yes and yes
although no and yes because no ones done the first on anything above a 465 to 470 yet

Memory clocks have never really shown to be dramatic with Nvidia's graphics cards, however it's a little more dramatic with ATI cards! I have pushed 2100MHz memory @ 1.13v, core 850MHz and shader 1700MHz on air. That's the wall I'm at now, I need more voltage if I'm to go any further! I'm shooting for core 900MHz/memory 2200MHz/shader 1800MHz on water cooling.
Will have to test it when I get my 470 then, see if 900/stock is nearly as good as 900/2000 and if you can OC the core more if mem is left at stock
when i upgraded my nvidia drivers to the latest one, my graphic card seems slow. I mean before I could easily change from game to the browser and back. but now it is slow.
Should I downgrade the driver?
water cooling and extra gpu v made no difference to my memory overclock but good luck
if your looking at doing a memory vmod im interested to see how that goes
as for how much memory helps im fairly sure i tested it but cant find the results might rerun some tests tonight it was only a few fps though
I've made Vmem pencil mod , so my 470 is stable @~4400mhz, but result are not great
You can see the graphs here, what's the difference between 3696 and 4200 Vmem - barely noticeable 1fps to 0 fps in-game ... and 400point in Vantage(that's great)
Here's my 24/7 settings X-run :

vantage wo physic ;)
and good screen for info:

just tested how much difference overclocking the mem makes on the gtx480 and its stuff all in stalker

that is at 1920x1200 all settings in stalker cop bench maxed 4xaa hdao ect.
any one got oc scanner EVGA OC Scanner v1.0.6 that would like to upload it some were for me thankkss:)
just ran vantage at 920 core woot best score ever so far p24443
and with physx off

You are on water right death? Nice core :)
I would post it, but they want me to buy an eVGA GeForce GTX 470/480 to get it, they don't respect my past purchases :p:
What's so special about it though... it's just another furmark-like stress tool.
Possible to flash 470 gtx with 480 gtx bios an make the 470 be seen as 480 gtx in msi ab?
Memory clock seems kind of fail if you ask me, barely 1 FPS increase. After doing a few test i don't see why i should put the memory more than 2000 (4000mhz) for casual gaming ( for Furmark gaming by all means punch it to max), just compromising stability when i'm clocking the GPU. :)
I 'm not sure if it was even said on this forum but someone stated that EVGA's OC Scanner was the best at finding artifacts, it really is so far in my experience! Furmark is the last program that will show artifacts if there are any, Furmark seems good at loading up the GPU load and produces the most hellest conditions excellent for giving you a heat load on your new water cooling system!
I find OCCT GPU to be better in measuring stability in real world gaming applications. Furmark, Kombustor etc. often reports a false/positive situation.
My GTX480 @ 950/2200 ran through furmark, kombustor without any problem - although was not stable in Metro, BFBC2, Dirt 2, Assassins Creed 2.
By using OCCT GPU, I found the rock stable clock in all benchies, games etc. to be 900/2050 :) I had "only" 34 errors, during a 20 min test.
Thank you !!! I didn't think that OCCT would ever help me, but it did this time around. I adjusted my voltages real-time while testing and i think i found my rock solid spot at 850 core with the stock cooling. I tested it after that and i get around 5 errors per 15 minutes (and counting) of testing which should be good for casual gaming since its not stressing the GPU to 99%. :)
I have found OCCT and EVGA's OC Scanner to be 100% effective using both, one confirms what the other is indicating. What volts are you on @ 900/2050? I'm stuck @850/1700/2100 @ 1.13v on air, I plan on putting a Danger Den the increase it a bit further! I think the average overclock on air to be around 850MHz on air, as for the memory 4000-4400MHz. I've also heard the using different OC utilities can tip the balance is a higher OC, where are you fellows using to OC?
