Look at the bottom of the list Evga Superclocked! :slobber::slobber:
Wonder if that'll be the 725/1050 card? Also look at the prices with Asus and their supposedly 50% increase with voltage card lol.
there goes the nvidia tax be glad nvidia isnt on top right now or those card would sell for 650
Interesting wouldn't even let me add it, only thing that shows is a Notify Me button asking for an email address. Personally I don't like Mwave though I've been ripped off on shipping charges and big delays from there before and never ordered from there again.
They are on top with single GPU and SLI, of course this isn't 100% fact yet but it might be today with reviews. They just aren't on top with a large margin and IMO that's better for us as I didn't want to pay 650 per card.
If it turns out to be 20% faster and 5870 is $420 then add 20% to that is $504 so GTX 480 seems priced right to me, add to the fact Fermi is a more advanced technology. They are late, they had problems but they aren't price gouging this time, if the performance is at least 15-20% range.

speculating here ..... if the gtx480 has 480 shader and the 470 448 how many will the 460 have and any indication on price ???? pure guess ????
since nvidia might get those ready by august or september ill be in the market for either crossfire or sli rig .... so why not go with 2 of those right ... unless ati's offering seems more appealing ..... or should i totally wait for a shrink and grab a gtx570

Wow, that would just piss everybody off.....Quote:
NVIDIA was planning to launch GeForce GTX 400 series on March 26. This meant that it would launch a new graphics circuit architecture on a Friday, which is quite unusual. The reason is because NVIDIA was planning to show its GeForce GTX 400 series during the LAN Party PAX 2010, but it looks like the plans has changed. Even if it hasn't been entirely decided yet NVIDIA is expected to go through with the launch event of the GeForce GTX 400 series March 26 at PAX 2010, but there won't be any benchmarks. Specifications and prices will be revealed, but the media embargo with complete benchmarks and such won't be until March 29th, Monday the week following PAX. During the same week NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 will be available in stores and ready for deliveries. The latest information speak of April 6th, but we wouldn't exclude that you will be able to get cards sooner.
I wonder when we are going to see the cheaper mid ranged Fermi cards......anybody?
:banana::banana::banana: this ish.... please leak some benchy someone....
GTX 570? Well as the saying goes "you can wait forever" there's always going to be newer and better just on the horizon and if you want the latest and greatest you'll pay a premium for it, only then you won't have outdated hardware for a little while.
For me I try to get what I can when I can and then do my best to sell it off used when it is still worth a decent amount of money.
People signed a NDA, already received cards, and supposedly the NDA ends today (Friday) 26th @ 7:01pm EST so unless they are adding an addendum to the NDA then I'd be posting my review anyway and ignoring any emails or calls from Nvidia saying otherwise. That's just me though :)
| 2010/03/17 21:07 didnt look at the date on that nordichardware link ..... nice ... its old news.... :O so the nda still ends on the 26th ....
the terms of an NDA are normally subject to that NDA and the date that its over can normally be extended indefinitely. and 7PM eastern is a strange time since NV deals in pacific time (but it could just be a converted time) and NDAs are normally over in the morning
http://www.provantage.com/pny-techno...b~7PNY90P3.htm
$485 GeForce GTX 480 from a well known e-retailer. If those leaked benchmarks are correct, I can safely say that this card is worth $100 more than a 5870, maybe even more.
PNY is usually cheapest it seems, they appear to run 100% reference / stock design. While it is questionable if the $20-$50 premium is worth it for a company like Evga or BFG that sells the OC and Superclocked models both of those companies have a really good rep, usually hassle free RMAs, both have 90-100 day upgrade program (never used it though) If the GPU wasn't going in my PC I'd get a PNY but for me personally I want a bit more.
Well I think it's now safe to say, that if anyone actually wants one, they had better order them now and take the price gouging up the poop shoot, because these are going to be rare. All but the largest retailers, etailers and AIB's are going to get shafted on allocation.
I feel absolutely no need to be politically correct. For a card that's essentially on the middle ground between a $400 and a $700 card, a $500 price point should be justified for pretty much everybody who has the money.
First please show me where you see price gouging, next please show me where you have evidence of "shafted on allocation" when the only thing I find is this article which is contrary to your statement.
http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news...n-hd-5800.aspx
price isn't bad with current state but i doubt that it will stay that way expect price gouging i say
Seriously? That's the only thing you can find? Well, there's plenty of evidence if you read forum's around the net. There's even members in this thread that have participated in some of them. Even if that article by Theo is true, it looks like it probably means that nv has been stock piling launch allocation and as soon as that limited volume runs dry, the waiting will begin.... and not end for quite some time.
So if you want one you should probably order while you can, or you'll risk going without.
Totally agree, does anyone remember what happened after the 5 series got released? Parts were cheap, parts vanished, prices skyrocketed.
Fermi for 500$ release day, Fermi stock dries up, Fermi price jumps to 1000$ tomorrow.:shakes: Then prices are "retailers fault" when supply is dry. Who's fault?
Of course just like a 2010 Mustang GT500 when I was shopping for a new car 5 months ago and elected on a 09 Z06 because the GT500 was not only sold out before it hit the lot but it was not expected to see any for a while. Let me add also that dealers were getting over MSRP for them, and some of the people that reserved them sold them for 10-20k over what they paid. This happening in a down economy with horrible new car sales...
Anything that has a large supply and demand (PS3 release? Wii Release?) is going to sell out quick and if you really want it you better jump on it. This isn't news this is just the standard.
Great. So then you agree. But really it doesn't matter what the performance is like, because there are enough nv faithful that will buy a turd with an nv sticker on it. :D
[edit]
Anyway, the reports are that availability will be very low. Watch nv play it like availability is high, but demand was so high the stock all dried up!
it all comes down to the turd's performance
Sounds like you have a dilemna on your hands... Buy now with the assumption that it performs up to your expectations, get a card, or don't buy now and wait to see if performs up to your expectations and risk not getting one! :D
Where are the reviews, its the 26th now...
I heard somewhere that the NDA stops the 29th.
Do you really expect anyone to come with a review before Nvidia announces GeForce Fermi specifications?
This is on Friday 3/26 from 6 PM to 7 PM at Pax East 2010, Boston, MA.
So check the time in your country.
You are late...

I'll do a Vantage Extreme run when I get home and see what I get since the review is probably with older (worse) drivers :)
0900 pst...
Nope I thought so too and was looking for it. Guru3D had a countdown timer that was javascript and was different for everyone because of time zones. The reports from people indicate 11PM GMT which would make sense as we are currently GMT -4 for EST time zone (me) so that's 7PM EST which we know Nvidia presentation is 6PM-7PM EST.
So.... either 13 HRS 30 MIN or 14 HRS 30 MIN to go! I'm guessing if we see Guru3D review then every other major site will have it up.
Ah so it will be 2300 GMT?!?!?! That is odd, usually reviews come out at around about the 1400-1500GMT time
Major review sites have to abide by what Nvidia wants and if I were them I'd NOT want to see review sites before I had my big presentation. I read that we can't see it streamed live, if anyone gets either a live feed or some kind of video of the event please post it.
nice... at least something...
but im pretty dissapointed, i expected to finally read reviews today :/
well... idk... a 8800gtx is still enough to play games at 1920x1080 and max details and aa today... so it was expensive but if you think of not having to upgrade for what, almost 3 years? thats pretty damn impressive and the per year cost is only around 200$...
hahah awesome, keep em comming :D
its not an twimtbp game?
oh and did anybody notice the latyest xbitlabs article?
they meassured power consumption of the latest cards in very high detail, slot, first 6pin, second 6pin or 8 pin, in idle, under gaming load, occt load and blue ray playback load... very interesting!
and in this article they hint towards the 400 series being very hot and power hungry.
in fact they say something along the lines of "it might take a while until nvidia cards are perf/watt competitive again"
xbitlabs is veeery picky when it comes to power consumption of cpus, boards and vgas...
this cant affect their 400 review for the better... and the fact that they went back to the bench and checked the power consumption of all current cards shows that this is going to be a major part of their 400 series article, power consumption... :D
I'll bet $50 that the NDA lift is at midnight GMT, 1:00 CET (which would make it 7 p.m. EST).
I dunno I play most games at highest details with SLI 8800GT, they have been nice to me for almost 3 years now..
It all depends on the requirements of Guild Wars 2 if i'll upgrade or not.
SLI 8800GT is quite a bit faster than a single 8800GTX though :)
Talking about 8800GTXs, mine just died in my secondary PC. Damned solder problem. Luckily I still have 1 month of warranty left. Since they don't produce the GTX anymore, I might actually get a free upgrade now. Nice! :D
ATM i use a GTS 250 from Leadtek, V2 that is, a bit of OC. It's at around 8800GTX levels because of higher freq, even if mem bus is just 256. But at 1680/1050, with an I7 CPu at 4 Ghz, i still cannot max some games, like metro/crysis/stalker/BFBC2 etc..., not talking about 4x AA or some other delights.
yay its 7 EST ammm well 7 am EST anyways :(
7 PM EST.... strangest release date/time yet
NDa should lift in time for my morning Coffee over here.. ;) Should make good reading for it
GTX 480 will be showed on these screens 2nite at PAX 6PM EST. I'm wondering if Nvidia use the GTX 480 to power these screens, that would be hilarious. :D

5870 lightning could handle 2*470 is something :)
Is it only me that think there's something weird about the brackets? Poor 2nd GTX470, that card has to run hot as hell.

We've picked up news from MSI regarding the latest implementation of Multi-GPU processing on the Big Bang Fuzion mainboard. Using the Lucid Hydra chipset, MSI was able to get two GeForce GTX 470 to run with a Radeon HD 5870 Lightning to complete 3DMark. More inside.

We are on page 72 atm.... :ROTF:
It seems to me there is something wrong with XbitLabs' power consumption method.
1. Is it possible to measure the amps for a certain slot?
2. The method assumes PSU provides exactly 3.3v/5v/12v at any time.
3. A GPU that performs CPU calculations, looks more power hungry, compared to another GPU that has no such ability. Though the total system power consumption might be a lot better with a GPGPU.
4. This method is very complicated, needs calibration, it's not widely acceptable and prone to errors.
5. The results are not comparable between different measurements even on the same system.
Xbitlabs didn't provide a total system power consumption at the same time.
The power consumption of GTX285 seems to be a lot more than HD4890.
XbitLabs measured the power consumption while playing Crysis Warhead at 170W for HD4890 and 245W for GTX285.
Though the official "Max Power Draw" for HD4890 is 190W and 183W for GTX285.
Do they imply that Nvidia announced a lot less max power consumption (20W) specs and ATI a lot more (20W)?
Most other power benchmarks seem to give lower power consumption for GTX285 compared to HD4890 though.
Xbit Labs measured GTX295 (55nm dual GPU) and 5970 (40nm dual GPU) but skipped the 4970X2 (55nm dual GPU). Why?
I am not sure I can trust xbit labs' power measurements.
3Dcenter talks about GF104 http://www.3dcenter.org/artikel/deta...nce-chip-gf104
OMG! Why is every site teasing us? And i may be wrong, but those charts seems to imply that GTX480 is faster than HD5970, looking at the scale:shocked:
EDIT: Well, HD5970 is showing poor scaling (37% faster), probably CPU bottleneck? Still if GTX480 manages to achieve HD5970 levels of performance, it will be impressive. On the other hand, it might not be true, although I have trouble seeing Hexus making a chart to tease..
EDIT 2: Looking again at it, it would not be that impressive. Only around 40% faster than a GTX285.. fail...
um still no reviews??
Wasn't the NDA for Fermi expiring today? Where the hell are the reviews?
6PM - 7PM EST, still gotta wait
A few more hours left isnt there ?
EST = GMT - 4
GMT = 14:29 -> EST = 10:29 AM
about 8 hours to go :(
1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammeter
2. This is probably the cause of discrepancy
3. How did you figure that out? Lots of variables, the last DX9 card was not on 55nm or 40nm
4. Well, aren't their equipments pre-calibrated?
5. Again, how did you figure this out?
http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3750&p=12 I dunno, anandtech says 4890 consumes less power than GTX285
If I'm not mistaken, w1zzard does his power calculations straight from the PCI-e connectors too.
I do wonder how both of them measure the power through the PCI-E slot (by both of them, I mean xbitlabs and w1zzard. Not anandtech, anandtech does wall)
http://techpowerup.com/reviews/Power..._Green/27.html
You hit the mark at 2, I don't think xbitlab's can be trusted too much either.
