Big Game Hunter X: Crysis on the Savanna
awesome looking... but the game feeling is missing imo, and i dont like most of the weapons :P
Why did I just buy a laptop with IG?!?!!??!
This is pretty amazing that that in 17 years we come from Doom to this.
is there any way we can download the maps?
Yeap,try here
wowo i might actually buy this game; havent done that since oblivion. (i bench more then i game lol!)
by mods do you mean actual games or just pictures people have made with the engine?
HOLY FUDGENICKS!!!!!!! I got druel on my PC i need to get a computer run it on those specs holy mother of a issac neuton!!
Not to kill the Crysis mood here "witch is a damn awsuuume piece of game software that rubbs ya groins".....
But there was actually chances to push FarCry engine to higher limits than the original game "with a load of software mods and a little bit of configuration". Witch actually still makes FarCry laggy on my Core 2.33ghz 2gb DDR2 667mhz geforce 7900GTX go...! And that game is friggin OLD.
The configurations got FarCry to match out with HL2 graphics.... so this is another magic box found :) Lets c what CryEngine2 will be good for in future games in 1-2 years :D!! Battlefield culd definetly get a Battlefield Vietnam feelin NOW instead of 4-5 years back. Shooting cong in the bushes wuld be sweet and put in a flamethrower and you got toasted nice gameplay.... by CRYTECK ofc ;)
Sorry for dreamin a bit ^^

The Making of Crysis and Yerli's brothers :)
OP: wow
to bad that theres no card that can run those resolutions with at least a playable 60fps. Definitely alot of future potential.
been out a long time.
Just a Far Cry 64-bit patch in general, came out a long time before Vista... One of the few games which got 64-bit RIGHT... Improved graphics, draw-distance AND performance, at the same tim...
Be sure to get the 1.3 patch at the least though, as that introduced HDR-lighting to the mix as well...
Best Regards :toast:
I googled "far cry x64" and got this: http://www.filecloud.com/file/1625/F...Upgrade+Patch/
Exactly what you need. :)
so are these options available in the full version of the game?
i.e. is it possible to just turn these options on in the options menu without having to "hack" anything? (i don't have the game)
I'm confused.
Would this mean this is something we could expect to see implemented into Crysis in the future, perhaps through updates?
I have to disagree. Programmers are getting lazy when it comes to optimization. The Source engine is the best IMO... everything else, it seems that the programmers are just like "Well, everyones going to have Penryn and SLI 8800Ultras with 4GB of RAM, so we can get lazy and just write awful code."
And I have to disagree with you on that one, as I've done with several people who call Crysis "badly optimized"...
There simply are limitations to computing-power (yes, even in these days of half a Tera-flop GFXs), and with a game like Crysis, those limitations are encountered... Just look at the game... It's the first game in a very long time to actually push the envelope as far as graphics, physics and interactable enviroments go... It's like nothing we've ever seen before, it looks breathtaking, it gives you a 50-75% destrucable world to play in, and for the first 2/3's of the game, you can generally play any way you want...
Yet some people call it badly optimised because their 2-year old systems can't run it at highest settings...
Come on guys, this game is in its own league, naturally nobody can play it on full settings...
And even at settings which are playable on 1-2 year old hardware, the game still looks incredible...
I would call Crysis the best optimised game of newer time
Best Regards :toast:
I agree. I mean HL2 was released way back in 2004, and still looks great. It runs like a charm. I think Crytek has done a horrible job on Crysis. Nothing i've seen suggests that it needs more than a GTX/GT SLI to get smooth framerates in res as low as 1280. Esp with the fact that the DX 10 features are merely DX 9, where is the slowness coming from- crap code.
and you know the code is crap, because.....?
Exactly.
Sure HL2 runs good... it runs good on todays systems because well its older engine that has been updated over time. Valve did a great job expanding the engine over the years don't get me wrong its great but it does look good but defiantly not as good as Crysis.
Source engine doesn't even use dynamic lighting, it has very small levels, low poly count etc, obviously it wont take much to run it. It is very scaleable though, a DX 7 gfx card can run it.
Because of the "DX 9 hacks". I think you'd agree that DX 10 cards at the moment aren't the best. Fair enough. Change some settings and you see that the DX 10 effects are merely DX 9. So if the slowness (and i say this cause even a GTX SLI + QUAD doesn't get 'decent' fps on res as LOW as 1280) isn't down to the DX 10 what is it down too? Don't get me wrong the source engine is old, but how would you explain the UT 3 engine, or even WIC (which looks incredible and in DX 10 is playable on a GT at 1920)?
Don't get me wrong Crysis looks incredible, it's easily the prettiest game out there. But again i'll say that even so a GTX/GT SLi and a Quad should be playing it at a higher framerate than they currently do.
Oh and the last thing- what about the patch that improves performance coming out from Crytek ;) What else is that improving?
Again i'm not claiming that it should be running at 60fps at 1920 res. Merely that the performance shouldn't be that bad. I mean i tried it on 'low' on my soon to be replace 7800GT, and the game looks as good as HL 1 (!). So if i compared Crysis on my card and HL 2, they're worlds apart. I think i time patches will improve the code.
Say what you will about good or bad code, but games with very high hardware requirments like this one are imo helping to kill pc gaming. If this and other trends in pc gaming continue the console's will rule the gaming market!
I'm not a gamer myself, so i don't really care, but it might be something you should care about.
Nah i think pushing the boundaries is exactly why Pc gaming won't die and why i'm now a PC gamer (after playing only on consoles). You know what to expect with PC gaming. I'll be able to buy a mid end card in a year or so and it will run it. In the meantime i can enjoy it on very high at 1280, and play the truckload of games that are out and very playable (sorry to harp on but WIC is awesome).
You are on XS which means you are a hardware enthuisiast like it or not:D
The rest of the worlds gaming population eg around 85% of it does not like spending a lot on hw every 2 years. Yes there will always be people willing to spend money, but the potential revenues and margins for game designers will become better for consoles and worse for pc's.
That has been the philosophy which Console-idiots have been using for years to justify why we as PC-gamers have to swallow crappy ports...
If you look back over the last year, how many of the games which have come out have been cross-platform? ANd how many of them have truly pushed the boundaries of graphics and gameplay? Almost zilch...
PC-gaming is what pushes the industry forward, because we're able to purchase better and better hardware, where consoles are stagnant the day they're released... Sure the devs will get better at controlling and programming for the hardware in the consoles, but they will be limited by the fact that it will not improve in the console's lifetime...
Games the likes of Crysis are what the PC-gaming need! Something so truly amazing that a console cannot run it... World in Conflict, Dawn of War etc., RTS-games belong on a PC, EA are the only ones who try to convince us otherwise... StarCraft II is coming up, a game which will keep PC-gaming alive completely on its own for the next 10 years :D...
PC-gaming will never die, it's a completely different vein of gaming compared to consoles... The fact that ports exist (bad ports specifically) is because some developers can't make the money they want (need?) from the console-market/PC-market alone...
Best Regards :toast:
I am not a gamer, so dont ask about or me give facts about specifics games! I just look at the fincial part of the equation and the facts are irreputable console industry has more potential.
But agree or disagree, its fine by me. I have no stake in this console fanboy vs pc fanboy war.
I just voice my opinion and respectfully disagree.
EDIT: i see i used kill to describe pc gaming, it is the wrong word............. Making it less financialy intresting to devlop games for......... is more accurate.........
I wasn't asking you to take sides, I just don't like it when people say "PC-gaming is dying", 'cause it isn't ;)
It might not be leading the game anymore, but it sure isn't dying...
Best Regards :toast:
Have to say that thw Wii is pushing boundaries for consoles. Mario Galaxy looks unlreal.
That's very impressive graphics, rivaling animated films couple years ago!!
But in terms of gameplay, it's the same old boring junk. Pretty graphics helps but PC gaming has been stagnant on the gameplay innovation front. Not much is going on for FPS as a genre, and RTS for that matter.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaHS-y_mapQ
I don't think this has been posted yet.
Crysis ISN'T a bad optimized game stop saying that withour any proof,it's like a trend now everyone blames crysis for it's bad optimisation gameplay and story....
First of all have you ever looked at a Cryengine2 PDF?
The Source engine doesen't even come close to it so it's normal that it runs better when HL2 will have 3D clouds, parallax occlusion mapping,3D Ocean,Subsurface scattering,Breakable Buildings (and I mean all buildings in HL2 EP2 there were only 5 breakable buildings and not by you) Vegetation which is bendable reacting to wind, rain and character's movement, sunshafts ,battle dust (the particles which are created from let's say dropping a grenade on some dusty terrain and then blowing it creates dust particles which react to wind like the first picture shows)breakable trees,a view distance up to 16km,Parametric Skeletal Animation System,Component Vehicle Damage,Time of Day Lighting and fully distructable levels then we may talk about engine optimisation until then it's like comparing tetris to Doom....
Anyway on my 8800GT,E2160 @ 3Ghz and 2 gigs of ram the game is running at 44FPS 1280x1024 with all settings high and ~40FPS when I enable the cheap version of the DX10 light and sunshfats+parralax occlusion mapping + 3D ocean and my PC si worth ~1000 euros not like the beasts of 5000$ which most reviewers say that you need for this game @ high settings.
As for story and gamplay well it's a FPS and it's limited by it's own genre you can't make from a FPS which is (mindless shooting even in Half life because those are the roots of the genre) a RPG or a RTS etc...

3D Ocean
how do you unlock ultra high settings in the editor??
did you make them above levels yourself mate?? they look amazing!
Well Far Cry 2 is a Ubisoft game not a Crytek (and EA as a publisher) game so it's diffrent form Crysis, only Far Cry was running on the Cry Engine 1.
Yeap it looks insane but I am sure it will require more than Crysis :)
@disruptfam-search crymod, you will find there lots of maps and the way to enable new settings etc...
I believe that FC2runs the same engine as Crysis, Crytech said they were not going to develop a new engine for their next game.
Far Cry 2 isn't made by Crytek studios,it's made by Ubisoft Montreal if I am not mistaken.
according to wiki/ubi forum,
the Engine is called:
Dunia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Far_Cry_2#Engine
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...5/m/5201066285
i truly hope they make this for PC and port it to console....
sooo many games were made for console so that PC max out @ 1280x1024/720, it looks the same as console versions ...
I have no time to read 7 pages, so can someone tell me IF I CAN GET THESE SETTINGS IN THE FULL GAME??
If so where do I find out how??
ohh right oops, edited. was thinking standard definition ratio
maybe its b/c that 19" LCD monitors are soo cheap nowadays??
maybe soon, in next year or 2, 22" will be what 19" cost today, and 24", 30 will be popular again ...
bw why was this moved from xtreme review to news??
Hey, look, it's Crysis 2. :p:
What I really want to know is why the demos always play so smooth. Even Cevat Yerli himself said Crysis was designed using G80 technology, and then when it came out, people could barely play it on their G80s at non-insane settings. What's the deal with this? Are the settings for demos just turned down low for playability's sake, or are the devs always just one step ahead of us in hardware (without letting us know it, that is).
hey i just searched around , and it seems like this game will be made for PC only, then they might port it to console, which i dont care as long as the game isnt dumbed down for console
They will probably port it to the Xbox360, seeing that a lot of the PC games are 360 ports, the porting is probably not too hard.
Very weak chances to port it for consoles since this game needs more resources than Crysis....
The game isn't running on Cry-Engine 2 since this engine is a Crytek trademark and since Crytek split up with Ubisoft i doubt it is being used in this game....
HERE is the site when you can download guides/maps and mods to make the game look like in the above picture.
Well the game runs pretty well on a G80,you can get with the latest drivers ~50FPS on a 8800GTX with all High in the benchmark and ~45-28 in the game, the FPS drops down massively when you encounter enemy AI and the firefights begin.
BTW:Has anyone noticed that most of the Crysis presentation demo's waren't available in this first part of the game?
Hint:The nuclear explosion/the ship which blows up a part of the mountain/the mission when you go gunning down a whole forrest with Prophet etc...
You can in no way get those kinda settings with any map. That is a specially made map to look glorious. certain fog, jungle mist and ray animations have been added, as well as a new water texture and transparency. You can get close to these setting though. This map is at Crymod.com
you can find that map where all the screenshots were taken here: http://crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=278&lim=20
Also you may be able to get it like they have by messing with water trans and overall contrast and color. Hence the photo with the super green leaves and such. Its all just tweaking.
I cannot retrieve the video but I've seen a few weeks ago a very long trailer of Far Cry 2 with developer's comments, showing the vehicles, AI, weather system, battles, fire, weapons, rendering, etc and as far as I can say it was much more impressive than the few recent trailers published like if they are breaking news
if someone can find it it's really worth seeing
Yes quite appropriate I must say. The word is also used in swahili, hindi and punjabi. Infact when I saw the first saw the word and the world FC2 has, I grinned to myself... :DQuote:

u wanna knoe something? There is a card out there that can play this game at 60fps, its just locked up in NORAD! how could they make a game that looks like that with 8800gtxs? they couldn't have, i say big green gave Crytech some concept cards to make this game (ie UberGeDuberForce G100 ) u cant make a 30ft rod with 20 ft of steel
Ultra high :P At 1920x1080p No AA i get 20-30FPS in DX10 with the 20FPS being on the Last level with heavy firefights.
I still gotta figure out the stuttering, But These cfg also tells the hardware to off-load some of the physics onto the GPU and CPU instead of being all on the CPU. I'm still tweaking it and getting it ready for the 9800GTX cards ;)
does silentiums cfg add sunshafts in xp like hp,s does or do you still have to modify cvargroups files?
i must say the silentium config is highly optimised.perfect for playing through the whole singleplayer campaign or even multiplayer! basically im seeing high quality settings+sunshafts+very high quality water.shadows seem a dark medium quality but becomes very high quality when you get close enough.just what i always wanted  .ironically i can now turn on 2xAA and still get higher fps than if i had everything at very high :ROTF:
That doesn't actually help anything unless your running a single core system. Very good for single core though, I would suggest anyone with a single core system to enable this through console, of config file, that is, if you have a beefy GFX card. If you dont, dont waste the time.
I found the pictures hard to believe until I downloaded the Jungle map and config file myself and tried out. Now I'm a believer. It turned out looking exactly like those screenshots. I was able to run around between 15-25FPS which may not be playable for the real game but was more than enough for me for this brief demo. This game really has potential. Just like FarCry it will became a benchmark for latest cpu/gpus.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...5-05-02-60.png
Here is what I got so far with my V2 of my CFG. That I haven't posted yet.
But Its for Quad Cores / 8800GTX or Above only.
These picture was taken by me at 1280x720 at 16xQ AA!!! It was also semi-playable. These is the first level of the game.
I will try to take pics of the jungle and island Custom levels later.
I copied the Config file and the Game does look a lot better if the Custom setting left alone. I think mine had not made use of more than one core because I seem to be getting better Frame Rates. With just a single 3870, I was shocked at how well it did run.
Now the bad, I'm still seeing Objects appear out of nowhere, and Hidden Surface glitches, though fewer now, are still there.
Wrong :P
DX10 uses Item hidding and Rapid Landscape morphing to keep a good performance.
Go into Sandbox 2, and Load up a map, anyone, then Look at the map upclose. Then go about 3000 clicks in the air and free fall. Then you'll start to see what I'm talking about.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...8-39-09-74.jpg
http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...boys%20Crysis/
My New config file V2.
I minimized the memory usage in general.
I also maximized the graphics and CPU usage to really take advantage of quad cores, maximized graphics memory for the 8800GTX/Ultra series.
As You can see in those pics, For a Decent sized Island. Its only about a 512MB of System memory. These pics where taken at 1920x1080p with a 4xQ AA (Custom AA setting I tweaked via command lines) and I'm still getting 16-34 FPS in crysis at these settings.
PS. I'm looking for Testers and feedback for Quad Core + 8800GTX/Ultra users
17-34 FPS? Scraps. Not even playable for me. Bickering over a handful of frames when you aren't getting anywhere near 60 isn't worth it. Shelf Crysis for a few generations. This game should've been optimized for hardware that was out when it came out with the ability to unlock these higher settings later on like Doom3 did with ultra. The problem is it wasn't optimized for current high end hardware and it doesn't even take advantage of a quad - Crytek has lied about alot of things with Crysis...
No, it doesnt.
