With that ocz ram try setting the ddr v to normal. With that setting I can get 480+ on the ram no problem by setting it up at all (+.1~.4) I can't even get the ram to reliably do more then 390 anymore.

You have a revision 2.0 DQ6?, when and where did you buy it?...can we get pics of the mobo?, whats been chnaged/update on the layout?
b0bd0le if I'm not mistaken that ram you have is D9, try the new beta bios that ken just posted, that should help you out.Quote:

they have been working on this issue for awhile now and you should be happy that they have it fixed. they are just tweaking the bios.
whats your memory? Patriot 800? SL EP??Quote:

:slapass: I flashed mine and put in at least 5 hours of BF2142. Going to work on an hour's zzzz'z fun!! Dell 2007FPW comes in today, should be good times...especially since my sound card's not disappearing anymore.Quote:

welllllll...... gigabyte where is this micron D9 fix ? cuz it sure as hell isnt in the F8beta...
man you guys how freakin hard is it....
it works on the DS4 and the DQ6 so get off your arses and look at the DQ6 and ask yourself.. ok what did we do different... and then make the DS3 do the same as the DQ6
well i was having 2nd thoughts about buying the biostar Tforce 965P board but now i aint.. screw this crap...
Damn Damn Damn! today I flash to new released BIOS DS4 F7b and test it Micron D9 problem not Fixed I cant go over 1000 5-5-5-15 like F6 F6b F5 ... and also when I oc my system whilst boot heard long beep and system turn off and then turn on and boot with saved settings
anyone know whats improvments of new release?

who else in here can make their micron D9 run higher with the F8 Beta???
Just got my ocz vx2 in, and as off now ( treid for 10 minutes because I don't have more time atm ) I can run stock with em but I can't even duplicate my own max with the elpida ic's, I'm still on F7 atm will try that beta as soon as I get back. it was said a while back that the GMH was running a little higher.
so ask them did they fix it or what ?
and what were they testing with.
i understand that they just last week purchased some gskill ram so ask them IF its working then we NEED to know exactly what settings they are using to make it work.
you also gotta remember, and im sure you know this. the DS3 s the only motherboard on the market that i am aware of that can NOT run the micron D9 properly.
the D9 as you know can easily do 1100mhz 4-4-4 to 4-5-4 at 2.3 and 2.4v
ask them and see what they say ken please.
guys finally what we should do with Gigabyte Crappy BIOS??
Get Asus 965 Series or wait for F12 or higher?
I'm flashing now, I'll report back :)

Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, here are the test result:
BIOS QST Auto
F1 2000 RPM 2600 RPM
F4 2000 RPM 2700 RPM
F5 2000 RPM 2800 RPM
F6 2000 RPM 3000 RPM
We suggest you enable QST with lower Fan speed

This message from GB was in response to this message i sent them:
Listen, obviously i am not making myself clear or technical support staff cannot understand what i am saying. With F4 bios **BOTH** my Evercool PWM fans WERE working and controlled by bios which resulted in the RPM of both fans being reduced and reducing noise, since updating to F5 and F6 only the CPU_FAN header is controlled by bios. With F4 **BOTH** the SYS_FAN and CPU_FAN header were controlled in bios and lowered the fan speed on both fans.
Model # for the Evercool is EC9232M12BP. You don't seem to understand that Gigabyte have modified the bios so as fans connected to the SYS_FAN header is no longer controlled by bios and as such fans connected to the SYS_FAN header run at their full RPM speed.
The fan is not faulty, i have connected both fans to the CPU_FAN header, both fans work fine. THE CPU_FAN header **IS** controlled by bios, but the SYS_FAN header no longer is.
I have also connected a 3pin Cooler Master fan to the SYS_FAN header...it also runs full speed, when i connect the same fan to the CPU_FAN header it lowers it's speed and is controlled by bios.
Please pass on copies of these messages to the engineering team responsible of creating bios updates for the DQ6 motherboard...have them TEST the problem, let them see if they can replicate the issue.
This is the only way to get a resolution as these back and fourth messages are not helping me, a paying customer, and many others who have the same problem.
Put it on the bench and test it, then issue a bios update to fix the problem.
Now...are they just not GETTING what i am trying to tell them?, why did they enable Intel QST????????
Dammit, YES the SYS_FAN speed gets lowered when you enable Intel QST....but the damn POINT is with bios upto F4 you didn't NEED to enable Intel QST for the SYS_FAN header to be controlled by bios. I don't want to enable Intel QST for several reasons.
It uses up 16MB of systems RAM, it requires a driver to be installed in Windows and more important you can't adjust the DIMM, MCH, FSB and CPU voltages in bios with a global reset happening or the good old shutdown/restart cycyle kicking in.
They just don't seem to understand what i am trying to tell them!
And they are running is single channel, most folks run dual channel.
Look at the picks, it PROVES my point...in one they have Fan Speed Control method = Auto + Fan Spped Control Mode = Auto...the fan runs 2960RPM.
Now in the second screen when they set Fan Spped Control Method = Intel QST and Fan Speed Control Mode = Auto the fan runs 1885 RPM.
And that says what??????.....says that you now have to enable Intel QST for the SYS_FAN to run at lower speed, wheras before with bios utp F4 you could set Fan Spped Control Method to Auto and the SYS_FAN speed would be lowered...but with bios F5 and F6 it no longer is.
New driver for the Marvell LAN chip, actually seems more recent then what Marvell have on their own website:
http://www.giga-byte.com.tw/Support/...me=GA-965P-DQ6
Richard I have problem with my Big Typhoon Fan too when I set Fan Speed Control Method = Auto, Fan wont start when boot!!! I have to set Fan Speed Control Method = Disable (Fan speed = Always 100%) to start it with system boot!! I share this problem with Gigabyte but they told me is my Fan problem!!!!! My BigTyphoon works fine with my DFI LP UT NF4 Ultra-D anyway its LAST TIME that I become Donkey and bought motherboard from Gigabyte and YOU?? until now we found several BIOS problem with G brand!! and worst support
correction from my previous post i cant get any higher than 415 with my computer with the DS3 and e6400 and the ballistix....
Haven't had much time to play with DS3 F8A but it won't post at my old 450x8 settings. (E6400 + Patriot PDC22G5300LLK) That sucks!
i just bought one ds3 rev c2 to play with and so far no problem..
it run perfectly at 1st start, then i straight away oced to 430x8 @ 1.375vcore, others setting @ auto and passed orthos @ 5hrs.
Another FYI, i did a "dry fit" on the new Scythe Ninja Plus rev. B on the DQ6, no clearance issues around the CPU area. Clears the heatpipes and capacitors/MOSFETs...save for one issue, the the 120mm fan installed it overhangs the first DIMM slot.
As such it will be hard to remove the DIMM without taking off the fan, a minor issue. I plan to have two Scyhe fans in push/pull...my E6600 arrives tomorrow so we'll soon see............hey those Asus muppets have 165,000 hits on their thread, we can't have this!
Keep on posting! :-)
can't wait to hear results Richard :), this new bios hasn't helped me. Not really bothered I'm at a sweet spot right now anyway :)
HamidFull: The EP Series ... I got the ram for 130 dollars ... 5300LLK .... 2 GB ... god damn 2* the price sold for it @ newegg now
We've got the same RAM I see but I paid $179 for it at newegg back in the good ol' days. :) So what chips are on these things?Quote:

F8A doesn't seem to like that so I'm sneaking up on it again. It runs 440mhz at +.2v, I'm working on 445 now.
I've got an e6400 and Ultra-120, my main concern is Tcore. Once I figure out what it'll do I'm going to cut it back to 430x8 or so just to drop the heat a little, the GF mentioned the computer room is getting warm.
ScythedBlade : tanx and you know whats the exact chip model of your memory? (which D9)
I see not much has progressed in the way of DS3 since I last checked... what a shame Gigabyte
yeah the F8a is definately not an improvement.
not sure what they are claiming they fixed but i dont see anything fixed.
even the XFi is still showing issues.
Well, yes and no. I'm still able to get a 60+% O/C so can't complain too much and it's as stable as any board I've had. O/Cing is easy compared to the old AMD Barton days, I've not once had to reset anything, just let it reboot into stock settings and have another go at it.
I could spend $100 more and get features I don't need and maybe a little more headroom but I'm happy with my DS3. At least I was until F8A came out....
Dammit, I ran 450x8 Vdimm +.3, Vcore 1.55v Orthos stable until I stopped it just now. Rebooted and now the thing won't post with those settings. I'm letting it (and me) cool down and giving it another try. It ran those settings for 3 days with F7 bios.
DS3 C1
E6400 wk 26
Patriot 1gx2 PDC22G5300LLK
Ultra-120 HS
X850XT
The F8a bios fixed ny issues with the X-Fi completely. That was the only problem I wanted fixed and got it.Quote:

I think i have better components than a8(insert random combo of letters of that guy's username) ... My ram always could post at 450fsb ... only it was never stable because i dunno what timings to use.
Just got an s3 and 6300; currently using 8500hz gskill. Dead solid at 440 fsb (orthos, wcg crunching for 18 hours). Will not post at 450, even though there is plenty of headroom in chip and RAM.
Is this the D9 issue? Is there a work around? I can get other ram for it (and use gskill somewhere else). Any recos for ram for the s3 that will take me near 500fsb?
Any chance we can get gigabyte to update the Jmicron raid within in the bios to the latest version?
i saw guys having their x-fi problems fixed.Quote:

and you have no way of knowing that the mobo and cpu have more headroom in them unless you have tried that cpu on another baord that has allowed you to take it higher.. and same for the board.
your also dealing with an S3 not a DS3
i have not heard, and i do not know if the S3 suffers the same issues with the D9 ram, although i suspect it does. but as far as i know the DS3 is the one. i do know the DS4 and DQ6 do not suffer the same fate.

I got ocz pc2 8000 Titanium Alpha VX2's which won't run their rated speeds with any timings, and you're saying it's fixed? It's not a wall with anything else because I can run well over 500x7 with some geil pc6400 but they lack timings cuz their elpida.Quote:

I am not working for anything related to Gigabyte nor I am using her board.
<sigh> We'll never know if you don't try. I've run 450x8 stable for days and run SuperPi and Orthos at 488x7. Now I've got it back Orthos stable under F8A at 450x8.Quote:

the 3 betas I uploaded this time are focusing on X-Fi issues.
I am trying to say this guy has the same memory as him and he gets past 950+ and did I say they fixed the memory problem? No I didn't but it did fix my X-Fi problem completely. Does he have X-Fi in his setup?Quote:
