So if I want ~60%, I need to drop CPU Term to ~1.1v? Then leave CPU/MCH Ref on auto?
I haven't even had a chance to do some overclocking on mine.
Hopefully I might be able to do a dab tonite!
Nope, donīt run either of CPU/MCH ref on auto, donīt work that great when OC.
CPU ref work fine with 0,760v (63,5%) with dual core
MCH ref works better with 0,720v (60%) with dual core
CPU term at 1,20v is the reference (base level).
If you want ~60% -> 1,20v (CPU Term) x 0,60 = 0,720v.
Drop your MCH ref from 0,760v to 0,720v.
Here you can read some more about how the CPU/MCH ref works.
CPU Reference and MCH Reference are voltage % of CPU Termination, you can think 0.82v or 63%, but easier to discuss about them as %.
1.30v CPU Termination and 0.823v CPU Reference = 63% = AUTO
Since ppl don't have calculators besides loaded Windows (), they have to bring back CPU Term to 1.20v, then set the reference % (and in fact know, 0.760v is auto 63%). Now, when you increase the termination, reference goes hand in hand, giving the same percentage, while increasing both termination and reference
I can't seem to get above 4GHz. I've tried a $|-|!T|_()/-\|) of changes but none have even allowed me to boot up. What changes should I make to the above settings to get to 4.25GHz (or anything 4GHz+).Code:******Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.)******

LLC on, is dangerous in cpu 45nm ?
I'm so pissed off at Gigabyte right now, why the :banana::banana::banana: did they make the max vcore for Celeron's only 1.4vcore? WTF on a E8600 you can do to 2.3vcore, but no, on the older CPUs (that need more) you only get 1.4vcore and who only needs 1.4vcore, its nothing. May as well not even raise it at all.
I still got 5.2GHz with only 1.376vcore, which I think is pretty good. Howwever ofc I need 1.8vcore at least so I can do some 6.5GHz+ benching.
Does anyone know a way around this and would a new BIOS help etc? Or is there a good reason why they did this?
Thanks
Cross-post with: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...19&postcount=1(Beep codes during POST - Are they made by CPU running, or m/b hardware? Q9650, P45mb).
I've got some major hardware failure problems with my Q9650/UD3R system, and I don't know exactly what has happened or why. More details in above post.
I was running with FSB=468, VNB=1.48 when things went awry. I asked in the post re max safe VNB for P45s, but no-one has answered (can't fit everything in a title). Hoping you guys might help ...
Oh, and I've never lifted the heatpipe assy off the UD3R, but I did have a 120mm fan leaning against the TRUE, blowing straight onto the P45.
My dilemma is also that I don't want to buy more LGA775 stuff now, but to test which components are faulty/saleable I need more DDR2 RAM and another CPU would be helpful.
I don't think 1.48V vNB/vMCH is too high for P45. I've run 1.5 on my previous Gigabyte P35-DS3L board which has a tiny NB cooler.
Reset your BIOS and try to get it to POST. If it still can't then you've got something loose somewhere or a faulty component. Start with the easy stuff first (RAM, expansion cards). Sometimes disconnecting and re-connecting your PSU cables to the mobo can help.
Really liking this board so far. My new Q9550 is giving fantastic preliminary results on it. 3.6GHz @ stock volts (425x8.5) and only a vMCH bump to 1.3 delivers a full pass in OCCT Linpack. Shooting for 4GHz on air (OCZ Vendetta 2 push-pull w/stock fan & Scythe 1900 RPM 110CFM fan). VTT, PLL, & GTL Ref @ stock still. Temps in the mid-60's in OCCT in a hot apartment with practically worthless AC.
4GHz (8.5x471) now OCCT Linpack stable @ 77 degrees. vMCH 1.4, vCore 1.375 BIOS (1.33 Windows), LLC enabled, vTT 1.3V, all else stock.
That was the easiest overclock ever.
Put my q9550 back in for more testing today. Have had more time now to learn this mobo. This is where I am at now. Core 2 sensor is bugged but if at least one sensor wasn't off I would think something was wrong.

Finally hit 20k in 3dmark 06. Not bad for a single GTX 285 and a Q9 on air, IMHO.
Sorry I havent learned to use the code yet. You can try this using 200d pl9 standard or turbo and trfc auto depending on your ram.

Nice score techguy
To use code click the number sign(pound sign) under message while in the advanced reply to thread page. Upon clicking it [CODE][CODE] will appear, the second code will have / before CODE.
Enter the message you want to be in code between the two sets of [CODE] and that's it.
It should look like [CODE]message here[CODE] but with a / before the second CODE and after the bracket.
Thank you. I will try that for sure. After spending months on this thread I felt stupid asking.
@Hank,
So far here is where I'm at. I'm wondering if my core temps are screwy. CPU temp is @ 67c max when core temps are at 56c max...Does that make sense? I know they're stuck at a min of 40c, so that sucks too.

What could be the options in the bios, a UD3P + Q9550 stable at 4.5 GHz?
thanks
