I grabbed P5Q-E manual and ram and voltage settings look the same... so you might be a pretty happy camper then....

What PL are you guys using for 450FSB and CAS5 2x2GB modules?
With the Quad and 2 x 2 Mushkin ram here :
450FSB /900Mhz ram PL 10 was the lowest I could set (bios gives 13 at auto)
450FSB /1081Mhz ram PL8 (bios 10 auto)
Make sure you set TRFC to 55....
See post 149 for screenies...
Any rumors on this board NOT working with crucial ballistix (single sided)? I'm looking to upgrade from my p5k vanilla, and I might get new ram, but it would be nice if I can work with these at least at first...
Good info here guys :) , has any one tried ballistics 8500 2x 1 GB and E8400 max FSB ? My board will be here next week.
I sold my mobo yesterday, and now I only look forward to more tests to take this wonderful mobo..
The problem is: it is not yet sold in Brazil and when it will be available It will be very, very expensive!
Have a P5Q Deluxe on the way for a new system. Not sure what memory to go with. Any suggestions??
Will be using a X3320 (9300) for now that I have on hand. I know it has a low multi (7.5) so will need to run high FSB to get to decent clock. Nice low power consumption tho for quad :)
Also, I am thinking of keeping it on air for now and ordering Xigmatek 1263 if that will fit...
Thanks,
hope to contribute down the road to this thread!

595FSB on P35 chipset :)
Regards
Chris
One of the reasons I stressed this with current alpha bios things are way better, but still needs some tweaking to get up to P35/X38 level...
Overall stability is amasing out of the box...PWM voltage regulation too and the board seems build to last... hope we've got a winner here !!!

Why?
I'm scared BigJoe : of spikes exceeding the specs of Intel... I wouldn't mind using it on the E8400/E8500 but not on the superexpensive QX9650... till some specialist can tell me there are no more spikes...
For 3.6Ghz I set 1.2 to get 1.18 under idle and 1.13 under load, for 4ghz I need 1.325 to get 1.26 under load without loadline calib...

Somebody willing to share the 0604 Alpha Bios for the P5Q Deluxe ? :bday2:
Alpha Bios are not shared mate, untill full testing is done and they enter Beta stage... you can damage ya board testing one of these... one of the reasons they are not distributed just like that...
I got the 0302 and 0506 bios on the FTP :
http://users.pandora.be/OAP/P5QDlx/P...ELUXE-0302.rar
http://users.pandora.be/OAP/P5QDlx/P...ELUXE-0506.rar
I'm interested in seeing how C1 9450s and 9550s will do with this board...
Right now its
P5K-VM HDMI vs P5Q.
Buy at least decent PC8000 Ram, think you will have to settle for a 450-475ish FSB 24/7... this way you are sure the ram won't limit ya OC...
I can recommend Gskill PC8000PQ 4gb and Mushkin Redline PC8000 4Gb kit... both work fab on this Mobo... and even OC to 1066/1081Mhz just like that...
In the long run P5Q Dlx will be the better board for sure... better PWM and better component choice... It took my Qx for a first time to 500FSB Suicide shot and even 485FSB prime stable...
@Leeghoofd
I got memory issues with my 4GB Geil Esoteria Rev.1
And i read the 0604 solves some of them. Thats why i am asking for it.
It wont be spread/uploaded just be used to solve the darn memory prob i got.
So if sb could send it to ironage@email.de it would be appreciated very much.
(I wouldnt post my email adress if it wasnt important)
Can mods tell why he changed topic name, thanks ;)
What was changed then? I didn't change anything, but the title sounds good to me.
Wouldn't it be better to have it called "the Official P5Q Dlx thread" sponsored by Jupiler and Duvel
Ordered Board Friday, Should be here Tuesday evening (As tracking on FedEx).
Anyone tried the Q9450 with this board? I'll be interested in BIOS settings to OC the Q9450. I'm coming from a P5W DH/E6420 setup and the BIOS seems to have changed a lot!!
@ Lee : Will your QX9650 settings work with my Q9450 for OC'ing
I'll be installing OCZ Platinum Edition PC2-8000 1000MHz DDR2 4GB (2X2GB) Dual Channel Kit.
Thanks!
OK, can you rename topic to ASUS P5Q Delexe discussion?
I vote for one thread per board too, so this one ASUS P5Q Deluxe only
Leeghoofd,
much thanks for the recommendation... I will probably pick one of those 2 pairs up- guess I will go with the GSkill for now as they are a bit more affordable.
I like that suggestion, it would make things less confusing and more on topic as different variations of this board are released.
Leeghoofd, can you stay on top of the Beta BIOS situation for us--at least for as long as you can--since it seems you have an inside view of things?
what would be the better choice the DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) or the DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) in 4GB (2 x 2GB) config?
:rofl::rofl: I'm thinking of crossing the road to see if you Intel guys are all that :ROTF: hoping in a week or two everyone has this board figured out So I can see if I can force a Phenom in the 775 socket a few extra pins should'nt hurt, if not ill have to try one of those funny looking E8400 Wolfdale things :yepp: thanks for the reply guys the boards looking better each day. kind of been waiting to see the new ATI GPUs cant give intel all my green.
There are no 2x2GB kits using D9GMH. They all use Powerchips with some exceptions, like the Crucial Ballistix Tracer Red DDR2-800 kit.
This is looking very good to me.
But i have a couple questions on this mobo...
What is max user defined tRFC in the bios?
Leeghoofd, you are showing 55, that's set from bios, right?
How much higher does it go?
And tRD aka Performance Level, any chance you can tell me what the lowest is for 350 MHz FSB?
tRD 7 @ 400 MHz isn't bad, but i have 10x multi...more interested in tRD at lower FSBs like ~350 (i can do tRD 5 on this DFI).
Also, Leeghoofd, i'd love to know if you can pass HCI Memtest (four instances to use all 8 GB) with all 8 GB.
This DFI is garbage for tweaking 8 GB.
Only ratio i can run stably is 2:3...anything else craps out with 8 GB.
Thanx muchly.
Nasgul, all im seeing is the G.Skill or Muskin 1gb sticks with the D9GMH chips unless im missing something on the list in either (PC 8000 ) or the (PC 8500) looks like the 2x2mb kits are D9GKX any difference in them? http://ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2/
EDIT: I think if found the answer
D9GMH : 333MHz C5 1.8V Micron certified
D9GKX : 400MHz C5 1.8V Micron certified : its looking like D9GKX are better for high frequency with lower timings
And back to the Board... anyone got the E8400 over 500 stable yet?
AMD Freak and Nasgul,
Correct me if I'm wrong but I have heard that the GSkill 8000 is not D9 Micron but Power Chips- not sure about the 8500 tho.
