Yes it seems it's cpu related after those some tests by jmax and you.
Can you confirm the same limit (263 FSB) with a lower multi ?
Hotbug , lol, it's funny :D

its still cant be said ;) mikeguava tested much cpu's on same board and all hit same wall.. they are step 4 and step 8 .. es and retail.
I only gained 4mhz on -190... so :(
lower multi's same fsb wall ;) with all cpu's
I did on 12xQuote:

probably some guys had bugged aopen too ...
Ok, confirmed :toast:Quote:

I just thought it was a fluke so I re-booted and ran 32m to see if my system was unstable. Finished a few iterations and then while the bench was running, I started up clockgen. In the meantime, my evap temps CONTINUED TO DROP  (while running 32m). I started pushing the fsb again - now the evap was reporting -75C - and locked up when I hit 2.9G. Restarted once again and ran another 32m and repeated what I did in the prior boot. This time, I locked up after I clockgenned to 2.75G - evap temps @ -80C. Looks like an issue with FSB limitations as temps get lower. Maybe that's why Waus was only able to go 4mhz @ -190C.......
Hey Stephen have you tried booting with 240+ fsb yet ;)
Booting? Or just running @ 240+ FSB? Cuz the cpu has run 1m @ 241FSB on air...look back a few posts ;)Quote:

Stephen I mean booting, it seems that's common among the top Yonah guys ;) I got my boards today, R570 is a small one, good job on the mod.
So you're saying that if I BOOT @ 240+FSB, I'll be able to push the cpu even further? If so, I'll try that first thing tomorrow.Quote:

Looks as if the board still may be "partially" bugging or I've corrupted [another] bios  :p:
My wild guess...Quote:

Cold bug with Yonah is a different story...Still wondering if it can boot @<90C evap. temp...
If i have 0 C i can't get in bios..i have to wait till the temps goes >0
i have the same gorilla... only windows boot if even fine @ -190 LOL
Jepp, same here.
If temp is around -20°C then Windows will not Boot.
In Everest is no more CPU Temp if it is below 0°C, around -20°C it shows up again but then it is +124°C.
really weird people have it and people dont (like me)

http://www.thelab.gr/images/Hipro5/T...ULT_NB_Mod.jpg
DON'T do the hicookie's VCore NB Mod coz IT'S NOT the NB Core....
It's the Vio of the i975 chipset and you'll measure NOTHING on the spot he pointed out for measuring.....You'll measure the REAL Vchip voltage BUT NOT coming from the regulator he's pointed out.....
WRONG REGULATOR........I just BLOW UP my AOpen mobo (Northbridge chip) by trimming the trimmer and NOT showing anything changing on the spot he has pointed coz there's NOTHING to do with this.......:( :(
It costed me 400$ this "Mod".......I was so anxious to mod my mobo that I thought not to search for Vchip Mod coz there was already be done by someone else, so I did this mod......BAD think......:(
QUESTION: @ hicookie....DID you do this mod on your mobo?.....DID you see changing by trimming the trimmer onto the measuring spot you are showing in your photo?......OR you just presume that this might be the VChip mod?.....
A L A R M .....
THIS is the thread aboud mods.......http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=95411
Thanks hicookie you made my day...... :(
.
to bad hipro, i would sure do the mod when I got my board and it will prob blow, like yours :(
i'm surprised no one else managed to kill their board including hicookie himself
Which of them did this mod??........:rolleyes:Quote:

But thanks for letting us know about this.
So who actually did this vchip mod?
Maybe real vchip mod will solve high FSB problem?
i dont think that the vchip mod bring more fsb!
my new CPU (QKHK) arrived today and there is max FSB 268 with any VChip setting in
Bios! (from [AUTO] - [1.675v]!)
here a prime screen :)
http://people.freenet.de/chris070719...h1/Prime-2.jpg
I think making superpi the only measurement of speed is totally wrong. Big cache benefits superpi A LOT.
eeuh this is a competition for yonah only so only superpi ;)

I have found about 6 Mods on this mobo so far.........Not more coz after hicookie's "Vchip mod", mobo went down.........:(
I had a wall at 215MHz with a stepping 4 T2400 one........
As for the "cold boot start" just place the Jumper that Waus-mod had posted a question about, in the middle (pins 2 an 3).........This jumper will help the cold boot problem coz when you firsty power up the AOpen, it feeds the CPU with only 1.00Volt and during post it feeds it with the VCore you have chosen via Bios........By placing the jumpers at 2,3 pins, when power up mobo, feeds the CPU with 1.4Volts and afterwords with the VCore you have selected via Bios.......;)
Already 6 mods :toast:
Hipro you have another board now? Cause your loss is our loss :(
You mean this jumper?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...-051230-01.jpg
Great work hipro... to bad about the board though..
i still can remember njkid (if i remember correct) has the mod (done by stephen)
But dont know if he turned the pot.
What were the other mods hipro you found? and did you gain fsb?
Yes Stephen still has the yonah and mobo but was having serious coldbug problems last night with his auto-cascade:(
Sorry to see what happened hipro5!
No other board........ :(Quote:

unlucky man :(
atleast your making very quick progress with the mods, should help the AOpen users a lot on their OCing quests :)
DAmn Hipro that suks. I was looking forward you playing with Yonah setup. Then mayby Merom since we get bios to support this board. Anyway its kind of funny that most experienced vmoder got screwd like that. You should of check for mods yourself, since these boards are very new, I'm sure you would find some good Vmods. Well sell your Dothan sys and get onother board;)

Do you have some memory bandwith results here ?, it seems there is a problem there, some members on OCM reports 5xxx Mb/s with everest and sandra , me think it's a single channel bandwith.
~6300 with centon FatD9 @ 476 MHz 4-4-3-8Quote:

BTW not sure about that, but increasing the voltage of the chipset of my DFI nF4 Ult-D gave (or at least made me think about that) me a little more stability while the CPU temp was @~-47°C with my FX-55 0516WPMW @255HTT... I might be wrong but AMD cold-bug has something to do with motherboard as well.
I get high 32m scores, how can I improve this ?

Somehow I don't wanna agree that it is 100% cpu related. We have only one board to test it on. And remember Dothans 7x0 hit at least 250-260+ easily.
Rol-co,
Great to see my cpu gets a higher fsb in a other board.. so it aint the cpu that is holding down. (there is a prom waiting on youre desk to get used :p:)
@ gamer,
use the large system cache for better 32m times ;)
I was informed - by PM - that there was another mobo went down by hicookie's Vchip (Northbridge) Mod......This mobo was down before mine......The guy propably thought it was his mistake.......:(
hicookie you should be ashamed of posting things like that in a VERY "readable" and crowdie forum without even testing it by yourself......:nono:

so when i can get 244 fsb with the cpu of mine , why can't it be cpu then? the board is not the problem i think.
Maybe it is possible too gain higher fsb on another board, but our japanese friend's here use the same board and gain a massive 280+ fsb.
@waus-mod
Sorry too tell you but i'm thinking it's cpu related :stick: , only thing is that becouse of the ihs on it it was a 10 degrees hotter as the cpu i'm using without.
so maybe that was not a good id too do before the ln2 run.
well w/o ihs i also had a 236.5 wall.... hmm can you hook up the prom?
I strongly believe that the problem with the fsb is a CPU > Northbidge > PLL generator chip related........IF AOpen whould be so kind to provide us a FULLY UNLOCKED bios with ALL features(deviders-multies-etc.), I think that we could solve a LOT of our problems......;) :)

I'm quite sute that 80-100% of the problem is related to cpu. Maybe we can improve it by raising the voltage of the fsb.Quote:

Ummm...I don't have any problem with booting into windows. I have a problem RUNNING the cpu IN windows...As evap temps get colder, the cpu becomes more FSB limited....Quote:

Okay, nice anyway :)
Has anybody tried to "burn-in" a Core Duo to see if it enables the cpu to run at higher FSB? I think it's kind of interesting because everybody hits a FSB wall..
i need more vcore :D
cpu can boot with 262FSB (3.4Ghz), but pi stable is only 258FSB :(
its still a sick chip.. it screams for ln2 / cascade!
Can you tell us FSB's limit related to cpu's temperature ?Quote:
