w00t! thanks!
yeah, i just got home from having a St. Paddy's meal at a couple's house whom i am very close with. Yum! When I got home i was expecting to have a good day, and was looking around the 200,000 mark. couldn't find myself. finally, i looked under my name instead of the scores and saw it.
I had a machine that hadn't connected in close to 5 days. so once i started to look at individual machines, i found it. was like 130 WUs ready to go on it.
on the downer side, i also have a 3.06 DX, @ 3.27 that looks like it is down and out for some reason, to be determined... :( ( as well as an e6400 rig that has been out for months, now... :( )
swinging back to the upside. my best friend's ( and his wife's ) house is where i had my corned beef, cabbage, etc ( including Irish soda bread ).
while there, tonight, i saw the rig that my friend has finally accepted, as a loaner ( indefinite ) by me. it is a q6600 in an antec 900. it runs at 3600. only problem is, it is not running and hasn' been for at least four or five days, since he brought it home. my buddy has been dragging his feet getting his burner and storage hdd out of his current rig and into the quad rig. itisn't even plugged in!
i saw that and said "what up wid dat?!?"
so tomorrow i'm going back over there, and we are going to get his stuff in there and get it running.
and like Victor said some other stuff is coming up. :)
oh yeah, i also, just the other day, parked an opty 165 rig at a buddy's house whose old computer died. so that should start checking in shortly. i hope; with him you never know. he always seems to be "having computer problems". you know the type... hopefully he won't mess it up too bad and it will start to and continue to do some work and produce points.

Anywhoo, enough outta me, bout me.

Good going team! I'm digging being over 5 mill, as a team, and beating EasyNews, as well.
And here I forgot it was St Patricks day until Riptide reminded me.
Fish and these great potatoes from Schawn's.. Excellent.. But not a boiled dinner..:(
Five in a row :)

A little behind Easynews today.
:up: Keep it up guys. On a side note, those of you waiting for 45nm quads they are starting to appear at a few retailers. Within a week they should be at the big ones like NewEgg/ZZF/NCIX. Maybe we will see a boost from that:shrug:
It is awesome to see us stepping up so quick :)
Quad #41 will be online within 24 hours.:) I am tempted to start getting parts for #42.
DDTUNG:cool:
Bah, I hate all you people with your many quad cores. I'm still waiting for my 680i to get back from RMA so I can get my first real 24/7 rig up and running (a single 1.7Ghz P4 doesn't quite count :p:), and that'll only be a cheap Core2Duo. Running my gaming rig (what's in my sig) 24/7 isn't an option, since it's a shade on the loud side, very much on the bright side, and a shade on the space heater side, too (And it's summer over here in Australia :p:).
Eller
Got my replacement parts for the Quad.
Should be up today.
Got one of those Black Pearl P5K Premiums and they upgraded my PSU from the Corsair 520 to the 550..:up:
I'll tell you something that you might not agree with but it's true.
It is all of us that makes this possible. There's guys here running old P3's and socket A's.
Everyone brings what they can and it is just that "coming together" as a team that makes this all work.
I don't care if you do 500 points a day or 50,000, it's what you can do and that is what matters.
Take all the quads and high end PC's off of this team and there would still be over 2 mil a day I think..
Think on that a bit.. You count as much as anyone IMO.
Karl ,
I don't get it - your watercooled system is too loud for 24/7 operation??
Make it more silent then! Clock it down a little , if that's what's needed for 24/7 action.
The fun part is trying to squeeze the maximum out of your current hardware.
All comes down to persistence and dedication :yepp:
Counsel him? I do not have enough degrees for that task. :shrug:
I would study overclocking at the feet of the Hamster Master. Besides where do you think that I learned that it is O-K to want to crunch more? :up:
And lets not forget the Words of Wisdom handed down to us from the Hamster Master...."You must overclock it, or I'll ban you from XS" :bows: :bows: :bows:
Keep it up, team.

WOOT one result away from 500k :D (wcg points)
:rolleyes: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Looking up at a guy that ran me over and backed up to run over me again !!! Ouch. That's with me quadded out, too ! :clap:
Good thing you're back helping us out, we almost got EasyNews today ! Let's see if we can stay equal to them here until we ramp up even more !
Ramping up will be a bit easier soon as I should have enough money come in shortly to build a quad core system ..................
well... you guys can expect some medium size guns being loaded on back to the team this weekend. If i can pull everything together. I'll see if i can get 1 of my spare quads up during my main's rebuild.

Nice! :up:
Over 5 million again:D , and close to Easynews.
Keep it up.
Guys !
The last two days, we've been something like TWO QUADS short of beating them ! Right ? I think so... :confused:
I'll get another one if two of you others will agree to also !
OK, make that three.
And I reserve the right to rescind this offer once I sober up.
After the checkins I saw in today's threads the 30k is on deck already and I'm certain more will appear. This is truly an inspiring group. :up:
I got my second Phenom running a couple days ago but this is the first day it's made a serious contribution. So I can't take you up on the offer for at least a couple more months. But I do intend to replace a mobo on a Q6600 that is only running at stock presently, so that might work out to be 1/3 of a quad - assuming I can get it up to 3.2ghz reliably. I seem to run into longer term problems when I try to push much beyond that.
I have another quad in the works, plus I got a friend to add his x2 4400. It's just at stock though, but still a decent cruncher.
I was hoping to have some new rigs up soon, but the lack of skulltrail boards are killing me.
Guess I'll just pick up a x3350 for now.
I ordered two more about 15 minutes ago. Will be ready on Saturday week (next time I am back in town) - so that will be my 4th in my home farm. :D it was annoying me seeing that we are so darn close to them...so this is it...we will take them now!!!! I will not even offer knee pads!!!!
This is why we are XTREME!!
We all see that we are painfully close to taking out EN in the daily scores. I itch and burn when I see us miss by one or two quads.....:mad: (.....or maybe it's just crabs....:rofl: )
Now, with what is committed above, I add this. As soon as Q9450s become available to me, I will put up two of them. (and no, this has nothing to do with my Nehalem plans....I want to play with some yorkie hardware to asses it's efficiency.)
So, you guys keep your commitments (If I know DDT, it's probably in house now...anyway. :up: ), I'll keep mine, and we should easily be beating EN by at least 100k+ a day. That's a start. When Nehalem comes out, I expect us to go to another level, but that's some time away. For those with limited funding (or a wifey to take care of:p: ) perhaps you want to wait. The signals look good for the Intel "tock" to have taken place with them.....
As always,
Regards,
Bob
The chip, PSU, HDD, ram, and vid are here. Just waiting on a TRUE.:D
DDTUNG:cool:
I kind of figured you were already set for #42...:clap: :up:
I'm going to get a couple of TRUEs for these next machines. It looks like they work very well from what you report. Price isn't bad either. It would be nice if I can run air cooled in the summer here. I still have my B3s on the mass watercooler. It's the only way I can keep decent clocks in the summer.
Regards,
Bob
Found a dead quad and gave it a good swift kick and its now back in the game. Been down since early February. :(

The vantecs screamed...:D

As I told you earlier, im waiting for a q9450, so i ordered another, so......
Currently waiting for two q9450, seems like it could take some time before i get them. Just 40 behind you when they get here, lol, watch out, im coming for you guys. Ehhhhhh:rofl:
(also looking in too adding two more, dont tell my wife!)
Unlike some off you guys, i have to do my boincing at home,lol.
Deux is right. LGA775 Xeon counterpart to Q9450.
Here's a link to us boys in the US.
http://www.lagoom.com/Intel_CPU_Xeon...id-580363.html
Are they actually higher binned, or not? Because I know some people who would swear by the Xeon chips being higher binned (and thus OC better), while others swear that they're binned exactly the same as their desktop counterparts.
Eller
Another nice day:)
XtremeSystems - 5,331,668
Easynews - 5,252,936
From what I understand, it's not really "higher" binned, but more "differently" binned. The parameters that are checked are weighted a bit differently and I believe a few of the on die fuses are set slightly differently to change a bit of the pre-fetching behavior and other assorted priorities for how it functions in certain situations.
It's still pretty much a toss up as to which clocks better with the limited data set we have most of the time.
Edit: ooooooo! and way to go team on whomping easy news again!
Nice job guys, how many days does that make now?
On an OT note, Blauhung, regarding the Bloomfield board board that appeared today. How many channels would be used if only two sticks were installed into 2 same color slots? How about all 4 slots? I hope you can answer but totally understand if you can't.
Wes, or anyone else. Have you used Lagoom? Are they good to do business with?
If so, I found the X3350 OEM version without cooler for $334 here....
Credit card is ready......:rofl: :clap:
Thx for the heads up,
Bob
Go Bob, go.
DDTUNG:cool:
Bob,
I have not, but there is a thread were others have ordered and items shipped within a day. Can't remember if it was here or at [H].
I'm still debating on ordering one. Trying to decide if I want to hold out on Skulltrail or get a server 5400 board for the 5420's I plan on ordering here shortly.
I doubt the $150 price difference (between selling a used q6600 and new x3350) is going to give me/us that many more points over a q6600.
EDIT: Awesome day guys!
First off, only guessing....
but I see no reason why only putting 2 sticks in wouldn't have it run just fine in dual channel mode, but then your just wasting all that yummy possible bandwidth.
Fill all 4 and then you have channel 0 with one stick that won't be interleaved with anything all by it's lonesome. This will be a similar situation to using a normal board today with 3 slots populated. As I haven't ever played with this, I don't know how the performance goes, but I expect that this would only hurt you on read or writes done on addresses that are physically located in that un-interleaved space.
And yes, back OT, awesome day. I look forward to when out lead in the dailies is clinched. Soon I think.....:up:
Wes, Thx. I'm ultimately adding these as new machines. I'm not about to shed any Q6600s yet....:D
I intend to get one just to test out what board to use it on. I've got an IP35 pro cranked up to 460 FSB (6x multi on it's Q6600) as a test to make sure I can handle the 8x multi the X3350 has. I think it will be the first test bed. The part will end up in a new machine.
Regards,
Bob
I'm glad so many of you are adding more quads ! I have to admit, I was drunk when I posted that I'd add another if you guys did. And now I just bought a pair of external (for now) 1TB Hitachi drives from Best Buy on closeout for $213 each. So no budget for another quad now that my fileserver is finally getting hardware ! All talk, no action... ;)
pffft! just ADD a machine, Wes. :)
~~~~~~~~~
I clicked on the "Add to Cart" button, for an x3350, at lagoom, but didn't go through with it.
I really, really wanted to but seeing as I have some things incoming and parts yet to be ordered I thought I better not. DAMN!
Me too....;)
......Hmmm, I could always give 123sarah a truck to borrow, for the task at hand......got the keys right here. :rolleyes: :D
EDIT: A X3350 is winging it's way here soon. Another will follow when I'm done figuring out what mobo to use them on.
EDIT2: I won't hold it against you, not too much anyway.... ;) You did say you reserve the right in the original post.....:ROTF:
Now the question is, how many times has each of us started out with "I was drunk when I....xxxxx...xxxx...."?
Bob
Ouch, you guys are rough !
Thanks, 123bob, for pointing out that I'd left myself weasel room to begin with !
As for your new question...
"I was drunk the day my momma got out of prison..." :eek:
P.S.- I DID turn you guys onto a potential hot deal, 1TB external drives for $213 on closeout at Best Buy !
....and in a round-about way the discussion turned me onto the X3350s at Lagoom....Thanks, I think.....:D
Bob
Blast! Only 10,000 points behind Riptide but I had to give up the 8 core machine today to, you know, it's intended user at work. :mad:
Can I request which two tires you'll use ?
Quad #42 went online 10 minutes ago.
DDTUNG:cool:
He'll probably use these
http://www.zieglerinc.com/dbimages/Q1838R.jpg
But I'm going to get some heavy duty tire spikes.
I don't want to see a message like "objects in mirror may have already passed you"
