Can you post your bios settings that you used to get 4.7ghz stable. I can get 4.6ghz stable but am having issues with 4.7ghz. Thanks
Kein LLC2? Warum zur Hölle nicht? erm, sorry. click. English...
LLC2 is not a problem at all. LEVEL TWO means voltage dropping OFF.
It has been done for years on previous platforms...and I've been doing it on at least a dozen chips 24/7 up to 1 1/2 years. It is NOT a problem if you don't do hilarious stuff like running >1.4Vcore 24/7. Keep in mind, most boards don't even have an intermediate level 1.
Anything beyond 1.35V is likely to lead to overheating on air anyway.
Yo Amurtigress,
I donīt argue.
But it is a matter of fact that level 1 is safer than level two. Disabling the LLC sets the VDroop following Intel specs. Itīs better safe than sorry. I donīt know how much voltage :Damian: is going to set on his chip.
Are you ready for a quick hint?
How much VCore and Vtt should I use to get a BLCK 167MHz*24 stable?
For 3750 MHz (163*23) my system needs 1.25 V (=real 1.216V)
Mem. should run at 2000 MHz then
Sure.

Thanks Andrea deluxe for the BIOS update
There are a lot of templates with bios settings posted if you read back through this thread. All chips require different settings so you will hve to play around with yours and see what works. Noone can give you the exact settings for your chip. You dont have to find a template with an i7 960, you can use 920 930 or other bloomfield, you have a higher multi to work with but the other settings will work the same.
I'll give it a shot with F7u. F7t, just as F7r and Co. didn't get my D0 920 stable-Very contrary to F6.
Did run run any testing yet to see how the F7u works?
I am still thinking about updating to the latest BIOS:shrug:
Yo mate!
You are right- sometimes I do like playing with my system. :D
But believe it or not I had some issues with my audio since I updated to BIOS F7r. I blamed the creative driver for it at the first time. Now every issue is gone - since I have got the F7u running.:)
Fritz: What bug exactly?
I am running F7u now, and I got my chip stable at 4 GHz. Yet with more core voltage. 1.3125V as opposed to 1.2875V on F6.
Looks pretty clearly like an effect of the changed LLC in F7...
Overall the F7 BIOSses have a tendency to just hang when the board is supposed to start initializing the extra controllers, and the POST as such is faster in F6.
Not to mention the odd disabling of the USB power for mice and keyboards every two seconds when updating the current settings screen
The sound didnīt come up synchronously with the video.
I am happy that the problems are gone now:yepp:
So bios f7u is working nice?
This is the longest beta bioses I have ever seen before the final F7 come out.
Does anyone have settings for 5.0ghz with a 980X and do you think this can be achieved on water?
right now I have my 980x on 2 rads (360.2/240.2) plus 2 res. I had to take my gpus off blocks having some issues with my 5970. my idle at 4.4ghz are really good right now. I was thinking of just trying 5.0ghz to see if I could get a boot up and run a few benchmarks. What do you think would be my best option would be to achieve these goals.
Bump up both multi and Blck, as it yields best benchmarks , super PI scores etc, Keep pushing just dont bump your vcore to high.. Remember the 980x dont need to be 2x your memory, roughly about 1.5x faster only..
An option would be a a Phase change unit or Dry ice... If you can chill your water that would also make a difference (some guys place a portable airco blowing onto the rad...
Has anyone here tried for 4.8ghz on water or higher? I am going to try the aircon thing on my rads lol.
http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/x...C/DSC_0718.jpg
980 at 5 on water would be pretty tough to do.
I've had 980 linx stable at 4.8 ht off on chilled water but the cpuv needed was very high and climbing fast with each clock increase.
How cold can you get your room?
If you can get ambient temps way down (<10C) it might be worth a try.
Settings I would go for - something like - 25x200, ht off, mem at 8x (6x mem has problems for me for some reason), uncore at 13x maybe even 12x.
Start with cpuv at 1.6v or just a bit higher assuming you have a good chip.
Keep a close eye on your temps and don't run at xtreme cpuv for extended periods, replacing 980s is annoying and a bit pricey.
I ordered this board from Newegg on Monday, is it guaranteed that I will be getting a Rev. 2 board instead of a Rev. 1?
Anyone running this with an i7 930..I'd like to get an idea of a good base map to start oc'ing from...
Hoping someone can assist with a cold-boot - restart-loop issue.

In short... 1st boot each morning, the PC starts up for around 3 seconds then restarts, and loops this forever. It is on a UPS, but I don't think that should matter, and according to OCCT and BIOS, all the voltages from the PSU appear to be normal i.e. ever so slightly above the 12/5/3.3v
This is the 2nd 930 I've run in the same hardware setup, and both chips will prime happily overnight at as low as 1.248vcore. I've bumped it up to see if it makes a difference, but it hasn't (other than hotting up the proc.
TIA.
@newhit
Can you post your bois settings for 4.7 and 4.8 I will shoot for that this weekend. Thanks again for your help
@fritzman - your problem could be so many things.
strip down to barebones see if you still have the problem, single stick of mem, single drive, no optical drive, ...
swap out cables
swap out memory and HD
swap out power supply
...
I heard about these issues using a weak psu.
Sorry for late reply, did not get to 4.8.
Not at my comp at the moment. Get the 4.7 bios at the weekend.
Both my rads ONLY cool the cpu. I kept the graphics on the standard coolers. The NB had the facility to use water (GIGA-UD7) but I just took that off and put a Finned cooler on together with the supplied air cooler (tight fit!). Not sure about that bit but............
I just got home from work guys and unpacked my delivery boxes, Newegg sent me a Rev 1.0 board, is this good or bad? Also which Bios version should I be using?
You use the Revision 1 Bios's for your board, Really no difference!
Sorry everything down to run at 4.5 24/7 but you should get most of what you want from this............

Vtt was about 1.4v, LLC at 2 and dram volts at 1.6, nowt much else touched
hey guys i recently purchased this board for my new build. now whereas the whole build has a long way to go before its completed, i tried to switch this board on today just to see if it would post or not. installed the cpu (i7 940 with stock heatsink), 1 memory module in the second slot (first white) and a gpu (xfx 5450). I get one short post beep and the post code display reads FF but i get no display. could this be a gpu issue or am i missing something. Ive connected a spare xigmatek 500w psu that i had lying around. please help
Posted a reply for you here, I believe this was you anyway :)

Anyone use bios F7u?
Did it remove the "Dual Bios" logo which appear on first boot [the page where you press DEL to enter bios]
I flashed to this bios and this logo disappeared, can someone check?
As far as im aware no bios update removes the logo? not for me anyway hehe
Anyone here got rev 2.0 board???
any different overclocking (8+8phase)
http://www.gigabyte.com/fileupload/p.../3527/3246.jpg
I'm still on F2. Tried F6 but got blue screens every day. This was on a non overclocked system, with exactly the same settings as what I had with the F2 firmware. I have now put it back to the F2 firmware.
I'm guessing the new firmware had problems with my memory. I have a 920 as processor, and will not put in a newer CPU later. I would like to overclock my system to 4 Ghz or so later on.
I got the impression my USB ports are not optimal (when I want to copy of folder of 500 Gig from one HD to another, it will probably stop somewhere in the middle because it says it can't read a file/folder, but when I retry it works fine. Also, if I plug in a HD via the USB port that's next to my wireless USD network thingy, and I turn the HD on or off, sometimes I lose my Internet connection. )
Do any of the newer FW's resolve any USB issues?
Is there a changelog or anything available someplace on the X58A-UD5 F6i BIOS update? Gigabyte doesn't usually post beta BIOS's to their site unless there's a bugfix.
http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga.../index310.html
Btw,latest is F6j (fix audio bug).
Hope, nobody mind what WE posting in UD7 thread.
I looked, some other X58A model related stuff scattered throughout this thread. :D
Thanks Stasio!! Exactly what I was looking for.
I have a sorta noob question regarding a Gigabyte ex58 ud3r non a series motherboard.
I have a xeon hexa-core cpu and am trying to get a decent overclock but i can't seem to get the bclk past 220.
Is there something I need to tweek in the bios to get it running past 220, or do i need to upgrade my mobo?
And if so any recommendations on what motherboard i should pick up?
I was considering either the classified or the rampage 3.
Thx for the reply.
I tried flashing the BIOS to the latest one and it happens to be a Beta BIOS and I still can't get it past 220.
I might wait for the official BIOS release or just go ahead and pick up the rampage 3.
Beta BIOS F7v uploaded on TT forum, link in my sig.
I need a tip/hint. SSD Raid0 gets corrupt after a few days, running the system from a WD harddisk is fine. What could be the culprit?
@ Mr Stasio or Mr Lsdmeasap - please compare the two pcmv runs -
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcmv=345375 and
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?pcmv=345356
The first does not have easytune6 running in the background the 2nd does.
Also in the 2nd I am using the new oc on the fly feature to adjust oc between 5.4 down to 5.15.
My problem - The oc on the fly appears to be working great but it is killing my storage system performance - in some tests by as much as 50% - any suggestions on how to fix this?
edit - config info - 980x, Dominator GT 2KC7, Gigabyte x58 UD7(rev 1), Areca 1231ML-4G with acard 9010s @ 7xR0, cooling via an sdumper provided Cascade.
Cant find any info either, checked overclock.net, nothing so far..
what is the most stable bios for the rev 1 board? I am running F7v and it seems ok I haven't had enough time to thoroughly test it.
What are the odds of getting the new rev board from newegg, anyone purchased one recently?
I got a rev. 1 on my recent purchase
thanks, ill wait a while before trying.

anyone tried the new bios?
@Solid Snake,
does your problem have anything to do with this one: http://i4memory.com/f54/asus-x58-6-1...stalled-19200/
Is it RMA time? Sometimes my ethernet doesn't work and have to unplug the cable and plug it into other port than it picks it up again. It happens in both Linux and Windows and i've updated the drivers from manufacture website.
Second problem is sometimes on a coldboot it says voltage settings are wrong but once I go into bios and punch in the same specs it works flawlessly but couple days from now it would bring back the same error.
My GA-X58A-UD3R is doing the exact same thing (2GB available in windows). The new BIOS update fixed this problem except... now whenever I cold-boot I get a message "Recovering lost DRAM size..." and my PC reboots and then boots normally.
So it looks like instead of actually fixing the issue they just used some lame-ass hack to fix it when it happens. This is totally unacceptable (not to mention the on board Realtek sucks major you know what...) and makes me wish I went with Asus like I usually do...
I haven't overclocked the RAM at all. I have only set the XMP profile to get the RAM to 1600mhz retail specs.
Vdimm doesn't matter so much as QPI/Vtt when it comes to this, are you sure you tried enough QPI/Vtt? Try lower as well, with ram voltage at 1.66, try 1.2-1.45+ (Depending on ram timings/speeds/uncore)
It very well could also be the memory kit itself, I have seen plenty of people RMA and get the same exact kits that work perfectly when they got the new memory back from RMA.
I have also seen PLENTY of people say they do not have bent pins, and be 100% sure of this, yet when I finally got them to post images I would find 2-10+.
So you may want to take some images of your socket as well and let someone have a look just to be sure this isn't part of your issues.
Yeh been through the bent socket before with dinos, everything is sweet.. even tryed reseating a few things over n over still no difference! Its weird though shows 6gb in cpu-z and in bios but in windows only says 4.5gb free really weird.. Ive tryed up to 1.45 vtt with low nb frequency even high and low dimm voltages, im sure its the board..
New beta BIOS:
GA-X58A-UD7 - F7x
- Fix Smart error for SSDs with Sandforce Chip
- 06.Aug 10
Gigabyte latest BIOS
OK, I've tried setting the timings manually and have XMP disabled, I've also given the RAM 1.6-1.66 vDRAM.
The problem still persists, only on cold-boots will it post and say "Recovering lost DRAM size..." and reboot. This stops windows from booting with less than 6GB and is not really a big deal but is still annoying that it posts twice every cold-boot.
I'm using the FB11 BIOS for my GA-X58A-UD3R rev2. I guess I should remove the CPU and check for bent pins. If I find any do I just use tweezers or something to bend them back or should I just take it back to the store?
Any help is appreciated.
I've already tried everything in those posts. I'm not going to bother checking the CPU pins, because if they are bent there is no way I am going to fix them, I shouldn't have to repair a brand new motherboard just because of some manufacturing defects.
I'll just take this back to my local store and pick up a few Mushkin sticks and a Rampage III Gene.
I don't know why I bothered with Gigabyte & G.Skill anyway, should have stuck with my gut feeling. Not only have I been having this problem with this board, but post times are very slow, the on-board RealTek is horrible (static microphone and random cracking sound). Very disappointing.
Thanks for your help though and good day!
1 of course man
rev 2 are letters .. so far only FA hahah
thanks dinos
