Hmm... After all that you said, looks like there is no need to crossflash.
My rig is doing very good right now anyway, but the ultimate test will be 2 days of folding one BIG work unit (if you know what I'm talking about).

I have a question for you guys who know:
I'm now @~4.4GHz (191x23, x20 UnCore, x18 QPI, x10 MEM), vCore set to 1.4375 in BIOS, after drop it is 1.392 (LLC Enabled) and VTT 1.44V. Trying to lower it to 1.425 vCore and 1.42 VTT.
CPU heated up to 84C last night during testing under LinX @~25C ambient (It's OK, CPU should be lapped).
Interesting thing is that I have never seen it going over 81C on DFI with voltages from 1.408 to 1.472 and was never fully stable.
What is going on? :shrug: I have doubts that there is a problem with my DFI's PWMIC, that it just can't deliver enough current, so I switched to GB for testing purposes.

I run LinX for 10 passes on ALL memory setting, and if it gets through that I've had no issues with failing EL WU's in F@H. I fold at 4.6Ghz now at basically the same settings in my sig, a little VTT voltage did wonders for stability past 4.4 :)

Me too, there is no need for torturing rig for hours and hours for no reason.
If it can do 10 passes of LinX with all mem, it's ready for folding - torturing with a good reason. :)

Good to know. I'l try pushing my Xeon more. That's the reason I bought it. :D

Still not working...

Now I started from Optimized defaults again.
this sets uncore to 2667
and RAM to 1066.
If I only change uncore to 3200,
auto sets RAM to 1333.

but I`m not able to get the ram to 1600.
As far as I remember the only thing I haven`t tried
is to play around with voltages and latency settings.

I give it a couple of more tries then I leave it...
If anybody has any ideas I`d appreciate it!

If those settings by Andrea deluxe don't work, then your memory is probably faulty.
You can try switching places of your mem sticks (123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321) by marking them with numbers on sticky tape.
BTW, which memory slots on MB are you using, blue (1,3,5) or white (2,4,6)?

Good guestion.
I didn`t put it together myself.
I have 2 x 3 x 2 gig dominators so I think I use all the slots.
I tested everything with every possible test software,
and I`m using it for month without any problem on optimized defaults.
Can they be still faulty?

Does it help if I post CPU-z or HW monitor screenshots?
I`d like to be sure that bios settings are absolutely ok,
before I start tiering in pieces my pc or take it back with
warranty.

*Sorry, I wasn't paying attention...
Try with only one memory kit, then the other, but don't mix them up. I presume that kits are in same color slots. Looks like that they just don't work together so good.
It could also be that you need more CPU VTT cause of more stress on memory controller due to all slots used.

I checked inside, it`s so overcrowded.
I have a big cpu cooler, the biggest thing I can put inside is eating stick.
I leave it for last.

What about CPU VTT?
I guess I go back to optimized defaults and
set uncore to 3200 and ram to 1600 and
try to lift CPU VTT until I`m stable.

CPU VTT is called QPI VTT on GB boards. Intel's specs say 1.35V, but usually people use up to 1.45V for everyday use.

Is that older version of FLASHSPI? I tried with one version that I did already have but it just said incompatible bios etc.

I am not sure what version he linked, but I have two different versions and neither will work. Once flashed to EX it will not go back, even if flashing a old EX BIOS.

Ohh hey, we are not talking about FlashSPI, we are talking about SPIFlash which is something totally different. Please be careful in whatever you are trying to do, you will VOID your warranty should something go wrong.

i have linked the correct one ...... check again
U have to do all this in DOS
write like this C:\SPIFLASH EX58EX.F12

once its done allow it to backup the ext bios to backup bios chip ,then it will function like ext NORMALLY

Yes, I have done it many times in the past as well. But since BIOS F11 EX it will not go back to UD5

I know all about it and how it works, of course, SPIFlash I mean. I crossflashed a few boards UD4P, UD5, and went back to normal version several times, but recently crossflashed a UD5 to Extreme F11 and it is stuck with extreme now. I tried F4-10 EX, and then tried to go back to UD5 with each and had no luck, with both versions new and old SPIFlash that I have.

Sorry to have confused you, I meant neither will work since I have a board that is stuck at Extreme. I think they changed something in the new BIOS to stop people from crossflashing, which made it be stuck with the last board flashed into it with the new BIOS changes.

I was thinking I would have to short the backup BIOS out, with an older EX BIOS in the MAIN so it would recover or I could manually put back a older BIOS into both. The older ones work for sure I know, this is the only time I have ran into this issue since F11 EX

simple solution to the problem:

UD5> EXTREME=OK

EXTREME>UD5=NO

Simple!

use spiflash and flash an older EXTREME F8 bios on a UD5@EXTREME.
After you have an extreme f8 bios on a ud5 reflash ud5 bios using another time spiflah.

^hello I myself flashed First it was UD5 f10 > UD5 f11 > EXT f11 ( f11 was not stable )> back to UD5 f10 > now EXt f12

I don't know why others can't ........... but mine is working like a charm ,with EXt f12 currently on board i can flash back to UD5 f10

I did it ........................

Still curious if I should flash to F12 Extreme BIOS or not, rather not deal with issues flashing back if it is less stable than F11 UD5 that I'm using now.

Is there an easy way to save profiles so you can use them after you flash? I've got 4 or 5 nice profiles that I've been working on for quite some time and wouldn't want to have to start from scratch or write down a bunch of settings :p /lazy

So you understand what I said then Andrea? Did you have the same problem?

I admit I was in a hurry, and the error I received was similar to Bad BIOS image or something like that and I did not try very hard for very long. Could have just been I needed to put my files on a FAT partition instead of my USB, I planned to but never got around to it.

So you got it stuck before too? Then flash UD5 @ EX to F8, then you can flash back to UD5?

F11 is what I have one stuck on right now, I thought I tried F8 but I may have missed it becuase I was mad and in a hurry, but I do know I tried F4 and F6 for sure, F10 as well.

Well you would not want to use one profile from another BIOS anyway, but you could easily write down your settings as a good starting point.

If you are wanting to take 4 UD5 profiles to an extreme BIOS I advise against that, but you can save profiles by themselves to USB same as you backup a whole BIOS from the F11 screen on the MAIN Page of the BIOS. The whole reason you might want to crossflash is due to a more stable BIOS, so using alternate profiles may make that stability go out the window anyway. See what I mean? Best to write down what you need, or not crossflash.

If you did not like it, when you flash back to UD5 (If this is possible using Andrea's mentioned F8 way) then you would have all your profiles back again anyway. Provided the UD5 you flash back to is a saved BIOS with all your profiles in it already.

Ya, it very well could have been my file or USB, but the UD5 files were fine on the USB but I guess that doesn't mean anything. I was in a hurry and mad, so I didn't try all options.

Once I get time I will put them on a FAT partition and see if that gets it flashed back. It's not a big deal anyway though I am fine with Extreme, I just thought it was something they changed since F11 EX BIOS, but I guess not since you guys say you have flashed F11-F12 and back to UD5 without any problems.

I'm beginning to loose my nerv. I thought I found stability @ even higher VTT then expected/wanted (1.46V), but after 18hrs of folding big WU, I got BSOD. :mad: Raised to 1.48V and frame times dropped from 27m44-50s to 27m31-35s. :) But after 3hrs - BSOD. :( Now I'm trying with raised vDIMM.

SMART Not Reporting Correctly For HDs Connected to JMicron (White SATA Ports)

I have been using the F12 BIOS and recently added a few hard drives. In order to accommodate all of them, some of them were hooked to the JMicron (White SATA Ports). They all formatted fine and work like they should, but Everest shows no SMART info on them. The screen where the info should be is grey, while all HDs hooked to the blue ports report like always. There is nothing wrong with the new drives, and I also hooked up a drive from the blue port to the white one, and it stopped reporting SMART data.

I had to go as far back as the F8H BIOS, to get SMART data to report anything, and even then it was only the temp. I am now on F7, and I still only see temp.

It would be really nice to have a new BIOS like F12 that had working SMART for all SATA ports.

I am open to suggestions or help. Thanks in advance.
