I picked up today Neo2 and 3200+ 90nm cpu, while i was there i thought ahhh why not. I was really after the 3500+ 90nm but unfortunatly Aus wont have them for another month atleast and my 3500+ 0.13 couldnt do 2.6 stable (0.5 Version).
Neo2 Ultra chip
0420A2
Korea :toast:
3200+
0441UPFW :D
So im expecting alot out of this combo, a guy in ocaus forums picked up a 3200+ 90nm and was able to do 2.75 stable on air.
Ill report later with few screenies just waiting on the xp-90 and Vantec Tornado Fan to arrive.
EDIT: Is it fine to put some AS5 on the NB? Should it cover the whole chip?
It doesnt look healthy what MSI uses

one of these days im gona see if i got Taiwan or Korea chipset
anyway to findout without removing the NB fan?
i have a week 37 CPU btw
I have pretty much the same setup as you (replaced the tornado though), cleaned the NB up on my Neo2 board (so little paste!) and covered the whole chip with ceramique paste before refitting the stock HS/fan.Quote:

A nice find by Ratax : (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&postcount=97)
the new 1.41 beta bios seems to fix the subzero bug for the msi :D
Now we need another new bios to correct the given voltage to the Winchester cpu's :(
0.1v undervolt anyone? :(
Yeah i will post with my results, temps, issues and etc...Quote:

anyone have any wierd psu problems with this mb? i woke up this morning and my msi-fx system wont boot?? the psu is fine cause im using it in my intel system as i type this but it wont power up my msi anymore??
please see my thread if you have had any issues with your psu. im going crazzy trying to figure this out. the damm thing ran fine all weekend all i did was shut it off and go to sleep for 5 hours then when i woke up it wouldnt turn on??

thx perc,
I don't think the temps are horribly wrong. I think they are measured very close to the core before the heat has had a chance to dissapate into the heatsink. Notice that as soon as I shut off Prime95 the temps drop about 10C immediately.

Does anyone know what PLL this mobo uses? As you can see my voltages are way off. I believe setting CPU cool to the right PLL will correct this.
I'm still tweaking this thing trying to get it stable. I have scored a 30s SuperPi time, but between the memory and the CPU I can't seem to get a grasp on what is causing errors. I'm going to run Memtest tomorrow at stock settings at 200 and 275MHz to make sure this memory is performing to specs. This is a pain compared to my 2600 Mobile system! Ahh.. But what fun!

I'm having the same problem, see here: http://forum.msi.com.tw/thread.php?threadid=66540Quote:

Yeah should be ok as long as you're very careful not to shorten the board with AS5, I used ceramique for both the CPU and NB since it's fully non conductive and many have found the performance is pretty much as good as their own AS5.Quote:

Is there a way to control this with software? :bsod:
does the msi k8b neo2 platinum like the ocz pc 3200 el platinum with ch-5 chips (dual channel kit)?
Well i have finished setting up the new Neo2 and 3200+
Man i had a handful, ran into issues with xp-90 and XL Pros. Having LED Activity Lights on the Pros, since the ram is higher then normal i couldnt fit my xp-90 in
So XL Pros Neo2 xp-90 combo is NO GO!!!
So i had to use my Venus for now, well maybe later ill get new ram.
Ok havent had any time to o/c, so what temps are you guys getting on 3200+ 90nm and Neo2. Bios reports 39c idle and Speedfan reports 34c. Well ill have to give a good 200Hrs for as5 to settle though and then i can compare.
Pretty pist that i cant use the xp-90 with Vantec tornado Fan, well using the fan right now on the side panel as intake, blowing right at the hsf. Man its fricking loud at full speed, thankfully my case has to fan contoller nobs.
Well so far so good, so can you guys post your cpu temps and sandra memory bandwith benchie. I got 5700/5660 something like that, use to get on the 3500+ 0.13 5900/5825 but thats 200Mhs faster.
Cheers,
33°C Idle and 48°C Load, 2750 MHz @ 1,55V. With 200 MHz on Rams i have
5850/5770 MB/s with Sandra. With 255 MHz @ Rams i have 7520/7440. :)
33c idle in bios?Quote:

Hmmm...strange when i select vcore in bios 'Startup' the bios reports 1.36 so does cpu-z, is that normal or its just undervolting from 1.4?
http://arturd2.customer.netspace.net...rums/cpu-z.JPG
At the above according to Speedfan the load temp is 46c while priming. Seems to high, maybe a bad mount but i doubt it, i think ill need some time for as5 to settle. What you guys think?
Works fine for me. :DQuote:

Like for my 3500+ 0.13 cpu i got that @ 1.5 vcore, so it seems strange.
The 0,09nm cpus are a bit hotter then the 0,13nm, thats all normal!
Bcs the dies of the 0,09nm are bit smaller! ;)
glad it works for you now :)Quote:

Anyone has a stepping like this ? please post some OC results
So 1.41 fixes the subzero prob? How many can confirm that?
I actually just replaced a 0420 Korea board with a 0442 Korea. (even "fresher" silicon!) Haven't put it under the Mach yet, but I can tell you my BH5 over 205MHz problem is gone, so that is a good sign.Quote:

/me is happy
