 Due to the chipset? X48 is a further step from X38, and I'm running up to 550 FSB with WOLFDALE on X38......... - so where is the improvement in developing X48........

We all like "it" tight
Massman is right here. This motherboard is tuned for quad core and really tight mem and chipset latencies.
It is really easy to run this board at 266 strap and PL5 (6-6-5-14 / 7-6-5-14 / 7-6-6-15).
I will test Wolfdale (E8500) today. Yesterday I found time to throw it in and test it 10 minutes. 500fsb was just fine.
Blackops is a board with optimal performance per clock, maybe not the best clocking for the fsb hungry Wolfdales, for that task I think the Foxconn Dreadnought will be a better choice.

Here is the overclocking and HW monitoring tool for BlackOPS.
It's called Aegis Panel
It is working in real time, so no need to restart or anything stupid, like in some similar programs.

Question, I am confused as to what Remcokatz said about this board not being very good with graphics cards.
I have never heard of this before, but is there some issue with this board as far as gaming goes? While I am an enthusiast overclocker, this board will work just fine for gaming, am I right in that assumption?
I have had no issues with it with 2 cards in Crossfire. I tried 3 cards in CrossfireX but one of my cards was bad (not fault to board).
As for the guys :banana::banana::banana::banana:ing back and forth take it to PMs and emails. This is ridiculous. Not needed here learn some manners.
Those vga issues were present in early bios versions. Now they have fixed those issues.
Here is one screenshot. This retail board is better with memory than my previous ES.
Now I can use 6-5-5-14 1T timings up to 900MHz. This is not 32M stable but 3D is ok ;) Strap is 333. Next i do some 266 and PL5 tests.

Sweet update sf3d... looks quite good indeed.
Really want to play with it :)...
Here is basic watercooled 3DMark06 CPU test. This is what everybody can do with quad core cpu.

Efficiency is quite good.
More Xtreme results tomorrow hopefully.
Hey, this is thé board if you want to kill your memory apparently. Foxconn didn't want to give the user the option for 4,5v on the memory though.
Sham, if you're reading this: what's up with the other memory dividers that are hidden in the bios? Are they not working stable enough?

when will this m/b be availible to buy? on the foxconn website they have offcial released it about a month ago, where is it? anyone know a date?
okay sorted, its on ocuk website and you can pre order for 26/05/08 (the week i get paid :D) for £293 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...atid=5&subcat=
Now This Makes me Jump on my Sofa :P
No seriously The Excitement Just Increased =]
Bios G20 is a MUST.....I haven't seen my CellShock Rams doing 2000MHz with Cas 7-6-5-15-1T since......I got them..... ;)
They have been damaged a bit since then and on any mobo they did with the above timmings ~ 1950MHz.....Now I BOOT at 500MHz FSB with a "crappy" E8400 and Rams at 2000MHz and get into windows..... :p:
ALSO with bios G20 I gained ~ 15 - 20MHz MORE on a QUAD (445MHz fsb from 427MHz before) with rams working at 1:4 266 AND Cas 7-5-5-5-13-6-43-5-13-14-2-8-2-2-1T..... Bandwidth is EXELANT..... :D
I've never head the sound quality that comes out of those bundled PCI-E x1 Sounds cards. They any good, compared to a X-Fi Fatal1ty perhaps?
Very nice results on 3DMark also.
After they got damaged with 2.43Vdimm, I have NEVER feed them again over 2.32Vdimm.....They used to do 7-6-5-15-1T and tight subtimings up to 2070MHz when they were young…. :(
My day/bench usage is 2.28Vdimm and in rare occasions I feed them 2.32Volts MAX....
off topic: would you mind guys telling me why many of you seem to favor CellShock ram? Anything special? That's a serious question, I'm interested, and never heard of Cellshock before I registered to this forum. thanks.
I tried some LN2 clocking on friday (10h only). That wasn't my day at all, cause I couldn't get good contact between pot and cpu  I was too tired maybe.
CPU did only 5.64GHz and I have try again as soon as possible.
Motherboard worked really well, but I couldn't get PL5 and strap 266 working like I wanted, so I tested with strap 333 and PL6.
Here is the 06:

Here is 03:

I hope you like it
whats taking so long @ available?
oh come on!!

Nice efficiency in 06 cpu test sf3d
I just started playing with BlackOps today, but cannot get CPU-Z to correctly detect the multiplier on QX9770.
Is there a known bug or a simple fix?
It always shows max multi of 8x in CPU-Z, even when set to 9x or higher in BIOS.
What bios do you have ?
:yepp::yepp::yepp::yepp::yepp::yepp:
George, listen to this guy! I like him, I like him ALOT !!! =)
Please dont write the DDR-rate as the frequency
SF3D:
Memory killing part, its harder then tweaking!!! Memory can easily die if you vacume them or such :p.
But from torture in PC, its VERY hard to kill them!
You filthy guys....... :D
Just let the "young man" dreaming...... :D :p:
Using G20 and have set both native mode and frequency unlimited on XP.
Still getting CPU-Z problems.
Tim I had problems with CPUz this Saturday as well ( on the Striker II Extreme though ).
It couldn't detect the CPU Multiplier properly ( using the latest CPU-z version, 1.45 that is )
It seems to be EIST related.
When i have the system set to 9x multi and the following CPU settings, i get low power mode with low vcore and low multi. Once i load the CPU it shoots up to 9x and the voltage increases.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v310/T_M/Native.jpg
When i dissable the CPU EIST, i get 8x multi and the CPU-Z vcore still reads low, but real DMM is correct.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3.../Dissabled.jpg
Weird.
Try downloading CrystalCPUID and then use enhanced intel speedstep option in that program. Select multi 10x in bios and when you are in windows, select it (10x) from CCPUID and see what happens. If nothing, I'm out of answers
OK, with EIST = Native, setting to 9x in CrystalCPUID causes instant system hang (too low volts i suspect due to power saving)
With EIST = Dissabled, setting to 9x gives perfect results and CPU-Z now reflects the same.
Peter, this is the same problem as with that Dreadnought BIOS we were using i suspect :s
Sweet speed on u ddr3 George, good to see the board flying with high ddr3 speed...
Does this board clocks better then Asus Striker II 790i Ultra? As its even more expensive then Asus SIIE in Norway
Has anyone tried dice/ln2 on NB?
Ok guys, how do you think about this ?:D
Not that bad for single 9800GX2 @ ln2 and cpu @ cascade, huh ?:p:

Thanks o much for the details and review and benchies...this might surplant my ST...
It will be interesting to see how this board compares to the upcoming board from the highly regarding DFI, when it comes to overclocking. I will be waiting eagerly for more reviews on this and the dfi x48-t3r.
BlackOps in stock @ newegg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186144
$360?! lower than I was expecting, 4 sure.
It's about $370 with cheapest shipping. Zip Zoom Fly has had a not in stock listing at $399 for what seems like weeks now.
I am mulling over whether I should pitch my 790i to the fishes and get this instead. The new DDR3 DFI looks good, the P5E3 WS Evolution looks good, what am I supposed to do?
Thanks just put in my order.:D
Im really stuggling trying to run a dual core at any decent FSB :(
No matter what ive tried, i cant get past about 490fsb to even load windows!
just ordered mine, :woot: I am very excited
now i am waiting for the 790i Blackops
Great Board.
Ordered :)
im so tempted by the blackops...
hey guys what is the best bios for dual core cpus... im fitting the fsb wall at 565fsb with my blackops.. this chip can do atleast 593fsb with my dfi p35 ut t2r board ?
Any idea on the release of the 790i Dreadnought :woot:
This motherboard looks sweet, i've been looking for a new one to buy and I think this will probably be the one.
does it support DDR3 1600 in all 4 slots?
Between this and Dreadnought, there should be a good selection to choose from this summer
Maybe this week I'll receive mine finally:)
Can't wait to try it:D
Ive got a question about the soundcard that comes with this motherboard,is it on par with the Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 Sound Card ?
If it is then i can sell my card on as i use my pc for gaming most of the time i need a good soundcard.
If want to try tight timings download this beta bios
Awdflash xxx.bin /wb
CL6-6-6-15-1t-perl5
Any links for the RETAIL BIOS like G20 etc.. I can not seem to find it on Foxconn site? Need the best BIOS working so far with the QX9650
Thanks....
Using G20 and finding i cant get CL6 to work at all, even though the same RAM loves CL6 on Giga board.
WIll give G17 a shot to see if it helps, thanks Pete
1. Can someone LINK me a BIOS update for the RETAIL version board!! I cannot find it on there site or online as well. Looking for the newest one out? I think it may be the G20? Just got my board wanting to go to the newest BIOS...
2. Did anyone take off North & South bridge to reapply thermal compound in replace of the stock compound?
Thanks
I would much prefer to be running CL6 at 440 x 13 than CL7
NO differences between CL6 and CL7..... ;)
17.BIN Beta is the fastest bios out there combined with JNL or GTR Ram chips PLUS it "boots easy"..... ;)
TIP: Bench with CL6 and some other mobo and see (prefaired winRar bench) in WinXP with 4 x cores......Then bench with BlackOps with CL7 and tight subtimings with LOWER FSB and see again.....
Also try the same with 2k1 benchie..... :)
The best and easiest so far is the G21 bios....A bit more FSB with the QUADS and a bit slower than 17 beta.... ;)
Not the same. G21 bios will have 7A3F1G21 or something similar
^^ yupp Sir you got that one right :)
Have seen same thing with MARS and now its BlackOps time for me too :D
Ordered one myself just got to sort out some ram for it,any ideas for a 2x1gb set?
IS it possible to get 500fsb stable with a q9450 on this board, im thinking of switching out my 790i for this......is it worth it???? i dont need sli so i wanna get back on the intel side.
Anyone from Foxconn want to comment on why the retail boards have aluminum tops on the Quantum Cooler ?
Anyone with any watercooling knowledge knows that mixing aluminum with copper is a bad idea.
Can some one link me a BETA G20 or G21 BIOS please.... :)
Here is where I got that impression:
How sad...?
Still clueless?
Sorry my fault. You guys just do the promotion, not the support.
I brought the Blackops because members of the Quantum Force team that had the board for testing posted great reviews and acheved nice overclocks with it, and I had a :banana::banana::banana:ty time with the Asus Striker II Extreme.
I thought that the Foxconn X48 seems to be getting great feedbacks and that there are many Quantum Force members here in xtremesystems forum, and we can fall back on them for support, since they have great contact with Foxconn, unlike ASUS, where we are pretty much on our own.
Now with the board in hand, and we found we are not getting what was advertised and paid very much for. The Quantum Force members are nowhere to be seen, and if they do appear, they avoid what they don't want to answer.
Why should I now buy Foxconn over ASUS now that the biggest reason I switched was not the reality? Asus seem to have a much greater customer base, and users help each other out.
Is this what we should look forward to with up coming Foxconn-QuantomForce products?
Can try setting GTL Ref 1 lower than the rest as intel specs it to be higher but it seems to like being equal to the rest
For example +10,+5,+10,+10, or default,-5,default,default, Elmor found this to be better as did I.
