this e7200 is making me wish i had a e8500 atm. superpi really could use that extra 3mb of cache. 9x500 only nets me around 11.2 seconds *untweaked*

hey guys, just got my e7200 and ive some heat issues
when i set the vcore to 1,4 , the bios says 51° idle ! and orthos goes above 75°.
i have a TRUE and even my Q6600 at 1,6v wont run that hot. i remounted the TRUE already but it didnt make any changes.
any suggestions ?

That's not VID mate, VID can only be read out by CPU-Z, Real Temp and coretemp...so you need to install the CPU

In Core Temp 0.99 my 52c till TJ max Right now in pc wizard my cpu temp is 33c but the cores are reading at 53c /shrug shoulders.

Tried to run OCCT the proc got too hot and the program quit. It may have gotten up to like 70. Im gonna try gaming on it while keeping an eye on the temp, and see what happens.
You can alter OCCT in the settings menu and set that too eg 80°C, it takes into account TJcasemax 105 while most peeps assume it's 95°C... so it's temp readings are 10°C off...

I can not get 3.8 stable. I can get 3.6 stable with a max temp of 69c. But 3.8 I cant get stable orthos fails within 8 seconds.

Well im getting the cooler from my boy for 10 bucks so its worth a try. I may just ask him to try it for awhile and if I get it to 4.0ghz then pay him lol. What would you suggest for a cooler for that high of a clock.

Is it sad that Im not thinking I dont want to change cpu heatsinks because the freezer isnt blue??? My current heatsink has a pretty blue fan on it.

Yes I do feel its worth it. Vista is a lot snappier and I bet once I get 4 gigs total ram it will be even more snappier. My game are for sure a lot smoother than before. I attribute that mostly to the little extra cache and the clock speed.Quote:

I do not regret it because my budget cant afford it, plus the performance difference to me didnt warrant the extra $70 bucks. The difference in performance isnt much maybe 5%.
Also it prolly will work as long as the board supports 45nm procs.

Use my brothers p5b-e which supports 45nm, even 1333fsb (my ds3 supports 1066mhz).
I get the cpu soon, should i use it or send it back and get a e8400 instead?

btw. i hate asus overclocking menus... i have to change between like 5 tabs to just change a bit mhz and voltage.

Most reliable source of picking up a good cpu is the FPO batch nr... VID's help too but there's no REAL golden rule here. Print out my List and go with that too the shop or look around on the web and see if they have sortlike batches available...

Dark, what type of cooling are you on? also the tjmax is wrong on coretemp. the temp is really around 43c so it seems about right.
