Wow, ok totally sold. Now just need to think on extra cooling for it and a new case suited better for water cooling probably.

Now why did they run 3DMark06 with res @ 1280x1024??
uh can't wait for the benches to be unleashed :D this will be fun for sure (and is about time ;) )
hi there the mounting holes accordingly are the same as on the x1900 cards so it should be fine its only the full cover waterblocks which cover the ram etc which may be a problem with these new cards as the pcb is different but the maze 4 which just covers the core should be fine
How does Hynix 1.0ns GDDR3 overclock?
Funny that retail XTs (9.5") have 1.0ns Hynix chips but OEMs (8.5") get 0.9ns Samsung.

someone can tell me 3Dmark05 score of 8800gtx sli ?
with a 4.6G x6800 , ram @ 1100 4445-2T loosen timings.
no tweaked OS/driver, no LOD.
everything by deafult.
Hey Victor...maybe around 24-24.5K ishhh?
its more, 25.5
:D maybe ATI will win in 01/05 ag. @.@
those are more or less CPU limited benchmarks, it all depends on system sufering performance due to SLI/CF
say any one can tell me if there suffering from coldbug ? :p:
so, Daily tech R600, probably was a fireGL? :D
they tested with old driver?
I know everyone is excited over the top end products, but has anyone gotten a hold of any solid info/benches on the RV630? I am curious to know how the lower end parts fare with overclocking? I am hoping its not another overheating Digital VRM fiasco, aka x1950pro. Being a 65nm part, it should be easy to cool with a decent air setup I would imagine.
Just wondering if anyone with this card can say whether this statement is true or not, for better or worse?Quote:

2900XT 3DMark06 number
http://forums.vr-zone.com/showpost.p...1&postcount=14
Is 3DMark06 score result use a single or dual HD2900XT?
So the roumors of this card being a flop aren't true?
I take it thats a single card setup?
Anyone know what drivers they were using, because 2000 above an OCed 88GTX is good in my eyes:)
I think the best advantage that the HD2900XT has is the fact that ATI has connections with Microsoft so it can make better Dx10 drivers than Nvidia. These numbers are pretty sweet indeed but if you buy this card, you probably buy it for it's Dx10 function. So i want to see some hard Dx10 numbers before i'm convinced :para:
I just confirmed no coldbug down to atleast -90C evap (post without problems).
hi kinc is the shim around the gpu higher that that on the x1900 cards i have watercooled gpu only blocks which are the polarflo ones and they have fitted 7900gtx and the pair of x1900s perfectly i had, the shim on the pics on the hd2900 does not look any higher that that on the x1900 can you confirm
thanks
Glen
i find the scores a bit disappointing(but good at the same time), was hoping ATI could have pushed the envelope just a bit further. this is competing with GTX, but not really exceeding it perhaps maybe by a little bit. still its good news with the price of these(after gouging), should force Nvidia to lower theres. now maybe I can start to dream of next gen cards being released at a lower price than last time around..........yeah im sure its just a dream.
edit: Oh and nice clocks there Denny and thanks for sharing. you always get your hands on some good stuff. ;)

Sampsa or Kinc, you dont happen to have an Radeon HD2600XT lying around to play with?

Roll on Monday! After all the anti-climaxes, let's hope there's something to get excited about :)
Hmm maybe not Sir random :(
Guys with the 2900XT, can you disclose if the gaming figures posted here are similar to your experiences ?
http://it-review.net/index.php?optio...=1314&Itemid=1
Yes, I can't see the driver used, those results were on AMD system seems they are doing different platforms on different days and today is the X64-6000 I believe.
If they didn't sign an NDA I guess they dont have to wait ??
Stock bench numbers aren't a problem, this forum will show you those :)
Initial samples of R600 do have Inter-Layer Dielectric (ILD) implemented. (http://www.semiconductorglossary.com...erm=dielectric)
in short, it is a tech that enables transistors to work under xtreme conditions, the con of this technique is that it will increase power consumption a lot~!
however, it is also said that the mass production version by TSMC does not feature this technique. so just wondering how is the overclocking headroom for retail R2900XT as compared to these samples sent to media, lol.
very interesting victor
it will be good to see LN2 on these heheh :D

3DMark and' insufficient by now it needs to see under the games to parity,' of bases as they involve the two cards.... he/she asks her and' how come you/they don't make to ever see a test under the same game, since do these seem truthful?? You excuse the possible erred translation...
P.(Italy):slap:
saluti
P.:toast:
^^ ARGH :O, I don't speak Italian!!!
3d mark is not enough because of the fact that the AA will make a loss of 15% overall performance, it is needed also to bench the same game with same platform and settings, to analyze how the two cards bench...
The question is: why who has this ''uknown'' card never shows this kind of camparizon between GPUs in one or more games?
That's how'd i translate it! Fear not non-italian-speaking users!:D

3DMark06 stable 855/1030 MHz.
Next I'll switch to QX6700 and DFI's RD600 motherbard and DI is coming on Thursday.
It will be interesting to see max result on air cooling. Also, if understand it correctly the GPU gets rather hot? I wonder how DI can handle that...
Thanks for sharing! :toast:

Dammit, I just wanna see what's possible for 24/7 on decent water, including power figures.
Soooo now that the NDA is lifted, where is all the information?
Here we go, unfortunately this Thursday was public holiday here in Finland so I'll get dry ice next week:
http://plaza.fi/s/f/editor/images/0519_r600_dia1.png
According to AMD's document R600's recommended maximum operating temperature is 105 Celsius and 125 C is the absolute maximum. Beyond this ASIC will be damaged.
http://plaza.fi/s/f/editor/images/X-...9142802406.jpg
R600 XT GPU TDP is 160 watts and each memory chip two watts = total board TDP 225 watts
http://plaza.fi/s/f/editor/images/0519_r600_oc1.jpg
Shim is little bit higher than GPU itself so a friend of mine made 1 mm copper cold plate for better contact. Unfortunately shim is glued very tight around the R600 and very hard to remove with razor blade. G80's heat spreader is very nice feature when installing container.
http://plaza.fi/s/f/editor/images/0519_r600_oc2.jpg
Here is my aluminum solid container installed on Radeon HD 2900 XT. I modified heatsink from Radeon X1800 XT to PWM components.

Graphics card installed to test setup: QX6700, DFI RD600, pair of Corsair XMS6400-C3 and Enermax Galaxy 850 W.
Tests next week :toast:
Seems like you're gonna have fun, looking forward for your results.
Sampsa--This may be a rather mundane question...
When using that copper coldplate, do you apply thermal material inbetween both contact areas of your block(s) or just inbetween the GPU/coldplate?
And for those of us who aren't machinists, where could we pick up a 1mm piece of copper like that? Lowe's or Home Depot, possibly? Does anyone know the exact specifications of the shim area?
Nice setup Sampsa! :D
Cant wait for DI benches :)

heheh sampsa now we´r talking , DI :yepp: :D
waiting for results

Argh... I really want to see some more water results. Ive only seen one in the water cooling section.
Hey Sampsa...AMD GPUTool works for overclocking both cards at once...simple set speed for slave card first, gpu first, apply speed, then mem, apply speed, and then do the same for primary card.
second card no overclock:
15665:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1994728
to clocking second card: 15895:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=2007645
You are runing different drivers. That should be why there is a difference in the perf.
Um, no, i watched the scores rise until I reached the max of teh card to confirm. It started @ 15553, and went up a wee bit each time i raised clocks on the slave card(25mhz each time). Used driver from teh sappire isntall cd, updated to the driver from the site, and gave it a go.
Overdrive was unlocked and set to maximin speeds, AMDGPUTool overrided these settings, confirmed by running with tool closed, and then with tool open @ lower speeds, and the difference in score.
Tried it again this morning, ot confirm i jsut didn't drink too much last night :lol2:, and it still works.;)
Give it a go...works here..feel free to come over and see for yourself lol but I DID copy the wrong link nice catch Kinc.
Here's the start bench:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=2003751
Did you maintan the same clocks on the master at all time becuase from what I have seen overclocking the master is all that "sticks".
really looking forward for the DI results sampsa :toast:
Yep. same speed, verified it each time before the run using CCC. was weird to see teh mex available in CCC change when doing this, but whateva.:D
N-E way, the 155xx was one stock, 156xx i one overclcoked, 158xx is two. I have links of same approximate scores using all the same driver, not too sure what is going on...:stick:
SM2.0 score high on one, not the other, same for SM3.0...it's not consistent, I'll say that much!
I'm looking through the list of certified PSU's:
http://ati.amd.com/products/certifie...ies.html#pstop
I'm wondering do you need at least one 2x4pin connector to over clock these?
My OCZ 700w is on the list but I don't have that native 8pin connector. do I need some thing from that list that has just 1 2x4 pin?? Is there any particular PSU recommended for over clocking these cards? With out over kill?
This is one PSU i was considering: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256017
Would this be enough power??
I am running HD2900XT in crossfire with Silverstone 750W no problem here
Sampsa can you tell me the size of the Shim, 1mm 3/3cm ?
it would realy help to get it ready before the card arives here in brazil :)
enermax ddx1000w uncompatiable with DFI board using digi pwm
Which one? using that same psu on RD600 right now w/ 2 x R600...just don't plug in the floppy connectors!
to run 2 x psu would you just use a relay ?
Maybe we could see some unigine results, i have no idea if this bench is worth it as i just discovered it and never used it myself. It can test DX9 and OpenGL but not DX10 tho'. Visually this is nothing special i could see as they have a 51 Mb video, the app is 26 Mb and it's all there: http://unigine.com/download/
Download was fast too.
issue is that the floppy connectors are on rail 5, while other mobo power is rail 1/2. This creates a "short" in psu, adn the system will not start, and PSU will beep at you.
So, you either get some molex/floppy adapters, and use the 2nd 8-pin cable w/molex adapter, or you do not connect them @ all.(not connected here, works a treat: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=2017986)
Silverstone works because of rail config. You might be pushing it with a second card, but i doubt it.
First 8-pin pci-e connector is rail 1/2 as is cpu, and second 8-pin pci-e is 1/2/3, so you end up with a high load on those rails. thankfully 24a on each is jsut about sufficient, but I have noticed lower clocks on my quad after adding teh second card.
My cpu is power hungry tho...1.25v all the way to 3.2ghz, but darn it all if vdroop ain't .09v!!!
so do you think a PC P&C 750 silencer would handle 2x hd2900 + qx6700 ??
