Let's be clear. ASUS bios never solved the PCI-E x1 issue, this is not true. It is a hardware limitations fixed in new PCB releases. I tested two P5B Deluxe, same C1 revision, one old, the other new. The new one, doesn't have the problem. Note also taht it is not a NB revision bug, as many C2 boards also have the problem. It is suerely a problem in the PCB design or elsewhere.
The only thing causing it on those defective PCBs is the NB voltage above 1.45v. Starting from 1.55v it happens, this is a well known issue since the begining. I tried all bios versions, it won't solve it. The only solution is a poweroff by removing the electric plug completely. Any soft reset will give the error again.
My two cents, live with unplugging the power cable when you reboot, or RMA it, you could get a new PCB bug free
