I have a Plextor PX-712SA Sata burner, not IDE, but I have the Marvel IDE disabled in bios and run Enhanced IDE in bios in the storage section. I am running off the Red Sata ports tho. No problems here. I think the Marvel IDE works with the AHCI ok, but not too swift with the IDE when its enabled. At least that is what I have read on a few posts on forums.

Running P5Q Deluxe with E8400 E0 and having troubles running any higher than 4Gig.
To get to 4Gig I need 1.368 Core Voltage (CPU-Z) and I get temps around 62 and 59 using core temp.
I've followed some guides here for BIOS settings and tried most I think but I can't get the o/c higher... This is on air with Thermaltake 120 Extreme and Schyte fan.
So are these volts and temps ok for 24/7? Can I go higher with volts?

Any ideas are welcome.
I guess my chip is a bad overclocker :(
Melhisedek,
I'd try dropping the Multi and increasing the FSB. I can't get a whole lot stable without a low divider. Also you might want to try increasing FSB Termination voltage to around 1.19 - 1.22.
If all else fails, you prolly just got a bum chip for an E0. My C0 requires the same for 4.0 what's your VID?
Will try what you guys advised and report back. Thanks
He had alot of issues looked like.. Try changing what I suggested where I quoted you above. Actually I made a mistake as well. recheck that quote I fixed it on the memory part. If you run 1:1 you have to use PL 10. If you can pull 333 or 266 strap where it isn't 1:1 then you can do PL 8 sorry bout that one.
ok dude to find ure magic 4ghz...
since ure using e8400..
set everything above except
multiplier 9
bus 445
...
run linpack on vista 64 diagnostic mode max mem say around 30-50 times..
up ure vcore until u get this stable and then use back the template above with the vcore...
cheers...
well the template above with tRFC 25 works like a charm for 4x1gb kit.. so the major difference might be..
u may actually lower the vNB... and keep a high tRFC .
also a good practise after u completedthe multi 9 bus 445 and set the fsb to 533 above.. when ure bios boots.. keep pressing tab etc.. and enter windows mem diagnostic mode..
and run like 5 runs etc just to make sure ure NB/ ram are ok... before u boot into windows.. cause it would be pointless.
Ok, please excuse me for my ignorance, just to make sure :)
I should set everything like you wrote and instead of 7.5 and 533 I should use 9 and 445?
Also is this Linpack you are talking about?
http://www.intel.com/cd/software/pro...mkl/266857.htm
And last what setting is "tRFC 25" ? I can't seem to find it :( Sorry again for my ignorance :(
tRFC = refresh rate.. anyway both of u guys are practically using the same hardware so sure..
use 9x445 to find the vcore..
once u eliminate the vcore out of the settings to ponder it makes life very easy..
then u can go back to 533 fsb.. and just worry about the rams..
and lower the nb voltage from 1.32v to anything that works for ya..
best way to test NB is to run memtest86.
basic way in vista would be downloading hyperPI. disabling the audio/theme etc on it and running dual 32m.
once u gotten all this done.. then go ahead and run orthos for 10 hours which would complete all the fft from 8 to 4096.. and high chance any failures would be ram/nb related
should take u two full days which is y linpack is great...
Oh I'm sorry I just saw e8400 and assumed it was for me :)
Well I plan on checking memory but I think it should be fine, I've run it at divider without even knowing a few times. But to be sure... what are they rated as? DDR 1066 MHz or? How much is it in FSB? Damn this used to be a lot simpler back in the days ;)
Aside from "PULLINS = Enabled" (don't know what this is) rest is pretty self explanatory, sadly I'm at work right now so I wont be able to test this for a few hours yet :(
Also how do I check and set my VID? So I can answer yaddam205 :)
Pullins will increase your PL by a little if you are lucky "it works for some people and some people it doesn't". You can set the fsb strap to 266 and 333 and you will see how it affects the memory speeds just look in the drop down for the memory speed after changing it between 266 and 333 and decide which one you want to use. The lowest setting is always the 1:1 like example you drop down the memory speed box and you will see 900, then below that 11xx, then 1500.. the 900 is 1:1 which would require the PL 10 setting mentioned earlier. If you can use the 11xx then you can use PL 8,,. Once you get in there and do this you will see what I am saying. Yes and use realtemp as mentioned above for the vid question.
I can not run stability in the Prime Blend mode, no voltage in the memory?

Hi,
P5Q Del
Chip: Q6600
Bios: 0803
RAM: Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX 4GB
I have a 3ghz Oc on my Q6600. Can I get any better settings than what I have now.. Is there anything I can tweak further that will benefit my system?

I have all Advanced CPU settings as disabled.
Thanks for any help in advanced.
I tried and tried and no go, than my rig wouldn't even post so I set everything to default, dropped multi to 8.5, and now I'm running Prime at 475 FSB and 4.12 GHz with no sweat and lower temps... Where I couldn't even run it for a 10 minutes at 450 x 9.
Are there any cons to running high FSB and lower multi but higher clocks?
And it BSOD :/ Damn thing :) Gonna try and tweak a bit, as most of the stuff is at AUTO. But still, are there any cons? Also what settings are good for lower multi but higher FSB?
Quick question. Regarding "PCIE SATA Voltage". 1.6v too high/dangerous? Recommended setting?

4x1gb Trasncend AxeRam Micron DDR-800+ (1.8v 4 4-4-12 2T)
Memory on P5Q-D question - I have (had) 4 1GB sticks until one of them died which I sent back, now the supplier cant replace them with the same model (1 month later on a lifetime warrently GG) so I am thinking sending back the other 2 sticks and just getting 2x2 GB sticks. Problem is most (pretty much all) of the faster sticks these days are much taller so I could have issues with my CPU cooler fan getting in the way (mem sits close on this board)- as it only just fit my current setup with normal height ram.
Question is (after that ramble) is does putting two sticks in channel B and leaving channel A empty hurt/slow down anything?
Side note - if anyone has GSkill PI Series DDR2 PC2 8800 CL5 4GB memory on the P5Q and has had problems let me know - as it is the front runner for new ram ATM.
So normal size ram fits, I would opt for eg for the Gskill PC8000PQ kit ( blue ones) they are dead cheap to 1080-1130Mhz too... running on my main rig at 450FSB with 1120Mhz ram speed 5-5-5-15-55 1.94volts (bios setting)
If you run the dimms in the 2 furthest slots think it will be single channel ops and bandwith will be reduced... Asus board tend to have one simm slot inbetween...channel A are the yellow ones, black channel B...
http://users.telenet.be/OAP/P5QDlx/8GbP5Q.JPG
If I would remove the 2 dimms on the left : single channels ops mate
Thanks Ill check out the Gskill PC8000PQ kits
The slots I was talking about using were 2 black ones (rather than the far yellow and black) so just leaving the 2 yellows empty - so that should still be running in dual channel (i believe) but for some reason I get the feeling i read somewhere (no idea where or how creadible) that the using the black slots was somehow worse than the yellows - was just not sure by how much (or at all).
