With new bios Asus remove max vcore to 2.4 and We only have 1.7V to oc. Downgrade Your bios and You will be have vcore to 2.4V.
For me worked only up to 1.9V.

you got to be serious trying to run your vcore above 1.7....the only reason to do over 1.7v is for a max suicide run into windows to validate a max overclock.
those who owned both p5e and maximus formula, mind to tell wat is the diff in bios?
Could someone please tell me if vdroop is fixed on P5E yet?
how about vdrop on the deluxe? anyone?
how well does the damper work in deluxe?
regards.
0504 is on the asus ftp server, but i get crc error with 7zip.
Link if anyone will test:

the same here CRC error...
0504.. isn't this the Maximus Formula bios?
hey guys! New to the forums.
I just loaded this bios last night and they changed a few things in the AI Tweaker. They changed out the voltage damper for loadline calibration. It's worked wonders for my vdroop. It used to drop by at least .05-.06 and now i only see a .02 drop and on load it increases by .02-.04.
The board seems to be more stable running 4GB at 1600MHz. Haven't tried running it higher yet.
I definitely prefer this bios over the 0503.
can you upload this bios please?
it's on asus support site.
Hi guys (Noob on the forums warning)
This question has probably been asked many many times, but see I just bought a Q6600 G0 stepping (SLACR) cpu and it will be cooled by a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme, inside a P182B case and just intealled Asus P5E3 Deluxe Mobo (X38 finally!) And believe it or not a very wealthy but eccentric brother in law just bought me as a rushed christmas present 2x2048 (4 Gigs) of Crucial Ballistix DDR3 12800 (1600 Mhz) 8-8-8-20. He was indeed crazy to spend so much money! But hey, that's what friends are for
I'm the former owner of a X6800 Conroe (2.93Ghz), and this time I'm upgrading to a Q6600 as payoff for the money Intel ripped-off from the X6800 I want the goodness of not having to pay extra dimes again, and get good performance.
What I'm trying to do is very simple. I would like to get my Q6600 to reach 2.93Ghz or 3.00Ghz if possible. It's just a "modest" overclock, not extreme. I might try extremes later. I don't want to push it too much because I want stability, but at the same time I want the same speed as thr QX6850 (3Ghz). Viewing all the reviews and records on this CPU it shouldn't be too hard.
I've heard that the Q6600 can run undervolted and reach the speeds I wan't but I don't want to mess with memory as much as I can, I've learned my lessons with all the BSOD problems I had before.
So then what should be simplet way to achieve 3.00 Ghz assuring stability?
Well you guys have all the experience. Can you help me out?
Thanks a bunch
PS: I've saw the vdroop mod. AWESOME! I might try it later. Is it true that this vdroop mod reduce temps as I've heard... why?
I didn't see it on the support site.
i got it from here: ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...5/P5E3_DELUXE/
You should be able to hit 3.2GHz w/out breaking a sweat. When i was using the SLACR i hit 3.6GHz prime stable for 10 hours on air. That was only on 1.5v(actual). All you'll need to do is set your FSB to 333 and leave your multi at 9 and you'll hit 3.0. You might not even have to mess with the voltage.
being on the x38 might get you pretty good results so i say shoot for at least 3.4.
Testing 0504... No drop anymore great!

Thanks for the reply Crazypinoy!
So 504 is for P5E3? So after that no need for Vdroop mod?
Also some of you have tried already with 1600Mhz DDR3. Would you mind posting your bios settings once you push your clocks?
I'll post my setting tonight. I have only been benching with 4GB G.Skill right now but tomorrow i'm gonna start testing 2GB.
So far I'm at 500x8 w/ the QX6700 @ 1.52v (1.5v actual). My vapo is still running strong because at this voltage i'm still getting -12c on 100% load. This is w/ the G.Skills @ 1600 w/ 7-7-7-18 so i haven't really had to mess with the memory at all.
Since i'm a little noob to these forums here's a couple pics inside my rig:

P5E3 Deluxe is at the Egg now, $349:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...3%2bdeluxe
Clubit had stock last friday. i picked it up from their store for $369.
I think they were the only ones that had them for almost a week.
Just hold out for the QX9770! 3.2GHz w/ stock 1600FSB!
won't that come out in early 2008?
ya...supposedly. Which is why i'm gonna wait. My QX6700 clocks higher than the ES Penryn I have so there's no need for me to upgrade in Nov.
This is what i've spent in the last 2 week:
Asus P5E3 $369
4GB GSkill DDR3 $1K
2x ATI 2900XT 1GB $1K
Thermaltake 1200W PSU $340
Total $2709
My bank account is telling me that i should wait a little bit :p:
LOL:D i would say SO!:)
some people are clocking the QX9650 into the 4500-4600 Mhz range on air.

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=162721
I couldn't hold off and baught a GO. I figure I will thrash it around for a while, let the new chips settle in, then make a grab. :)
I do think they are going to be worth it..... ?? ;)
Does anyone have Moded BIOS of MAXIMUS which can put to P5E?
I've been trying to put MAXIMUS FORMULA BIOS to P5E, but don't succeed.
Change of subject: Anybody using 8Gigs of RAM (4X2 sticks) on the P5E????:)
I really think there are no readouts on the NB and SB on the P5E, not even with a modded bios, it's the same discussion as when the Striker Extreme was released and the P5N32-SLI , yes they use the same PCB , though there are numerous differences (though not all to be seen with the naked eye), hence the extra cost...
If you find it though let us know, but I think you will be looking for a needle in a haystack
I want to upgrade my gaming rig ... from nForce 680i SLI with Dual Core + DDR2 to X38 and Quad Core + DDR3, but i am not sure with mobo ...
P5E3 Dlx or wait for Maximus Extreme? P5E3 Dlx is good i have it, but is not a Maximuse better?
No reason to buy P5E instead of Maximus so I've discovered. Only €60 more for WC NB, Sound card, LCD Poster and working bios. Mine is going back as soon as I receive it.
P5E has the same sound card, too. Bios is going to be almost the same. Now is yust one step ahead (fixed load line calibration). I am on air so WC NB doesn't matter for me. I am not going to pay €60 for LCD poster. But I should admit Maximus is more sexy than P5E.
Typo, 0203 :p:
4:5 divider is now broken, at least inside 350-400FSB range. Will try more later. Also, when VCore set to auto, with 0107 you get your default VID and when the CPU is idling it drops, now with 0203 auto=1.36 VCore always static??¿?
best board i've ever owned... i'm really pleased with the overclocking ability. very stable board and it loves my quad.... cant wait for a 45nm now.....
heres a pic
P5E BIOS 0107 (works like a charm, absolutely NO issues) + vdroop mod is a winner combination. This simple mod has rise my stable speed by 100Mhz with the same load voltage. Awesome. It tooks 5 seconds to do it.
do you have a link to the mod?
See page 3 of this same thread.
I just got the P5E too. I have no need for the lcd or the watercooling option, so I decided to save the 50€ or so. I just hope that they keep up with the bioses on this thing as well.
Too bad, but I don't the time to put the thing together today... :/ I've got a Q6600 G0 waiting.
Yeah, the Maximus extra crap is about 60-70€ more here than the P5E on average.
do you just pencil over where the pic has a black mark.... the v mod isnt clear to me. could someone enlighten me so i can do it. thanks in advance... ;)
and @ bigchrome, you do recieve the same sound card as with the maximus... but it isnt a bonafied sound card. its just a codec.
It is more than simple. Open the case, turn off power supply, grab the pencil and few times go over orange highlighted resistor. I just did it with my daughter's HB pencil. Works like charm. Load and idle vcore exactly the same - 1.400 v. In bios set to some 1.4125.
I bought the P5E. Intel heatsink Xeon X3220, 2x 1 gb OCZ 800. I set the FSB to 400, Ram to DDR2-800 and the FSB to 1:1. Dropped the multi to 6 instead of 9.
I can't get the board to adjust the Ram voltage. The selection is fixed on AUTO and can not be changed. I am using bios 203.
Other than that, great motherboard, simple setup. Worked without any hitches.
Just type a value for the ram voltage, hit enter and then you can adjust it with +/-. A really strange feature someone could even call a bug... ;)
Is there no sensor for ramvoltage readout ???
If not , can somebody tell me where i can readit on the board with a multimeter.
Need help with Raid config,
i have 3 drives
1 Raptor 36g that i want my OS on
And 2 250g drives that i want to run in raid0
And all 3 drives are seen when im going to make the aray, i take only the 2 disk that i want and the raptor says non raid disk, so far so good, booted and the aray is there with 465g, but the raptor is also a raid disc and want boot my OS.
Can i not have raid on only 2 disks on sata 2-3 and my raptor in sata0, wery strange this.
P5E
Please HELP ME: :)
How do you turn the CPU & DRAM voltages on this board????
Also when you turn RAID on I cant see the DVDRAM, how come?????
Thank you:clap:
U must give the voltages manual , there where Auto stands.
Just go with the arrow down until u stand on the vcore ( highlights ) then type 1350 , if u give this in after that the voltages is adjustable when u press the + or - key ( never seen anything like this .... )
And also do the vdroop mod , this helps alot !
Man I'm loving my P5E! This things overclocks my Q6600 miles better than the Blood Iron I had for three day before it destroyed itself. Maybe it's something to do with the new Seasonic psu as well, but right now I'm running prime at 3600 (my original target) with around 1,4v (taking the vdroop into account). I need to do the vdroop mod as well.
If you do that mod, you will gain a few Mhz too at the same final voltage :D
I might say something about your avatar, but maybe I just stay quiet... ;)
OMG, you think someone would mention this to me??? Apogee GT and Storm both don't fit on my board!! Nice 200e paperweight then eh?
Well, the space around the socket is rather tight. I just managed to install the Tuniq Tower, but I'm sure some other solutions will cause problems.
Hmm... Got it on by breaking the alum. thing just a little bit.. Now I have it not booting everytime I restart (not good really) And if anyone could help me out with someof the more advanced voltage settings I'd appreciate it.
This just isn't funny....How the :banana::banana::banana: do I get the board to restart and/or save my OC settings..
I can just see the ASUS board meeting now.. "Sir, I, Eh, think it doesn't restart properly" "Who the hell needs to restart??"
Oh But I can't even get it to come on after that! Needs 3 restarts and then my settings are reset. Whatever I've just done it restarted fine from bios this time but I'm sure it will be back.
Sometimes i laugh about all the things that could wrong with a board. People are always worried about stuff like overclocking and stability...i never thought that i'd have problems restarting my system. LOL! :p:
Takes the enjoyment out of shelling out 250 bucks, eh? Things will get sorted out; hang in there.
What I've noticed is that hard re-starts happen after your overclock crosses a strap threshold, or after a CAS change, or if you give too little voltage to any of the vital components ie. nb, sb, vcore, etc.
I think whenever this happens, the board re-adjusts certain internal latencies. If the discrepancy between what you set and what is actually needed to operate safely is too great, then the board boots with bios defaults.
Anyway, anyone else notice the async memory clocking on the X38? I think the X38 chipset is very advanced, but it is always fighting overclocks it doesn't like; kinda like the onboard computers on a Mercedes S Class designed to keep the car from doing certain things to ensure safe operation.
Hi there:
I've pdated my P5E3 Deluxe wifi@ap , which was working great with the BIOS 0141, that's the one that came from retail.
I've registered my board in the ASUS website and then went to the download section and updated my bios rev.0301. I didn't wanted to do the beta 504 :-(
The problem is that after that the Logo switched from being a Deluxe WI-FI to just Deluxe. I went into the BIOS setup and there is NO Express Opion avaliable in the tools section anymore.
How did this happen? I mean this is the flagship motherboard and Express Gate just dissapears completely?
The other problem is that from there I got a USB Device popping up in Windows, called ASUS ASAP. It's a USB Device, anyone knows how to deactivate it, I think it's linked to express gete somehow.
I tried using Express Gate Updater and I got an image from the CD-ROM that came with the board but no go. I can't recover Express Gate anymore... this really blows. This was a good gimmick but now it's gone... damn.
Any other user with some knowledge to help?
Thanks!
I had that happen to me after i flashed to 0504. Just make sure that you hit the load defaults the first time you get into the bios after flashing and then restart and then the express gate option should be there....
Don't ask me why i had to do that....all i know is that it worked :)
The vdroop with P5E is quite big... I don't know if I feel like doing the pencil mod or will I just wait for the LLC to work in bios.
has anyone tried using a silver conductive pen instead of the pencil trick?...it would be a better connection than using a pencil.
Thanks crazypinoy!
I will try this at home. Either way, I find very strange that there are no exlusive BIOS updates for the WI-FI version of this mobo.
I assume that P5E3, P5E3 Deluxe and P5E3 Deluxe Wi-FI@AP share the same bios revisions, is that right? I mean the only place on the crappy asus website where you can find the drivers to download is from the P5E3 Deluxe, but as for the WI-FI version, the Download link doesn't show anything.
To continue with the problem with express gate, you mean that after flashing the BIOS and reboot, you pressed F5 to load the setup defaults and express gate showed again on the BIOS setup?
The other thing, I really want to know if that ASUS ASAP, that USB physical device in between the second PCI-E and the second PCI can be removed phisically (like you can with the wireless card that ships with the board)?
See that piece in the center.
http://www.bit-tech.net/content_imag...emdlin-800.jpg
I know that express gate depends on it, but I just can't stand this USB device popping over and over.
The weird thing is that when I try using Express GAte Updater, it seems to connect and disconnet that USB device (icon of USB device appears/dissapears) while using it.
I just hate that Express Gate has been removed just from a Bios update, I'm stuck, I wrote ASUS but still don't have answers yet.
Any help would be extremely appreciated!
What is the highest FSB you guys can get stable on your P5E/P53?
I can only manage 460 fsb stable, no matter what voltage :( On water too...
Do we have any vmod (pencil if possible) to increase vCore on the P5E?
right here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...2&postcount=34
EDIT:...re-read your post...this is to take care of Vdroop not Vcore increase...sorry.
This board honestly has some really weird issues.... I can run 500 fsb at 6 multi and I can run 400x9 stable but I can't even boot 450x8...wtf? I also Can't get my cpu stable at 3.7ghz for more than a minute and I know the cpu can do 3.8+
Um, to get 9x400 fully stable I need to give 1.5075 for vcore in bios. That gives me 1.408 according to CPUZ and 1.4 according to Everest while running prime. Is the vdroop really that big?
Unfortunately it is that exactly that big for me also. Have you done the pencil mod? Also, someone brought up a good point a few posts back about maybe using a conductive pen... Has anyone tried that?
(I'm using the Maximus Formula SE, the mod is the same though)
Well, I guess I'm just going to wait for a while for a bios update for LLC to fix the vdroop issue. If that doesn't happen within a month or so, I'll try the pencil mod. I'm a bit hesitant of using a conductive pen since that would most likely be the end of warranty.
